I would have preferred some consequences for Kylie to bed the hot-guy womanizer, i.e. close the door romantically to her boy-next-door mechanic once the relationship crashed and burned, and development of her character, entranced by fame, as copying many of the bad things her father exhibited, i.e. using/abandoning people for fame and fortune. To allow rapprochement with her father, via self-knowledge that she's sort of the same. At the end, when she wins the race, I would have liked the mechanic guy to refuse a kiss with her, give her a hug, then leave.
