THE 4400 and THE DEAD ZONE cancelled
The Ausiello Report announced that USA Network cancelled THE 4400 and THE DEAD ZONE. This means that the last episode we saw of each show is actually the final episode of the series.
This is probably the most upsetting news this week. In addition to the cancellation of Journeyman, now they take away The 4400 (I don't watch The Dead Zone). I was so looking forward to next season of The 4400 after the intense finale this September (you can read my thoughts on The 4400 finale here). This really comes out of the blue, I thought for sure we were getting a new season, plus with everybody getting new powers and promicin everywhere, I was expecting for the fifth season to be one of the best.
The 4400 grew and got better and better every season. It's so sad that it had to be cancelled without a proper ending. I can only hope for some sort of a resolution in the shape of a miniseries or one final episode. But let's face it though, how often did this happen?
Executive Producer Scott Peters made the announcement in The 4400 message boards. You can read his post below.
To all the wonderful fans of The 4400
It's with great sadness that I pass along to you the information I've just received -- The 4400 has been cancelled. We've had a great time bringing you this story and submersing you in the lives of all these incredible characters. Thank you especially to the folks on the board here whose tireless devotion to the show is nothing short of remarkable. Shout out to Bubba, by the way! I love your posts, man.
I just spoke to Joel and we had a great talk about what we all accomplished and how much we'll miss our family that is our crew and our cast... and our fans. But at least we got to go out with a bang! I had an awesome time directing the last episode. I think I got to make almost every single cast member cry (on camera). How much fun was that?!
So let me raise my metaphorical glass to you all and thank you for being so loyal and so dedicated. I wish we could go on forever, but the party has come to an end. Be well and on behalf of all of us at The 4400 -- thank you, it's been a pleasure.

Poor Sandie... all your shows always get canceled. I wonder, why that is. Hmmmmm...
Wow, Philipp that was so uncalled for... Did you have a bad night? LOL
You just wait until one of your shows gets cancelled, I'll get you!!!
haven't they 'cancelled' the dead zone several times before and it's ended up coming back anyway?
one can hope
This is such a shame, both shoes were something to look forward too, I am going to miss them.
I liked the Dead Zone a lot. But I can understand why the show was canceled (even though I still wish it was on). TV shows have storyline which arc over many episodes, and in some cases, seasons. Here lies "The Dead Zone's" fatal flaw. The apocalypse. The Dead Zone was on for 6 seasons, yet at the end of season 6, the overarching storyline was still the same unsolved problem of Season 1. When is John Smith going to fix the Apocalypse?! At the end of Season 5 (or was it the middle of season 6, I don't remember), I thought that the apocalypse was finally done with. And when it came back at the end of season 6, all I could think of was, not the apocalypse! What I'm trying to say is the show moved too slowly. The TV show should have moved on from the plot of the Dead Zone book, and started something new, that all fans, who hadn't read the book, or seen the movie, would have enjoyed.
Unfortunately, it seemed that the show was finally starting to pick up the pace with the season (now series) finale. It's a shame the writers couldn't tie everything up. The show also suffered from the loss of John Smiths friend Bruce, and the loss of the Sheriff. Not many shows can survive the loss of two main characters, and this one didn't. It faced, quite ironically, its own apocalypse.
I really liked the show, so did my husband...
We hate to see the show go .
We hope enough people will fight to help keep the show from
being cancelled.... It won't be the same on Sunday 's .
Thank You , Pat
We really like the Dead Zone . We have been waiting for it and 4400 to come back on . If they wanted to cancel something , cancel Monk and some other show .
Come on people we need to fight to keep the show on the air ..
Thank You Pat
I am so upset.
I had not heard about both cancellations : (
Maybe another network can pick them up.
Granted Dead Zone does seem to have a conclusion--the apocolypse.
But 4400.
At least do a final movie to see what ends up happening with all the characters.
Perhaps the whole thing was just one of Tom's delusions.
The story seems to center around him.
I just wish they would finalize the show.

I think 4400 was the most AMAZING show i have EVER seen on t.v and i really dont know why they cancelled it!...me and all my family in england watch it and are devestated that there wont be a season 5!...please make one or how about a movie to bring it to an end? eh eh?? PLEASE I BEG YOU.!!!
This is why the USA Network sucks..it cancels two great shows on the network...i do agree the Apocalypse angle should of been exsplored more (and it was a huge loss to see actors John L Smith ( who played Johnny's loyal sidekick Bruce ) and Chris Bruno ( who played Sheriff Bannerman ) Leave the Dead Zone...but it still suprised me that they just pulled the plug ---- usually they do that when the show starts to lag in ratings....it also didnt help that they moved the Show around in different time slots over its last few years....
USA Network u lost a fan that will no longer watch your network
U SUCK!
This always happens when finally we have shows worth watching during off season. It gets CANCELED. These two were the best shows to watch. I am tired of the reality shows that keep coming on, it's as if there is nothing better to put on shows other than stupid reality shows. Bring real shows to television. Bring 4400 and the Dead Zone back. PLEASE!!!!!!!!
absurdo!
save the 4400!
season five now!
Ok what's up with these people who makes these decisions, I am sooo upset that they cancelled these shows that I just want to meet the people who did it and pound their heads in. that was the best show that USA has ever had and they canceled it. what a bunch of dopes. don't get me wrong burn notice is good but not as the 4400. we should all get together and boycott.
It's so sad that The 4400 has been cancelled. Why did they do that, it was such an good T.V. show. I loved it, and I can't believe they did that, and it didn't even end. Is there really going to be an movie of The 4400? Yes we shold boycott they, something to get the 4400 back. Start an putishen? And that all the people that want the show back sign it.
I am really tired of getting involved in shows only to have those shows canceled and not just on USA. I look forward to several "off season" shows on both USA Network and the Sci-Fi channel and both have disappointed me...USA canceling The 4400 and the Dead Zone and Sci-Fi canceling The Dresden Files and Painkiller Jane.
And why is USA making The Starter Wife a series?!
Maybe if we start boycotting the channels completing someone would start listening to us (the fans) for a change!
4400 needs to keep on going? that was a great show. maybe just a little behind heroes but still was excellent. They should just transfer it to another network.
