Review: SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE "Top 20 Perform"

And so it starts again. SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE is back for its 4th season, with an all new "cast."

Let's find out how they did on their first night:

Rayven Armijo & Jamie Bayard

Rayven Armijo & Jamie Bayard - Hip Hop

Choreography: Tabitha and Napoleon D'Umo
Music: "American Boy" by Estelle feat. Kanye West
Thoughts: First of all Tabitha and Napoleon are great choreographer, that was such a great routine. And these two were great. Loved it! Rating: 4/4
Video:

Susie Garcia & Marquis Cunningham

Susie Garcia & Marquis Cunningham - Smooth Waltz

Choreography: Hunter Johnson
Music: "Dark Waltz" by Hayley Westnera
Thoughts: You know usually I am pretty bored with these types of dance, but I really loved this one. The music was beautiful, the movements were beautiful. I really loved it! Rating: 4/4
Video:

Matt Dorame & Kourtni Lind

Matt Dorame & Kourtni Lind - Jazz

Choreography: Mandy Moore
Music: "Tainted Love" by Soft Cell
Thoughts: I thought the choreography was so cool and I really liked their performance. Rating: 3/4
Video:

Chelsea Traille & Thayne Jasperson

Chelsea Traille & Thayne Jasperson - Cha Cha

Choreography: Tony Meredith and Melanie
Music: "Oye Como Va (Latin/Trance Remix)" by Celia Cruz
Thoughts: I just thought it was ok. Nothing to get excited about. I probably won't remember it tomorrow. Rating: 2/4
Video:

Chelsie Hightower & Mark Kanemura

Chelsie Hightower & Mark Kanemura - Contemporary

Choreography: Mia Michaels
Music: "Beautiful" by Me'Shell Ndegeocello
Thoughts: Well, just the fact that Mia Michaels choreographed this already gives it an advantage. I thought both of them were good other than that. Rating: 3/4
Video:

Kherington Payne & Twitch Boss

Kherington Payne & Twitch Boss - Broadway

Choreography: Tyce Di Orio
Music: "Too Darn Hot" from Kiss Me Kate
Thoughts: I thought it was ok. I wanted them to relate to each other a little more to be honest and I was definitely not as excited as the judges. But I will say that I am a fan of Twitch so I hope that he does well. Rating: 2/4
Video:

Comfort Fedoke & Chris Jarosz

Comfort Fedoke & Chris Jarosz - Jive

Choreography: Tony Meredith and Melanie
Music: "Boom Boom" by Big Head Todd
Thoughts: I really liked it a lot. These two were hot! And it was so fun to watch. One of the best tonight. Rating: 4/4
Video:

Katee Shean & Joshua Allen

Katee Shean & Joshua Allen - Hip Hop

Choreography: Napoleon and Tabitha D'Umo
Music: "No Air" by Jordin Sparks and Chris Brown
Thoughts: This is my absolute favorite so far! WOW! They were amazing. Katee was great and Joshua is amazing! I have no words. Rating: 4/4
Video:

Jessica King & William Wingfield

Jessica King & William Wingfield - Tango

Choreography: Hunter Johnson
Music: "Tango" by Cirque du Soleil
Thoughts: I was pretty bored during the whole thing so I guess I didn't really like it that much. Rating: 2/4
Video:

Courtney Galiano & Gev Manoukian

Courtney Galiano & Gev Manoukian - Disco

Choreography: Doriono Sanchez
Music: "Boogie Wonderland" by Earth, Wind & Fire
Thoughts: I don't know if it's because the choreography didn't work for me, but the performance just wasn't that good. I was quite bored and didn't really care for it. One of the weakest of the night. Rating: 1/4
Video:

Well, I thought tonight was a good start. So far my favorites are Katee Shean, Joshua Allen, Rayven Armijo & Jamie Bayard, and Twitch. But to be honest I have no idea who's going to be eliminated tomorrow.

Special thanks to Vance at Tapeworthy for finding all the videos, and also make sure you read his review of So You Think You Can Dance, turns out we usually have the same taste.

I loved No Air. Ive rewatched it like a thousand times! I think it's amazing that two people can show so much connection when they had only met for like a week! It has really inspired me to put even more feeling into my dancing!
