THE RUSSELL GIRL on CBS - Pictures and Promo

THE RUSSELL GIRL - Amber Tamblyn as Sarah Russell and Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio as Gayle Russell on CBS

And my love of Hallmark Hall of Fame movies continues this Sunday, January 27th, with a whole new movie, THE RUSSEL GIRL. The movie stars Amber Tamblyn who plays Sarah Russell, a 23-year-old aspiring medical school student who visits her loving family to share some important news, but instead finds herself attempting to finally confront a difficult period from her past.

I have been a fan of Amber Tamblyn ever since Joan of Arcadia, and am looking forward to see her in a new TV movie.

In addition to Amber Tamblyn, The Russell Girl also stars Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio, Jennifer Ehle, Tim DeKay, Henry Czerny, and Paul Wesley.

Watch the promo and more pictures below, and don't forget to watch The Russell Girl January 27th at 9 pm on CBS.

Synopsis: Sarah Russell's rare visit from Chicago to her small hometown is a welcome surprise to her parents (Mastrantonio and DeKay), her 21-year-old brother, Daniel (Daniel Clark), and her former boyfriend, Evan (Paul Wesley). Sarah decides to withhold the true reason for her homecoming after an old conflict resurfaces during an uncomfortable encounter with Lorraine Morrisey (Ehle), who lives across the street from the Russells with her husband, Howard (Henry Czerny), and two teen-aged boys (Ben Lewis, Max Morrow). Sarah's sudden presence has a debilitating effect on Lorraine, who rebuffs Sarah's attempts to make amends. However, Sarah musters the courage to keep trying, knowing that she must finally deal with her past as a means of being able to face her future. It takes time for Lorraine to put the past behind her and to grasp that forgiving Sarah will not only ease Sarah's burden but also her own.

    Hello--
I was wondering if anyone knew what the song was when she was driving after annie lennox' "dark road" plays? The lyrics go something like "I'm doing fine one step at a time by the way. Its you on mind. Its you on my mind" or something along those lines. I've been searching frantically for it to no avail! Please help!
    Thanks

When will The Russel Girl be airing again. They interrupited the whole show with the news.

  21. Bill Feb 2, 2008 | at 5:59 PM Reply

I doubt if the artist who sang the song at the end (and during the credits) is Rascal Flatts, especially since the vocalist was female. I just sampled three of Rascal Flatts albums and none of their songs sound like the one we're searching for.

If anyone has purchased the DVD, please let us know if the artist is mentioned and if she performs it on the video. Thanks!

The song is "So Still" by Jeff Beal - composed for the movie. They are working on a I-Tunes release of the song.

  23. David Crow Feb 12, 2008 | at 9:31 AM Reply

LuAnn is correct here more information below.

The other song people were asking about is a Schuyler Fisk song called, "Waking Life" which is on her MySpace page.

Closing Song from the Hallmark Hall of Fame Movie "The Russell Girl" aired Sunday 1/27/2008 on CBS

"SO STILL" (Title of Sarah's song..at the end and end credits of the
    movie)

written by Jeff Beal sung by Beth Thornley

    A breath, a hush, a mem'ry,
    they call out a name.
    I know this place,
'cause it feels the same, the same.

    I give away the silence,,
I breathe, let go of the past.
    I hold so still,
I have to make this moment last....

    Today, I start, all over,
just breathe, let go of the past...
    I know my way,
comin' home at last, at last,

    A breath, a hush, a mem'ry,
    I breathe, remember your touch
    I hold so still
Now I know what I can trust....

Looking forward to an iTunes Release.

  26. David Feb 2, 2009 | at 11:09 PM Reply

Mara - the song you are looking for is Schuyler Fisk "Waking Life" from Penelope Soundtrack 2008. Lyrics are dated 2007:

    Waking life

There’s an anchor that’s pulling on my heart,
And it’s deep in the water but it can’t take me down.
Tracin’ faces with fingers and we’re just the same as we were,
Just our eyes never found what I see now,
That my feet are on the ground.

    Chorus:
Cause I'm not lost, just looking for footprints.
I’m taking it, one step at a time and I’m getting by.
    By the way,
    It’s you on my mind,
    It’s you on my mind.

And here comes the night pulling puppet strings on my heart again,
Shows me all of this time I’ve been blind to this waking life.
    Now I...see it everywhere.

    Chorus:
Cause I'm not lost, just looking for footprints,

    Yeah.
And I’m takin it, one day at a time and I’m gettin by.
    By the way.
    You’re still on my mind,
    You’re still on my mind.

    I...can’t...see...you but I know you’re here,
    I, know you’re here.
    I, know you’re here.

I’m not lost, just looking for footprints.
I’m taking it, one step at a time and I’m getting by.
    By the way.

I’m not lost, just looking for footprints.
And I’m takin it, one step at a time and I’m gettin’ by.

    And you’ll still on my,
Oh you’re still on my mind,
    You’re still on my mind,
Oh you’re still on my mind,
Oh you’re still on my mind.
