Early Review: MONK "Mr. Monk Buys a House" (S07E01)

I have just watched the season premiere of MONK's seventh season, "Mr. Monk Buys a House" (can you believe it's already been seven? Although I didn't start watching it from the beginning), and I am happy to say that Monk is back for another season just like we love them.

The new season of Monk premieres tonight, July 18, at 9pm on USA Network.

Well, we already knew that Dr. Charles Kroger would be replaced this season, but it's always a delicate process to replace such a lovable character. Well, I have to say, they did a good job of introducing the new Doctor, Dr. Bell (played wonderfully by Hector Elizondo).

At the start of the episode, Mr. Monk is still affected by Dr. Kroger's sudden death. And so it is in this state of mind that he goes to meet his new therapist, Dr. Bell. But it won't be easy to win Mr. Monk over, even though Dr. Bell offers some great insights into his life. Ok I'll admit, Dr. Bell has won me over.

Apart from the stress of a new therapist, Mr. Monk decides to buy a house, quite impulsively actually. But since this is Monk, you can already imagine that everything doesn't go quite according to plan.

Oh and did I mention that Brad Garrett is a guest star in the episode? I'll let you find out what his character is all about, but I will tell you this, his name is Honest Jake - sounds fishy, doesn't it?

Between new murders to solve and a new therapist, how will Monk cope this season?
