ABC Family's SAMURAI GIRL Review
ABC Family will premiere its special six-hour event, SAMURAI GIRL, starting Friday, September 5, at 8pm and continuing Saturday, September 6, at 8pm and Sunday, September 7, at 8pm.
I was able to take a look at the first two hours and I was pissed...
...that I didn't get to see the rest of it!
Seriously, the first two-hour end just when things were getting excited.
But let me start at the beginning. Samurai Girl is a great film for the whole family, but as far as ass-kicking, I've definitely seen better. You can tell that the movie is geared towards a young audience. Still, I found it enjoyable enough that I will tune in to find out how it ends.
Another cool thing about Samurai Girl is that it stars Brendan Fehr, whom fans of Roswell (like me) will be very happy to see back on TV, as well as Jamie Chung who plays the main character, Heaven.
Overall, I was entertained and that's the most I can ask for. Oh and since part 1 was already good, I think it can only get better with part 2 and 3.
Synopsis: Based on a series of popular young-adult novels, "Samurai Girl" follows the journey of 19 year-old Heaven, the sheltered adopted daughter of one of Japan's wealthiest and most powerful families. Protected and watched over at all times by her loving but enigmatic father, Heaven is raised in opulent but confined surroundings, with every detail of her life tended to and extravagantly provided for in the tradition of Japan's hierarchal society. But when Heaven finds herself in San Francisco for her arranged wedding to the son of one of her father's protected life is about to be shattered and that her past is linked to an ancient secret prophecy which both good and evil forces will fight to the death to control.

This show looks great! I just don't understand the whole concept of why a OC California type guy gets to play the part of the Samurai?
I thought the ending sucked. You left viewers so far up in the air we got nose bleeds. What a disapointment.......
I love the show but you left us want more .I hope make series out of this . we need a change on the tv seen this is a show that would do just that.
Entertaining but predictable and hokey. Should have been called Samurai Valley Girl. I know this is ABC Family, but the story line was extraordinarily off kilter. Amazing how this japanese girl and her family speak perfect English in Japan or how Karen (Kylie) was able to smuggle a hostage all the way to Japan (in a duffle bag, no less - guess the TSA really bungled that one!), or incredibly, the "mirror" was in located in California. Also found the actor who protrayed Heaven's father was completely unbelievable in the role. Anyway, I'm sure the pre-teen set enjoyed it and there will be a series.
I am a huge fan of the books and I've read almost all of them. From what I've seen so far, it is nothing like the books which really disappoints me. If you're going to base something on a book, try to be as close to it as you can! It wasn't as bad as T*Witches though. Please don't let it be a series because then you'll really go away from the books.
LOL what a hoot! I showed this to my Japanese friends , some students and collegues at a bar in Japan and many of them couldn't help but either laugh, get angry or look bewildered! What an ABSOLUTE crock of sh1t! It will NEVER do well in Japan and the above poster who wrote "samurai Valley Girl" had it spot on! The only "Japanese" thing in the whole, sorry tale was the word "samurai" in the title.
I LOVE IT
