SMALLVILLE - Lex Luthor and Lana Lang not returning?

Smallville - Michael Rosenbaum and Kristen Kreuk

It is very unfortunate that I must be the bearer of such upsetting news, but it has to be done.

According to the Ausiello Report, even though SMALLVILLE has been renewed for an 8th Season, it seems that not everyone will be back.

Michael Rosenbaum and Kristen Kreuk have informed the producers of the show that they will not be returning as regulars next season. But before you start panicking, they have mentioned that they are open to "doing limited engagements."

I don't know about you but I can't imagine what Smallville would look like without Lana Lang or even worse, without Lex Luthor!

I really hope they find a way to bring them back often enough so as to keep the integrity of the show intact.

Stay tuned!

I'm honestly not sad to see Lana go...but Lex??? Lex?????? I guess Clark still needs to embrace his superhero-ness and the story could focus there...

I will be glad to see an end to the Clana drama. Clark and Lana are clearly not happy together and it's time for him to move on. Check out more about Smallville on my blog. http://villapequena.blogspot.com/

They should be staying! Both characters have always been very colorful and significant in the twists and turns of all the episodes. The clana team has to end up meaningfully. I've always adored the romantic team up. I love it! I hope the new set of writers would be able to maneuver perfectly the season finale. I'm looking forward to more sizzling scenes of clana.

Finally the whore Lana Lang is gone!! Why did it take 7 years for the producers to realize that she ruins the television show? Her character is pointless and boring and takes up way to much screen time. By stating (the producer) that Clark Kent will never fly or wear the Superman uniform has limited the potential of the series. The show still portrays Clark as an insecure/indecisive "teen" when he's a grown man and should be acting accordingly.

Make the 8th season one whole story arc ending with him becoming Superman.

Kristin Kreuk has an IQ close to genius so she's probably fed up with how the writers made Lana just a female in distress. If they had made her into a kick-butt female warrior like what she's finally playing in Chun-Li, Smallville would have a VERY interesting twist because Clark would have someone who is an equal. Obviously so many fans loved Lana Lang in Smallville enough to have her be a major storyline of Smallville so it is so sad to see her go, especially in the matter that she did. Michael Rosenbaum is one of the best actors of this generation, and it is a shame he hasn't gotten a good film role that showcases it. I can't think of Smallville as Smallville without the big 3 - Clark, Lana, and Lex. Chloe is great, but she really isn't essential to the storyline, and the addition of Lois and Kara is ridiculous since the writers only treat their characters as eye-candy for nerdy guys. Why is Lois even on the show?

Its so dumb that they left. Lex and Lana are the best stars on the show. The main reson i watch it is for the Clark and Lana scenes. Now shes not in it. They could atleast spend more money to keep them in the smallville show. Whats worse spendng extra money or losing 50% of your fan base.

Lex Luthor should be an ongoing part of the Smallville show, but Lana Lang, needs to be gone forever. She is no longer needed in the show, as Lois Lane is Clarks romantic connection now. Lana Lang was a part of his growing up years. He is grown and I am glad she is gone. She should have been gone 2 years ago.

I have not been around the tv much in awhile but I don't think they should have gotten rid of either character. Thats just not cool. I will check out the new episode comming up but im not sure if I will llike it anymmore lex and lana were my 2 favorite characters.

I can't even watch Smallville anymore. Without Lex and Lana, the show just isn't the same. I really wish the producers of the show would have ended Smallville a couple of seasons ago, instead of dragging it on and (GAG) starting a romance between Lois and Clark. (This is Smallville, NOT Superman.) The show just doesn't have the appeal that it once did, and without the regular cast of characters, it seriously lacks heart. Ideally, I would liked to see Clark and Lana end up together, but it doesn't seem that is the fate of Smallville. So sad.
