TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES: Cancelled…. or is it?

TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES cancelled? There is a rumor in the blogosphere that Fox is thinking of doing just that.
SyFy Portal reports the following:
The network has been disappointed by “Sarah Connor’s” numbers so far this season, and some executives feel that the show is dragging down numbers for “Prison Break,” which airs as a lead-out.
“Audiences just aren’t responding to the show,” a Fox source tells SyFy Portal. “Our biggest surprise are the 18-to-49s [a key advertising demographic], those numbers are in the toilet.”
If this is true, I have to say that FOX has no one to blame but themselves. The fact is that the demo that they are going for is extremely demanding in terms of quality and innovation. This means that they will not stand for average story telling (except in the Season 2 Premiere episode “Samson and Delilah“) or average special effects.
Personally, I feel Terminator needs some more time before it is cancelled. There is a lot that can be explored here, like seeing John fall in love with Cameron (Oh come on,am I the only one who is curious to see that?). I think that it could be interesting to watch. If all else fails, I am sure that FX could be a good home for the show (Not SciFi which has the nasty habit of cancelling great shows like Stargate Atlantis). Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles would do well with an FX makeover that would make as gritty and as raw as The Shield or Sons of Anarchy.
What do you think of the possibility of FOX cancelling Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles?

Stupid show. Always has been. Also, Prison break is bad now, so I’m not surprised about any of this.
It would be a stupid move for FOX to cancel Terminator: The Sarah Conner Chronicles. Why? Because regardless if you are a fan of the show or not, it is obvious that the show is a high quality product. Each episode is actually a “mini movie”. But more than that, if the big 4 networks continue to cancel programs like Terminator, what would be left on network television? Nothing but mindless “reality” shows. So what if the ratings are down this season. Most high quality shows have always had mediocre sophomore seasons. Some examples are : MASH, Cheers, St. Elsewhere, Taxi, and of course, SEINFELD !!!! Even successful actions shows such as The A-Team. Simon and Simon, Magnum PI, and The Fall Guy had experienced growing pains from their respective first seasons. If anything, FOX should move Terminator to Wednesday night at 8 pm CST. Bones would be a good lead-in and Terminator would easily out perform the competition at that time slot.
Unfortunately, history shows us that the decision makers at the networks are more often wrong than right. After all, if they have all the answers and were making sound judgements, then why is cable kicking their butts? Durr.
ok, I am not so smart either, I misspelled “Connor”. My bad. Boy do I feel like an Alaskan governor.
SyFyPortal just interprets the overnight ratings and then claims to have an “insider” tell them things. They’re B.S. But that said, there is a way to show the suits that you are watching.
All it takes is 2 bucks (and a PC).
Buy the latest episode from Amazon. I may not have a Neilsen box but I want them to know I am watching!

Please, fellow science fiction loving fans, please do the same now.
If you’re on a Mac, check to see if iTunes has it. It probably does.
I am a huge Terminator fan so I had mixed feelings when I heard that this show was even being made, but the first season showed real promise. Summer Glau is a big part of that - I loved her in Firefly & Serenity; watching her fight is like watching ballet. But what little I’ve managed to catch of this season (second job is destroying my TV time) is discouraging. I’m a geek; I care deeply about loyalty to the movies. There’s a big difference between taking a great story and expanding on it, a la MASH, or just ripping it to shreds to make money, like T3. So when I watch this, I think, “What’s up with the T1000? Are they now saying that the machines end up creating themselves? WTF??” There’s enough of a paradox here to give a time lord a migraine…
Thanks to stupid crap like this, I have a hard time watching the brilliant acting and mostly-clever writing. It’s similar to the reason I dropped Smallville - the producers, or maybe the network, seems to have no loyalty to the fanbase, as long as they’re making money. I don’t think this deserves to be cancelled yet, but Fox (the idiots who cancelled Firefly, don’t forget) needs to remember the fans if they want their precious ratings.

I hope and pray that they never never never have John And Cameron fall in love. She is a machine… end of story. I love the story-lines just as they are. This show has me glued to the tube each week.

I absolutely couldn’t believe they were even thinking about cancelling this show. The “Terminator” franchise is one of the defining franchises in the history of film and SciFi, and i think it is owed a TV series like this; especially since, firstly, FOX picked up the series in the first place, creating an even larger Terminator fanbase, thus placing an expectation on on themsleves to carry on the show until it at least meets a satisfactory end; not just pulling the plug because a lame reality TV show gets rates above it in the short term. TTSCC is also very true to the fanchise as well, and it is a great piece of television, written well and action packed, with a pinch of salivating drama! (does that expression work? lol)
I don’t live in the United States, so i dont have much experience when it comes to what shows are on when and what shows are most loved by the public (although i can imagine what are), but here down under, i am glued to the computer screen every week, and the following 6 days after each episode are torture just waiting for the next episode to come out with no spoilers on TV or anything! I absolutely love this show and everyone who has been involved in creating it, they have done an amazing job!!!
thanks for letting me speak my mind!!

PS (Skynext Podcast rocks!)
I’ve lost interest in the angst of this show. And I say no to ‘robot sex’.
I doubt any of he FOX suits will read this, but it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out why T:TSCC may not be getting the “numbers” that you would like to keep it going. No it isn’t the content. No it isn’t the quality. The show rocks in my opinion. Sure it took a little bit to get used to at first but now that I’m into it, I’m hooked. I love the show.
You’re biggest problem in my humble opinion, is it’s timeslot. I mean come on, Monday night during primetime. What else is on during the fall season at the exact same time that a lot of males 18 to whatever watch? 3 words. Monday Night Football. T:TSCC has some hefty competition in MNF. So it’s a no brainer. Move the show to a different day, and put something that truely IS sagging in it’s place on Monday nights. Just my two cents. For what it will matter.
Fox, you cancell Terminator, I guaranteed we fans will take this to the press and expose every fan to come out and rally up and tell everyone nobody should watch FOX Channel E-V-E-R. You need to fire someone in your agency for even recomending cancelling, i’m hooked and so as fans around the world.

Please, no love story between John and Cameron. First, John knows that she’s a toaster so why would he do that and second, what’s there to fall in love with? She has no personality. I really liked the episode that dealt more with the “real” Cameron’s history. They did a great job of tying in her past with the present and gave us more to her story. So far, that’s been the best episode of Season 2. But seriously, if they begin developing an inter-robotic relationship between John and Cameron I’m deleting my TIVO season pass.
I LOVE T:SCC with every part of my body, including my pee-pee.
Seriously though, it rocks my socks. Enough that even though I’ve already wasted a lot of bandwidth downloading them all, now that it’s up on Australian iTunes I’m going to show my support by voting with my wallet.
As for John / Cameron romance - I think an actual relationship would never happen, but there will always be tension there. Which is great. Did you see how uncomfortable he got when she lay down next to him? That’s not something you feel if you’re lying next to a Macbook or a Tranformers toy. One argument is that he still fears her flipping out - I’d say it’s more than that.
This is also consistent with the emotional connections between John, Sarah and the Terminators that have been in their lives.
I’m have to admit that I’m curious as to how anatomically correct Skynet made the “Cameron”-model Terminator. Male genetaila are entirely external, so that would have been easy to tack on. But females have far more complicated plumbing and it’s all internal…
*sigh* anyway, I guess what I want to say is that I truly hope this does not get cancelled as it’s currently my favourite TV show.
