This major change could be a great move for the show. In addition to giving us a breath of fresh air, it will provide the writers with new material for some of the story lines.
After reading more and more about the new season, I decided that I was looking forward to the new season and all the changes from the show. You can also read the first episode "4 Years, 6 Months, 2 Days" description and take a look at some pictures from it here.

What does the fifth season of One Tree Hill hold for us?
The fifth season of "One Tree Hill" will be unprecedented in the annals of television drama, as the show leaps forward four years. Season four ended as the young characters graduated high school and season five begins post-college, four years later. Some of the characters have found success while others have failed. Some are the same, some are very different. And while their storylines will actively move forward, the show will also dip into the past, returning to incidents and events of the last four years, sometimes for a moment or a scene, other times for an entire episode.
It's been four years since the gang left Tree Hill and many things have changed. With the help of his editor Lindsey (Michaela McManus), Lucas published his first novel "An Unkindness of Ravens," and now works on his second. Along with Skills (Antwon Tanner), Lucas also coaches his former high school basketball team, vowing to take the team to another championship. When Peyton (Hilarie Burton) graduated from high school, she loved two things: Lucas and music. Did leaving Tree Hill for an internship at a record company in Los Angeles change her mind about either passion? Or did her time away from Tree Hill simply make her two loves stronger? Her best friend Brooke (Sophia Bush), was chasing her dream of becoming a top fashion designer with her clothing line "Clothes over Bros." Four years later, Brooke has found some success, but at what cost? Similarly, Nathan (James Lafferty) and Haley (Bethany Joy Galeotti) have also endured the highs and lows of Nathan's career path, but have balanced this journey with the joys of parenthood as they raise their young son, James (Jackson Brundage). And speaking of highs and lows, Mouth (Lee Norris) continues to chase a career in broadcasting but is finding the on-air business to be cut-throat and difficult.
And what of the other familiar faces of Tree Hill, the friends we've come to know along the way? As each character left home four years ago, did they forget the closeness they once shared with each other? Or is it all still there, waiting to be recaptured...in a place called Tree Hill.

I am so excited for OTH 5th season! I've been watching re-runs for months now...can't wait to see who lucas takes to marry him in VEGAS! Nathan and Haley are so perfect with the cutest son ever, and I swear i wanted to kill that nanny...but I'm glad dan choked her! Brooke has an awesome clothing line and she's totally hot. Peyton is the greatest, and Mia love her music. Mouth and skills are such good friends. Karen is the sweetest and coolest mom! I love how everyone has grown! I LOVE THE CAST OF ONE TREE HILL!
Ok i loved the whole season. it really made me said when brooke had to take the baby back to the air port so she could go back home. And then i love the part were brooke was briinging the baby to jamie's birth day party and one of jameis little friends came out side when brookes baby was sleeping and the kid shouted out DO YOU HAVE ANY CHICKEN WINGS. and then brook said do you have and insice voice and then payton said well brooke we are outside. i tought it was great. and then when jamie and skittles and nathen were at the jim of the high school and sikktles and jamie were playing basketball and both of them made a shot in started raping and then nathen started raping in chaering them on and the skittles and jamie looked at nathen and said no your doing that wrong. that was priceless. then it made me cry when lucas almost married that girl linsey. but linsey said no. and what made me mad is that lucas still loves linsey when he should love payton. Chad Michael Murray what is wrong with you for not loving payton. you make me upset at times. oh and dont enen get me started on the nanny of jamie i can not beleave that she would swim naked in there pool and flurt with haleys husband. oh and when she stoll jamie away from his parents and they went to this crappy hotel and she wanted to die his hair balck. i was so excited when dan saved little james scott. ohj i was filled with relief. well thats all i have to say untill next season bye

hello we are very big one tree hill fans, so here are some spoilers for all you fans out there
1. nanny carrie gets shot by dan
2. lucas ends up with peyton WHOOOOO
3. peyton gets pregnant with lucases baby BUT peyton falls ill and if she keeps the baby, it will kill her during birth
OH DEAR
4. brook gets her shop broken into, and gets badly beaten
5. Dan dies
6. nanny carrie comes back from the dead
7. Quentin dies
OH NO NOT QUENTIN!!

Loved the season, i just had a heart transplant last year so im waiting to see how they are going make it work with Dan, play fail or no fail with the acting XD. Ahhh I'm still pinning for lucas and peyton. I really would love for Jake to come back and Peyton and him to be together. I'm hanging out for season 6 to start/come out on dvd here.
