I hope you like Doctor Who, it's worth knowing that they were finding their feet a little during the first series (it was the first prime time UK Science Fiction series for some time) but things come together really well in the second half of the series (pretty much from episode 6 onwards).

That aside, my main reason for posting was <a href="http://freemaagyeman.com/news/2007/12/25/torchwood-series-two-trailer-two/" rel="nofollow">another Torchwood trailer</a> - this time it's a BBC one.

Thanks for the links Matthew. I will post the trailer for Torchwood this week I think, because I'm really excited about it.
I also put Doctor Who on my netflix queue, so if I like it, I'll probably be talking about it too.

Probably best to delete my last comment, as the links are broken. I'll try again:

<a href="http://freemaagyeman.com/news/2007/12/19/torchwood-s2-trailer-martha/" rel="nofollow">A better version of the Torchwood trailer</a>.

BBC America is re-running Torchwood Series One at the moment, and will start showing Series Two on January 26, 2008 (It starts in the UK on January 16, probably). The first episode has James Marsters as a guest star.

By the way, John Barrowman (who plays Captain Jack) is a joint US/UK citizen, he was born in Scotland but grew up in Illinois. His career has mainly been in the UK, but he did try to make it in the US as well.

If you enjoy Torchwood, it's worth checking out it's parent programme, Doctor Who. Captain Jack was originally a character on that show. He appeared in the last 5 episodes of the first series of the revived 2005 version (the original lo-fi version of Doctor Who ran for 26 seasons between 1963 and 1989, with a TV movie in 1996) which starred Christopher Eccleston (before his spectacuar guest turn as Claude on Heroes). The origin of the rift in Cardiff is also dealt with in Series One (in a episode that features Eve Myles in a different role) and Tosh also features briefly. Series Two includes a running storyline about the foundation of Torchwood and climaxes with the destruction of Torchwood One in what Jack calls "the battle of Canary Wharf". Series Three sees Jack returning in Episode 11, which follows on directly from the end of Torchwood Series One. It also introduces a character called Martha Jones who will be appearing in Series Two of Torchwood.

Doctor Who is a family show, and so has to be suitable for children, so it has a different tone to Torchwood. However, it can still be pretty dark (it just can't feature gore, sex or swearing) and is definitely worth investigating. In some ways it's a Buffy to Torchwood's Angel - and Torchwood definitely makes more sense if you've seen both shows. All three Doctor Who series are available on DVD and are getting repeat showings on BBC America and the Sci-Fi Channel.

Also worth investigating a great 1990s UK six-part series called 'Ultraviolet' which is like an extra-serious version of Torchwood, but with vampires. Sci-Fi have shown it (I'm not sure if they're planning to do so again, soon) and it's available on DVD.

Malcolm in the Middle is one I've discovered in re-runs. It's great. It's not only amazingly funny but it's 3 dimensional. There's real emotional content in many of the episodes which make the show stand out among other sitcoms.

The real backbone of the show is Jane Kaczmarek. She really projects in her character and it really stands out. A top rate show all around.

I am almost done watching S2 of SPN (for the 3rd? time) and my BFF comes to town at the end of the month. Guess what we will be doing? I am telling you - this never gets old!

The first season of HEX is great. The second one, meh. It's ok. But I still watch repeats on BBC America on Saturday nights. (not to mention I actually own both seasons on DVD - I couldn't help myself! What if the cable goes out and I can't watch TV?????)

I am currently catching up on HIMYM with help from Netflix.

Isn't it great to discover a new show and be able to watch it in like a week. It's so exciting!

As for Hex, I always meant to watch it but never did. I'm guessing you like it since you mentioned it... I might have to add it on my Netflix queue then. :-)

Somehow, I too, missed Supernatural! Until this past summer, that is! I watched S1 in like, a week. As soon as S2 came out? Bought it. Watched it in 4 days. I watch an ep or two each night before I go to sleep. I got my best friend to watch it and now she is a Supernatural geek too! (So is her mom)

I never was big in to MITM but I have seen a couple of eps of Tourchwood. It's no HEX!
