Introducing THE TUDORS

The Tudors - Jonathan Rhys Meyers as Henry VIII

This week was an interesting week since I got myself all caught up with the first season of THE TUDORS (just in time for the premiere of the second season) and for a TV show that I didn't think I was going to like that much, I can honestly say that The Tudors has completely changed my mind and I cannot wait to see more.

Thankfully, The Tudors returns this Sunday at 9pm with a whole new season on Showtime.

Here is how I feel about The Tudors: it's like watching a movie/documentary about Henry VIII, except that they go into such details (obviously there is some creative liberties taken about the story) that it lasts for weeks and just keeps getting better.

In addition, the cast is full of so many wonderful actors who contribute in making this TV show one of the best acted on Television.

THE TUDORS - Jonathan Rhys Meyers as Henry VIII

Jonathan Rhys Meyers, whom I have been a fan of since I saw him in The Governess in 1998 (can you believe it's been 10 years already!), is absolutely brilliant as King Henry VIII and brings out the human aspect of the character in such a way that it is hard to totally dislike him.

THE TUDORS - Natalie Dormer as Anne Boleyn

Natalie Dormer brings such class to the character of Anne Boleyn, that it's easy to understand why the King is so infatuated by her.

THE TUDORS - Henry Cavill as Charles Brandon

Henry Cavill is the perfect ladies' man as Charles Brandon and I will go as far as saying that Henry Cavill could be the next up and coming heartthrob.

THE TUDORS - Callum Blue as Knivert

Callum Blue (Anthony Knivert), whom I just want to mention because he was in Dead Like Me and I am just happy to see him in such a great show.

THE TUDORS - James Frain as Thomas Cromwell

James Frain (Thomas Cromwell), who is someone else I have liked since I saw him in Where the Heart Is.

And so many more.

THE TUDORS - Peter O’Toole as Pope Paul III THE TUDORS - Hans Matheson as Thomas Cranmer

And this new season also adds Peter O'Toole as Pope Paul III and Hans Matheson as Thomas Cranmer.

I'm telling you, what is not to like about The Tudors?

So without further ado, it is my pleasure to introduce you to The Tudors...

Stay tuned!

The Tudors is as captivating as The Sopranos; however it takes place during a period in history with which the Showtime audience (I included) is only vaguely familiar. The acting and dialogue are top-notch; it is television at its best. Warning: The Tudors is habit-forming.

Oh man, I can't wait until I get the DVDs for the first season - this show looks so amazing, I don't want to put it off anymore.

Jessica, get it now so you can start watching Season 2. Trust me once you're done with season 1 you won't want to wait for season 2 to come out on DVD, you'll want to watch it right away.

It's the new show I look forward to every week. I think I watched Season 1 in about a week, that's how good it was.

Well, I have it on hold at the library but it isn't here yet - there are a lot of holds. Rawwr. If I bought ever DVD season of shows I like or want to see I'd go so broke. *Flails* LoL. I can wait, but oh man - I'm excited! I've been watching Big Love - season two, and I'm watching is so fast. Of course, it seems to only be a half season.

Yes, I understand. I rarely buy DVDs for TV shows. I rent them all through Netflix. Hopefully you get them soon. I can't wait to hear what you think about it.

As for Big Love, I sort of gave up after the first season. I didn't have time to commit fully anymore. Is it still good?

I would use Netflix for TV dvds but I share my Netflix with someone and I don't think they'd like this show. We have the 2 DVD option. Maybe if I bump it up to 3... hmmm.

I really am enjoying Big Love. It grabs my attention all the time. I think it's really good. At this point I'm just starting to get a little annoyed at how *much* backstabbing i going on. The dynamics between the characters is really interesting. And they're exploring more for Sarah (Amanda Seyfried) whom I love. Lily Kane forever! (Veronica Mars reference.)

You know I share my Netflix too, although we have the 3 DVD options. We do have two separate profiles though so we each have our own queue independent of each other, I would definitely recommend that.

When I stopped watching Big Love, Sarah wasn't a big character yet, interesting that they are focusing more on her. Maybe one day I'll catch up.

Let me know whenever you finally see "The Tudors"! :-)

    Hmmm...I should look into this.

Sarah still isn't getting as much time as I'd like - but they're exploring the character more than they had previously.

I'll try - I just don't know when it will happen! LoL.
