Early Look: JOURNEYMAN second episode “Friendly Skies”
September 30, 2007

The nice people at NBC were kind enough to send me a screener from the second episode of JOURNEYMAN entitled “Friendly Skies” which airs on Monday.
It’s no secret that Journeyman is one of my favorite new shows and after watching the second episode, I can tell you that it’s still as good as the first episode if not better. Without giving anything away from the plot let me give you a few of my thoughts.
The second episode picks up where we left off last week with Dan (Kevin McKidd) traveling back in time again in order to help someone new. I really enjoy the way they set up the show. It creates conflict because Dan doesn’t know when he will “leave” or when he will come back. This creates some funny situations and some not so funny ones. If you liked the pilot, you’re in for a new treat.
The thing that appealed to me about the pilot is the formula, and even though this can be interpreted as a negative word, I use it here positively. What I mean with formula is that Journeyman is constructed in a way that each episode you get a new “mystery” where Dan (Kevin McKidd) travels through time and changes people’s lives, which makes it easy for people to just jump in at any point during the season. In addition, you have the overall mystery of why this is happening to him and what really happened to Livia, which rewards people for watching the show every week. If you think about it, this is very close to how Veronica Mars was set-up. Each week she would get a new case and in addition try to solve the overall mystery of the season.
Journeyman has been compared to Quantum Leap, and even though some people look at it as a negative thing, it’s one of the reasons I wanted to watch Journeyman in the first place. I have been waiting for a while to see a new show that would excite me as much as Quantum Leap used to. Why not make a new show that uses the same idea and modernize it? Because let’s face it, young people watching TV right now have probably never watched Quantum Leap in their lives, so why not bring them a show that will touch them the way Quantum Leap touched me? Isn’t that why Hollywood makes so many remakes of old movies? [Read more]

Chief Tyrol is a demon in REAPER
September 29, 2007
Battlestar Galactica Fans, this might interest you. It seems that our dear Chief Tyrol (Aaron Douglas) will be making an appearance in the new CW show REAPER as a Delivery Demon. If you don’t believe me, check out the picture above. I dig the horns don’t you?
When will this great encounter take place? Aaron Douglas will appear in the fifth episode of Reaper entitled “What About Blob.” If that’s not a good reason to tune in, then I don’t know what is.
I, of course, have been a fan of Reaper ever since I saw the pilot. You can read my review here.
No description of the episode has been released yet.
More photos from the episode after the jump. Some might contain spoilers. [Read more]

DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES - Season 4 Promo & Clip
September 29, 2007
In preparation for tonight’s new season, I decided to put this music video done to promote DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES with a song from Jennifer Lopez “Mile In These Shoes.” It looks pretty cool.
In addition, I thought I would share two clips from the season premiere, one that includes a quick look at Nathan Fillion. Enjoy!
Two more clips after the jump. [Read more]

On Tonight, Sunday 9/30: DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES, BROTHERS & SISTERS, and more…
September 29, 2007

DEXTER “It’s Alive!” - 9pm Showtime
Our favorite serial killer is back! It seems he just left… maybe it’s because he literally just left for me (if you have read my review of Dexter, then you know I just finished watching the first season two days ago.) Either way, I am so glad I will get to see the new adventures of Dexter tonight. And for those who are not on the Dexter train yet, what are you waiting for?

SIDE ORDER OF LIFE “Aliens” - 9pm Lifetime
Last week was the big reveal of who cell phone man was, none other than Ian Ziering (check out some pictures here) how cool is that? In tonight’s episode, Jenny and cell phone man Brian are on their first “official” date. This show is just so cute, it puts me in a good mood when I watch it. Did I mention I want Ian and Jenny back together?…Yes I did, I have been mentioning it the last few weeks… well, I still do.

DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES “Now You Know” - 9pm ABC
Desperate Housewives starts a whole new season tonight. I like Desperate Housewives, but am not as excited about the new season as I have been for past seasons. What I am excited about is seeing Nathan Fillion in his new role as a Desperate Husband.

FAMILY GUY “Movin’ Out (Brian’s Song)” - 9pm FOX
With last week’s episode of Family Guy, it’s safe to say that the show is back in full force! I am so surprised at some of the stuff FOX lets Family Guy do. Not that I dislike it, but it’s so outrageous sometimes I wonder if FOX is going to cut to that big ball from the Emmys.

AMERICAN DAD “Vacation Goo” - 9:30pm FOX
Even though American Dad is not as funny as Family Guy, it has its moments. My favorite character is Klaus, the german fish, he cracks me up.

BROTHERS & SISTERS “Home Front” - 10pm ABC
I know someone who’s happy this show is back tonight (*coughPhilippcough*). The Walkers are back with new stories that will make use laugh and cry. It was one of the surprises from last season for me, I didn’t expect to like it but after watching the pilot, I entered the Walker clan and became a member.
THE REST
EXTREME MAKEOVER: HOME EDITION “Akana Family” - 8pm ABC
I have never watched this show, but it actually sounds fun. I just don’t have time or space on my DVR to record it, plus it’s a reality show, which means it goes to the bottom of my list. Still, it’s back and I’m sure lots of people are going to be happy to get a Home Makeover.
BROTHERHOOD “One Too Many Mornings 3:4-8″ - 10pm Showtime
I never got into that show, I don’t even think I finished the pilot. I was probably not in the mood for that type of show at the time. It’s too bad because I really like Jason Isaacs who plays one of the main characters, Michael Caffee. I mean come on the man is Lucius Malfoy for crying out loud. How did this conversation get to Harry Potter again?
Also tonight, Cold Case (9pm CBS), Shark (10pm CBS).

MOONLIGHT bites!
September 29, 2007

MOONLIGHT premieres and bites!
I finally watched Moonlight last night and I was so right, I love it! It’s definitely one of the top 5 new TV shows this season (for the full list, click here).
First I’d like to say that I don’t know why people keep comparing Moonlight to Angel, because honestly I don’t see it. The only similarity between the two shows is that they both are about a vampire in Los Angeles who is a private detective (although in Angel he has a team of people working with him), other than that it’s two different shows. The look, the tone and the stories are all different. I would even go as far as saying (and I am going to get so much hate for this) that I liked Moonlight better than Angel. And before you start going like “WTF?!!” let me just say that I loved Angel (even though I liked Buffy better) and I wish it was still on, but if I had to make a choice today between watching Moonlight or Angel (and I wish I never have to make a choice like that but if I had to), I would choose Moonlight (based on the pilot and where I think the show is going). That’s how much I loved the pilot.
Here are some reasons why I loved it (might include spoilers if you haven’t seen it yet):
Alex O’Loughlin is such a brilliant actor. He has some of the best silent moments where you can see there is so much going on inside him. I noticed him in The Invisible and he was one of the best things about the movie. I think we should look out for him because even if Moonlight doesn’t work, he is going to do really well.
Sophia Myles. I have really admired her ever since I saw her in Tristan + Isolde, and was really excited when I found out she was added to the cast. Plus, she is such a likable character in Moonlight.
Jason Dohring. Unlike most Veronica Mars fans, I didn’t tune in to Moonlight to see him, but he is a fun addition to the cast. We didn’t see much of him in the pilot so I’ll hold off on saying anything until we see more of him. [Read more]

Welcome to the DEXTER train!
September 28, 2007

Last season when DEXTER started I initially wanted to take a look at it, especially since Six Feet Under had just ended. But with all the new shows starting, I never got the chance to watch an episode, that is until this summer. I decided to give Dexter a shot.
At first I thought Dexter was pretty good, but I didn’t think I was going to add the second season to my schedule, I was rather going to wait until the DVD for season two came out. Why? Because I liked Dexter enough to watch it during the summer when the craziness of the fall was over but not enough to want to tune in and watch it every week. Basically, I could wait. That all changed.
The more episodes I watched, the more I liked Dexter. When I finally got to the third DVD (out of four), I was hooked. When the last episode of the third DVD ended I almost screamed, it was such a cliffhanger. I had to wait a few days to get the final DVD with the final episode. And it was so worth the wait. I am now officially hooked on Dexter and will be watching the new season when it starts Sunday. How cool is it that I only have to wait 2 days to see the second season?
If you don’t know what Dexter is, let me explain, it’s a story about a serial killer who only kills other serial killers, so really he is a good guy; a good guy with an antisocial personality disorder. Still not convinced? What if I tell you the actor who portrays Dexter is Michael C. Hall (who played David Fisher in Six Feet Under) and that he is absolutely brilliant in the part. I have a whole new respect for him. Another cast member you might be interested in is Julie Benz who the Buffy and Angel fans know better as Darla. She plays such a different character in Dexter though, it’s really refreshing.
One of the most interesting things about Dexter, at least for me, is the whole idea that such a person was “trained” to use his urges for good. I don’t want to reveal too much for those who haven’t discovered the show yet, but it is very different from other shows out there. You should definitely take a look at Dexter, I think you might be pleasantly surprised.
For those already hooked, the second season of Dexter starts this Sunday at 9pm on Showtime. And if you can’t wait until then to watch the season premiere, thanks to a tip from the TV Addict, you don’t have to. Click here and enter the password “Killer Shows” to watch the season premiere of Dexter now.

DIRTY SEXY MONEY - “Pilot” Review
September 28, 2007

I wanted to make sure to mention my thoughts on DIRTY SEXY MONEY, especially since I wasn’t too excited about it. I am happy to say that I actually did like Dirty Sexy Money. I wasn’t blown away by it but it was WAY better than I expected. It doesn’t have a season pass yet because it still needs to step it up for me and get me more involved with the characters, but it has potential.
I would definitely recommend you take a look at one episode and then decide if this is the show for you. You might be surprised.
I think one of the best part of the episode is the opening scene with the Darlings arriving to the funeral. That whole sequence was pretty awesome with the music and everything. It’s funny how they portray them as celebrities just because they’re rich. And of course, who could forget the line that defines Dirty Sexy Money: “Well, you’re poor!” That was a good one.
I really like the actors too, especially Peter Krause and Donald Sutherland (which I had mentioned before), that definitely helped me like the show. The meeting where Tripp Darling (Donald Sutherland) offers Nick George (Peter Krause) 5 million dollars as if it was nothing was interesting, in a good way. Did I mention I love these two actors?
I wish I could remember more of the little things I liked about the show, but I have watched so much TV the last few days that everything is starting to get blurry. Some shows need to get cancelled soon or I will go crazy, there is too much to watch and if it stays that way, I might have to give up on a few shows.
