Goodbye BATTLESTAR GALACTICA - Next Season will be the last…
May 31, 2007

This just in from Variety, next season of BATTLESTAR GALACTICA will be the fourth and last of the show. The producers of the show announced this Thursday.
It is true that Battlestar Galactica never got really big, but it does have very loyal fans (me being one of them). According to Variety, Battlestar Galactica:
“is a very expensive show to produce, especially for a cable net. Sci Fi has tried to turn that buzz into bigger ratings, but the show never seemed to break out beyond a core niche.”
Even though this news makes me sad, it also makes me even happier to start next season of Battlestar Galactica knowing that everything will be explained in the end. This third season ended with the most unexpected revelation of who the last Cylons were (in case you’re wondering highlight the rest of the parenthese: Colonel Saul Tigh, Chief Petty Officer Tyrol, Samuel Anders and President Roslin’s assistant Tory Foster). Now I am ready to find out what the Cylons’ plan is (it has been three season now that they have told us “they have a plan”, so what is it?). This seems like the prefect time to end it, while it is still great. At least they have a whole season to prepare us and give us a decent Battlestar Galactica Series Finale (unlike Veronica Mars, yes I am still bitter about that…).
Plus, according to Variety, the “Producers promised to end the show “with a bang.”" What more can I ask for?
It’s time for speculations now. I have to admit I am not really good with speculations, but I guess my one question for Battlestar Galactica is: Will they finally find Earth?
I am hoping they do because this is bound to be good.
Battlestar Galactica will be back for its fourth and final season in November (yes that soon, but wait don’t get too excited) with a two-hour episode. It will then return in early 2008 with 22 new episodes to finish its fourth season. I don’t know if having such a long break between the first two-hour episode in November and the rest of the fourth season of Battlestar Galactica is such a good idea. I mean look at what happened to Jericho (it lost a lot of viewers and got cancelled). Then again what’s the worse that could happen to Battlestar Galactica if not enough people tune in? Get cancelled? Oh wait, they’re already ending it! So I guess the only bad thing is that I will be very annoyed that I will have to wait a few month to see the rest of the season, especially if the first 2-hour episode is good (and you know it will be).
Finally, as far as a prequel series is concerned (remember the Caprica idea they had?), Sci-Fi hasn’t mentioned whether they plan to move forward with it.

THE STARTER WIFE - Starts tonight at 9pm
May 31, 2007
Debra Messing’s new show THE STARTER WIFE starts tonight at 9pm on USA.
The Starter Wife is based on a book by Gigi Levangie Grazer of the same name. It tells the story of Molly Kagan, a woman whose Film Producer husband divorced her right before their 10 year anniversary, which also happens to be right before their prenup expires. Molly is left with nothing and moves to Malibu to start a new life.
The Starter Wife seems to be right up my alley. Guess who will be tuning in tonight

HIDDEN PALMS - Thoughts on the Pilot
May 31, 2007
So I finally watched the first episode of HIDDEN PALMS and even though it’s no Dawson’s Creek, Hidden Palms had some good things about it.
Don’t get me wrong, it is not good enough to become one of my favorite shows, but if the CW keeps it on the air, I’ll tune in.
Hidden Palms brings us the typical beautiful rich people with problems (yawn… you know u love it though…). The beginning of the episode was ok, I can tell Kevin Williamson tried to bring what made Dawson’s Creek a success: teenagers that speak like they’re 30. Unfortunately, it just didn’t work for me this time. Seriously, the scene between Johnny and Greta as they analyze each other as if they have PHDs in Psychology, that was just too much for me.
That said the show redeemed itself for me closer to the end, as we get a hint of the secret that Palm Springs is hiding (hence the name Hidden Palms, right?!): What really happened to Eddie (the guy who lived in Johnny’s house)?
Then came the last scene where Greta goes to see Cliff and tells him she hates him, only to fall in his arms. Classic! To top it all off, all of this on the beautiful Damien Rice’s song “Blower’s Daughter”. This stuff always gets me…
All and all, Hidden Palms might not be the next best thing, but it’s good enough to be on my Summer TV shows list.

Izzie Stevens gets KNOCKED UP…
May 30, 2007
…well not really. But Katherine Heigl does in her new movie KNOCKED UP.
Katherine Heigl is not the only one in Knocked Up that comes from a TV background, her co-star Seth Rogen started in the awesome but short lived Freaks and Geeks.
Knocked Up comes out this Friday June 1st. I will go and support my favorite TV stars, will you?
Check out two trailers for Knocked Up (the first one is the International one, pretty funny!)
Allison Scott (Katherine Heigl) is an up-and-coming entertainment journalist whose 24-year-old life is on the fast track. But it gets seriously derailed when a drunken one-nighter with slacker Ben Stone results in an unwanted pregnancy.

HIDDEN PALMS - Starts tonight
May 30, 2007

After talking about HIDDEN PALMS for the last few days, it finally starts tonight on the CW at 8pm.
We all know that I will be tuning in. Even though the pilot was online on yahoo TV, I haven’t had the chance to take a look at it. Plus I want to watch the show in HD and not on my computer.
I can’t wait to see what Kevin Williamson (that would be Dawson’s Creek’s Creator) has in store for us with his new show. I know it probably won’t be as good as Dawson’s Creek was, but who knows, it might surprise me.
Stay tuned for my review of Hidden Palms.
UPDATE: For those of you who have already seen episode one of Hidden Palms, Yahoo TV just made episode two available. Unfortunately the pilot is offline. Watch episode two of Hidden Palms for free.

ON THE LOT - 3 directors sent home
May 29, 2007
Just finished watching ON THE LOT Result show.
3 directors down, 15 to go.
Here are the three directors that were sent home tonight on On The Lot:
Deliver Me by Carolina Zorrilla de San Martin - Even though I wasn’t too excited about her film, she wasn’t in my bottom three. But I am not sad that she got eliminated either. I feel neutral about her getting eliminated.
Watch Deliver Me.
Blind Date by Claudia La Bianca - She was in my bottom three, so no surprises there. It was time for her to go. I won’t miss her.
Watch Blind Date.
Please Hold by Phil Hawkins - I am surprised that Phil Hawkins got eliminated. I actually thought he was talented. Maybe his short wasn’t the best showcase for his abilities, but I really thought he deserved another week at least.
Watch Please Hold.
Only one out of my bottom three got eliminated, and that would be Claudia La Bianca. I guess it’s ok that Mateen Kemet got to stay another week, but I cannot get around to how Kenny Luby managed to get voted through to the next round. His film was the worse of the bunch, I absolutely did not get it. Hopefully he won’t be around too long.
As far as On The Lot goes, I have to say that Adrianna Costa really bugs me. I have a hard time watching her present On The Lot (I mean let’s face it, she is no Ryan Seacrest). Tonight’s result show was even more painful to watch than last night’s show. I almost forwarded through the whole results show and only watched the elimination parts.
Is it just me or do you guys feel the same way about Adrianna Costa? Maybe I have been spoiled by Ryan Seacrest…

You want dirt on HIDDEN PALMS? You got it…
May 29, 2007
So I talked to my friend who worked on HIDDEN PALMS to see if he had any dirt to give me. Turns out he did.
Exclusively for you guys, here is some dirt on the new CW show HIDDEN PALMS starting on May 30th at 8pm:
Apparently, Dawn Ostroff, the head of the CW, thought the lead actress Amber Heard (on the picture below) of Hidden Palms looked fat in the pilot and had certain shots removed and some even squeezed. (WHAT?!! She looks gorgeous to me.)
Amber Heard was forced to loose weight before the series started. While she is very very skinny in the other episodes of Hidden Palms, her performance suffers because they made her so unsure of herself.
All I can say is wow! What are you guys’ reactions and thoughts about this?
