JERICHO cancelled! (Again!) - 3/21/2008

Jericho Cancelled

Yes, it’s true, CBS has done it again, they have canceled JERICHO and I think this time for good.

According to Watch with Kristen, CBS has informed the producers and cast of Jericho that there won’t be any additional episodes and have released the following statement:

“The March 25 episode of Jericho will be the series finale. Without question, there are passionate viewers watching this program; we simply wish there were more. We thank an engaged and spirited fan base for keeping the show alive this long, and an outstanding team of producers, cast and crew that went through creative hoops to deliver a compelling, high quality second season. We have no regrets bringing the show back for a second try. We listened to our viewers, gave the series an opportunity to grow, and the producers put a great story on the screen. We’re proud of everyone’s efforts.”

Well, that sucks. Not only was Jericho canceled once, it was cancelled twice. That must hurt. And I was starting to like this season even more than last.

Damn you CBS! (Please don’t cancel Moonlight as well!)

What do you guys think about the second cancellation of Jericho?

I can’t believe they cancelled the show again. CBS will never learn. I hope that the show gets picked up on cable. I think SciFi or TNT would be a good fit for this show.

  2. Kate on March 21st, 2008 4:30 pm

I’m stunned. this show was perfect. I’m tired of the garbage on TV/ Only Jericho was real and was compelling enough to keep me glued to the tube.

  3. Karl on March 21st, 2008 4:55 pm

“Without question, there are passionate viewers watching this program; we simply wish there were more.” Are you kidding me? You program the show poorly and then you act surprised that you have low ratings.

I also hope it gets picked up.

  4. Dusty on March 21st, 2008 5:05 pm

I hope so too. I actually don’t want the show to come back to CBS. That network doesn’t respect its viewers.
Battlestar Galactica is doing well on Sci Fi. Why wouldn’t Jericho?

  5. Derek White on March 21st, 2008 6:11 pm

I vote for a 2nd edition of the NUTS campaign!

  6. Moonlight on March 21st, 2008 6:36 pm

I agree with the Moonlight thing and I couldn’t watch Jericho because it was on so freaking’ late!

  7. Nicole Rogers on March 22nd, 2008 3:44 am

    I love Jericho!!!
Sometimes I think CBS is brainless. Does anyone know if they at least are having an ending of some kind?
I don’t know about anyone else, but I’m about ready to Boycott CBS.

  8. morgan on March 22nd, 2008 2:31 pm

god damnit cbs! they’re pissed off cause the fans of jericho are so tired of getting jerked around by them, we either watch it on tv, or online. i know tons of people who love this show, its an Awesome show, i hope it gets picked up, but in the mean time. we should do something to show our contempt for CBS, fuckers.

  9. Gina on March 22nd, 2008 9:01 pm

    I’ve had it with CBS.
Another great show bites the dust because of a group of people don’t know a good thing when it bites them in the! Nuts……
I hope it does get picked up by another channel and if it does I’ll just stick with that channel.
I work weird hours and have to tape it to see the show.

    Bye Bye CBS ………

  10. David Moehrke on March 22nd, 2008 11:28 pm

Maybe the SciFi channel cbe made to pick up the show. Remember Stargate SG1 was orginally a Showtime show.

  11. yasmin on March 24th, 2008 8:09 am

I can’t believe CBS has cancelled “Jericho” Damn you CBS! What a tease! Why bring it back if in the end you knew you were going to cancel the show? I love this show. I watch this show every time it is on- I also watch it online and through Comcast On Demand.
Too hell with CBS! Instead of keeping great shows with excellent writing and an amazing cast you rather keep garbage on the air and then you wonder why network tv is losing it’s audience.

  12. Skip on March 24th, 2008 4:28 pm

A ratings system is outdated and not keeping up with todays consumer viewing habits. An overhaul is needed with a system in place that recognizes people that record programming and that information needs to be combined with the Nielsens. I’d be willing to bet shows like Jericho would have a long healthy life if this exsisted. Until then please USA, TNT, Sci-Fi, Fox or whoever, step up and do the right thing. How many programs exsist today that actually make sit and wonder “What if”?

  13. T Bishop on March 24th, 2008 5:29 pm

I think this really stinks!! Jericho is one of the best on tv right now and I just can’t believe CBS is stupid enough to cancel, especially without a conclusion!! I say BOYCOTT CBS!!!!!

  14. Bill on March 24th, 2008 8:13 pm

It was their best show. Their others shows are SOS, cops, sitcoms, and the usual crap. Now there is no reason to bother turning CBS on. I hope some savy network picks up Jericho. It was a great show, different genre than the usual junk on the tube. Too bad they moved it to 10pm when most working people have already gone to bed. Bye, bye, CBS.

  15. Joe on March 25th, 2008 1:50 am

This is bullshit. JERICO is one of the best shows on T.V. and they are gonna cancell it FUCK CBS then. I hope that some other channel picks this show up and make CBS regret cancelling a very, very good show NUTS CAMPAIGN2 please everyone BRING THIS SHOW BACK

  16. Adam on March 25th, 2008 6:57 am

Money talks. Reality tv garbage is cheap to produce and there are plenty of mental midgets out there that believe it’s reality and eat it up.
CBS has even removed the “Leave Feedback” link on their website. I guess they figure if they can’t see how pissed off people are that means they’re not. CBS is a loser network the only thing that bailed their asses out was Letterman. Even he’s getting a little tired.
Well, now that Jericho is gone, I can cancel my satellite subscription. Now there’s NOTHING worth watching.

  17. Paul on March 25th, 2008 7:47 am

Once again we see that Neilen’s ratings system is fundamentally flawed… like Firefly, Journey Man, and countless other shows before it anyone can see that there are more people watching than the numbers say and that science fiction oriented shows simply don’t stand a chance with the typical Neilsen household.

If we ever live long enough to see ala carte cable programming this nonsense will largely be a thing of the past.

  18. Krista on March 25th, 2008 10:43 am

I am so over CBS. They had the show on such a long hiatus between season 1 and 2 with very little advertising that it was even coming back - they set the show up to fail. Well goodbye CBS - that was the only show I watched on your network! If only SciFi would pick up this series…..

  19. N Wright on March 25th, 2008 10:59 am

We need to get organized in order to bring it back for season 3. I think Sci Fi would be a perfect fit. We need to be contacting Sci Fi and letting them know what we think. The actors need to know that the fans support them and the show. NEVER GIVE UP. KEEP FIGHTING!!! We won once and we can do it again.

  20. Shirley Sickels on March 25th, 2008 5:37 pm

CBS cancelled it again?? Idiots. This is the ONLY show that will make me drop everything to watch. I agree with another poster - I hope someone at the SciFi channel picks it up. Or FX…they had the balls to give us The Shield and NipTuck.

As long as networks refuse to give the viwers good programming, feed us reality TV garbage, I will continue NOT watching the Networks. CBS - NUTS TO YOU!

  21. Adam Bundy on March 25th, 2008 5:56 pm

I can not believe the CBS executives are not in touch with their viewers…. I went to CBS website, we should call them and write them…. The numbers and addresses are below: BRING BACK THE NUTS !!!!!

The mailing addresses for CBS are as follows: CBS Television Network
    51 West 52nd Street
    New York, NY 10019
    Main Number:
    (212) 975-4321

    CBS News
    555 West 57th Street
    New York, NY 10019
    Main Number:
    (212) 975-4114

  22. Dave R on March 25th, 2008 6:18 pm

I never watch the networks and caught my first episode channel surfing while out of town a month ago. I had to buy season 1 on DVD to catch up. I guess I’m back to never watching the networks again.

  23. Bill Williams on March 25th, 2008 7:21 pm

Is there a posability that cbs could sell the rest of the season on dvd?

  24. Kristine Williams on March 25th, 2008 8:13 pm

I have watched every episode of Jericho. It is written, produced and acted so well. Why is it being cancelled? The story lines were always so compelling and something like this could certainly happen here in the USA. Please either bring it back or maybe another network can pick it up. I know there are alot of fans out there that are so upset about this. Pleae speak up!!!

  25. Steven W. on March 25th, 2008 8:34 pm

I would have to say that this is typical of CBS. If it’s good and people like it take it away. Imagine how many fewer viewers CBS is going to have now. I myself only watch that network one time a week. When Jericho is on, so now I have no reason to watch it at all. There have been several statements the “NUTS CAMPAIGN” should be brought back to try and save probably the best show on TV to day. To this I agree however focusing on a lost network seems like a waste of time to me. Since SCI-FI has already picked up the first season of Jericho it only seems right to bombard them with the “NUTS COMPAIGN” and let them see how strong the fan base is in hopes that they will continue and prosper where CBS continually fails.

  26. George Stevens on March 25th, 2008 10:07 pm

    It Sucks!

  27. Aurea Glorioso on March 25th, 2008 11:37 pm

I agree with all of the above. I have no reason to watch cbs.The only show I watched on cbs was Jericho. Now that it’s done, so am I.

  28. CBS Sucks on March 26th, 2008 12:14 am

I dont understand why CBS keeps cancelling this show. They ditch the show just as things were picking up. Then they bring it back right in the middle of the writers’ strike just as normal TV viewers are “off their schedule”. Give the damn show a full season with some fair advertising. Drum up some hype after selling Season 1 on DVD. The show never had a fair run and they keep cutting it. CBS must be run by a bunch of morons who have idiots reporting to them.

  29. Chris on March 26th, 2008 6:19 am

CBS BLOWS. Like all have said Jericho was the best show.

  30. Dee Dee Duhon on March 26th, 2008 7:27 am

Let’s boycott CBS!!!!!!! Everyone comment that I have read says the same thing. CBS excs are morons. They are just like politicans they don’t care what the people think it is only what they want. If they had done just a little advertising and not put tje show on so late it may have had more viewers. They also don’t know how many people were recording and watching at a later date.

  31. natasha on March 26th, 2008 7:58 am

I am so upset with CBS. It seems to me that they put it on so late so they wouldn’t have to bring it back because people are not watching it. I also dont watch many TV shows but was interested in it. I hope that it comes back to another channel.
When will we no forsure that it isn’t coming back?

  32. david on March 26th, 2008 10:37 am

I would love to join in the screw CBS posts.. but in reality CBS did us all a favor. They did allow for a second, although way too short, season. Which allowed the nuke and two country story line to finish very nicely. So while I fault CBS for poor scheduling decisions, too many moves to different days and times, lack of promotion etc…. at least we got our semi-happy ending.

Hopefully one of the cable networks will pick up the show, a modern day civil war with two highly trained and equipped armies.. who wouldn’t want to see that.

Jericho would be a great fit on FX.

  33. Luke Matthews on March 26th, 2008 10:41 am

I think the issue here is the fact that the show is on CBS. CBS has got to have three blind monkeys choosing their shows. It’s like having the best prostitute in the world living in a nunnery. It doesn’t belong there and all the crosses keep the customers away. In this case, the crosses are all the crappy shows. Sorry jesus for the cross thing, but you get my point.

  34. sherri on March 26th, 2008 11:26 am

Why is it every show i like they alway seem to take it off. They didn’t even close the loose ends on the show. It’s not about cops, lawyers or forencis so they close it down. The least they could do is make a movie letting us all know how everything ends. And what about the other ending they had written. Where’s it at.

  35. Ann on March 26th, 2008 12:08 pm

I can’t believe their taking Jericho off again!!! What is it with CBS anyways. What, do they want to become a CSI only network. I’m so sick to death of those shows-really. Jericho was the best show I’ve seen in years. I’m so depressed. There must be something we can do!!!!!

  36. Luke on March 26th, 2008 2:11 pm

Well first off BOOO to you CBS. you should begin to relize come next season that you made a big mistake when Sci-fi, TNT, FX, USA or the CW decide to pick up the show. And then when you fill that slot with some garbage of a “reality show” then you will have absolutely nothing to compete with Lost on ABC.

I hope the show gets picked up by a cable station

“CBS Cares” about what? obvisouly not their veiwers or ratings

  37. Pat on March 26th, 2008 2:14 pm

I’ll add my upset with this show’s cancellation to everybody else’s. The second season shows were outstanding and the storyline still leaves me wanting to see what happens next in spite of the finale they gave us. The strength of this show is not only in its writing and acting, but in how thought provoking the story is. It certainly is a lot more plausibe than other doomsday shows and movies have been. I’m keeping my TiVo season pass just in case some other cable station is smart enough to pick this series up before they lose too many of those responsible for it to other jobs. This series is TV worth watching and deserved a better timeslot and promotion than CBS gave it.

  38. sheila on March 26th, 2008 3:45 pm

the 2nd season was really good. amazing that cbs, nbc, and abc, cancel creative and imaginative shows, yet keep on wife swap, supernanny, bachelor, etc. it tells me how little respect they have four our intelligence

  39. John on March 26th, 2008 10:11 pm

I’m just reading this now. Is it for real? They have a great setup for a 3RD SEASON! CBS is really missing the boat if they are really cancelling it again.

Maybe that’s why it has been playing on SciFi and other channels, laying the foundation for a move. We can only hope so.

  40. Joe on March 27th, 2008 5:11 am

Worst decision ever by CBS. The failure of Jericho is an excellent example of the incompetency of CBS’s executives. Had Jericho been promoted as much by CBS as Lost was by ABC, Jericho could have been just as popular, if not moreso. The fact that that stupid show “Big Brother” is still on CBS, and was in the time slot before Jericho, just shows how dumb that networks leadership really is.
SciFi had better pick up Jericho, especially since this is the last season of Battlestar Galactica. Since Stargate SG1 is over, and BSG will be soon, SciFi is about to be out of luck in regards to decent programming. Jericho would be an excellent fix for that problem.

  41. kurt on March 27th, 2008 7:39 am

OK, everybody knows CBS just plays to the 18-34 crowd, what about those of us who ar older, who fought in Vietnam, whyo care about the constitution, ’scuse me is thie the end?

  42. Chris on March 27th, 2008 8:26 am

Is anyone besides me a little bit suspicious of CBS’s decision? The political implications of Jericho’s plot line are incredibly pointed. Cheyenne? Think Cheney. Jennings & Rall? Halliburton. Ravenwood? Blackwater. “Jericho” makes a clear statement about our country today. Is CBS afraid of these obvious connections?

  43. Marty on March 28th, 2008 2:05 pm

I HATE CBS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Jericho was amazing!

  44. JO-ANN on March 31st, 2008 11:25 am

all the good shows which I like and dumb reality shows stay on the boob tube
    INVASION GONE
    WALKER GONE
    SURFACE GONE
THINGS THAT HAD ACTION AND DRAMA ETC ETC ETC

I SAY NUTS TO THE POWERS THAT BE WHO GET RID OF THE SHOWS AND BRING ON REALLY SILLY STUFF

  45. marilyn on April 1st, 2008 7:44 am

I AM WRITING A LETTER FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER TO CBS.FOR WHAT TI IS WORTH!I AGREE WITH EVERYONE HERE WHO HAS WRITTEN ABOUT THIS GREAT SHOW.I CAN LIVE WITH OUT CBS AND INTEND TO DO SO. I WILL NOT EVEN WATCH THE NEWS FROM NOW ON. I HAVE A FEW OTHER PROGRAMS ON CBS I WILL BE GIVING UP BECAUSE OF THIS .I DON’T WANT TO GET TOO INVOLVED WITH ANY OF THEM AS THEY BE NEXT TO GO. IT WILL ALWAYS BE ONE OF MY FAVORITE PROGRAMS. IT WAS THE ONE TIME DURING THE WEEK,WHEN MY ENTIRE FAMILY WOULD WATCH TOGETHER.WE WILL MISS THE GREAT CHARACTERS AND STORYLINE.GOOD-BY CBS.

  46. Vren Lyet on April 3rd, 2008 1:19 am

Well, I loved the first season’s intense mystery - something the final episodes of the first season and most episodes of the short second season lacked, unfortunately.

It’s a shame Jericho got cancelled (again) but what can you do… ;)

  47. Everett Williams on April 5th, 2008 7:03 am

Please sign this petition. They already have almost 20 Thousand.
Lets help them get 100 Thousand. I believe we can do it.
    We need a Leader.

I too think Jericho is a great show.

Pros: Great shows last a long time on the Sci Fi channel and they can show duplicate episodes to get twice the sponsors coverage.

Pros: They can put it up against one of the lame CBS reality show that evidently the almost 20,000 petitioners say they do not care for.

Perhaps we could help convert the site into a more official Jericho petitioning site. I don’t know who started the petition but I am willing to send them a few bucks.

Meanwhile perhaps we as fans can be creative determine the kinds of products that the fan base is interested in. We can do our own marketing and also solicit sponsors who may be interested. Trouble is:

Who is going to be our leader?

We know from watching our favorite show that we have to organize. There are fans from all over the world who watch this show and it would be really cool to have links to each country as well as representing sponsors (assuming that different geographical and cultural areas have different needs) for their viewing area.

For the USA we could break down into the same geographical Jericho districts. Of course the J&R districts would have rebels (U.S.) so lets unite and get started.

  48. cusefan21 on April 6th, 2008 10:10 pm

This was one of the best shows on tv to bad they cancelled it again i think for sure CBS wanted it gone and did what the could to ruin it

I love Jericho, but ppl u need to go to the cbs website and sign a petition to keep the show! It’s the ONLY thing i watch on tv. So, now that season 2 is over, it’s back to the pc.

    I’ll never smile again,
Till they bring back my Jericho,
CBS gained our trust, but they just toyed,
And they wonder why we’re all paranoid.
    I’ll never smile again.

C’mon boys and girls! Let go! CBS gave you an hour a week to escape your mundane lives. They owned our minds for that hour and all they gave us in return was h-e-a-r-t-b-r-a-k-e! Let’s show them! Boycott T.V. Let’s learn to talk to each other without inspiration from a TV show. Let’s invite the neighbors to dinner, let’s feed our pets, clean our homes, talk to our kids, talk to our parents, tell our bosses to go to hell, go to an anti-war demonstration, tell that someone special that’s been on your mind for years that you crave them.
Final thought: Read a good book with a happy ending.
    te

Got something to say?
