A TV series that followed Sean Bean ("Lord of the Rings") as Richard Sharpe, a Maverick Officer in the British army fighting in the Napoleonic Wars.
It shows Sharpe's rise through the ranks of Lord Wellingtons' army due to his courageous antics. There were only 14 episodes made over 4 years, but the show has a massive cult following. The series was based on the Novels written by Bernard Cornwell.

Dave, there's a 15th Sharpe, Sharpe's Challenge, aired in 2006. And if you want to see the next one go into production, join the campaign to get Sharpe's Peril into production. It's hit budget problems due to the drive to wipe out intelligent telly and replace it with crap reality programming and insipid sitcoms.
