SUPERNATURAL Creator Eric Kripke Responds to Fans about "Yellow Fever"

After last night's episode of SUPERNATURAL, "Yellow Fever," it seems that some fans were a little upset about the "dick" comment Sam made about Dean. I personally didn't take it as the writers meant Dean was a dick, I just thought Sam and Bobby were having some fun over Dean.

Just to make things clear, Supernatural's Creator and Executive Producer Eric Kripke decided to respond to the fans, you can read his message below:

"So I've never before responded directly to the fandom's comments about an episode, and I don't plan to make a habit of it, but I couldn't resist dropping in a thought about the episode "Yellow Fever."

Which is this:

Dean is not a dick.

None of the writers, or anyone on the creative team of Supernatural, think Dean's ever been a dick, past, present, or future. He's a hero. Dean did NOT contract the ghost sickness because he's a dick. Victims contract the illness because they use "fear as a weapon." Dean asks Lilith at the episode's end, "why did I get infected?" And she cryptically responds, "you know why. Listen to your heart." We, as the writers, probably should have emphasized this mystery more, I take responsibility for that omission. But the point is: the reason he was infected is because of a SECRET he's keeping. A dark secret that will be revealed in Episode 10. And not at all because of any dickishness, implied or otherwise.

Thanks, gang. "

Stay tuned!

WTH? I would love to know what episode those complainers watched because it obviously was not the same one we all watched and loved. Why do people blow things so out of proportion that the show runner himself has to apologize for jokingly referring to a character he himself created as a dick. Man these people need to lighten up or else quit watching the show. They are giving us fans a bad name. That is why I love the Facebook fans. We all love the show and appreciate it and the writers and the crew and the actors. We do not criticize or belittle them C'mon people on other boards need to wake up and smell the coffee or go pick on a different show. This is beyond ridiculous and if you do not believe me just go and read some of these morons comments.!!!

It just pisses me off that these idiots got to Kripke so much that he felt the need to apologize. I mean the man is the evil genius that created the show. Supernatural is a totally awesome show. The entire crew, and the writers and directors and producers and of course the actors work their butts off week after week to produce this quality piece of work for the fans and then some pea brains who obviously really don't get the show make idiotic comments and make all of us fans look like imbeciles !Kripke and company you rock and we love you!!:)

I have to start off by saying WTF!!!! What true fan of Supernatural would of been upset by Sam calling Dean a "dick"? I know I wasn't, i cracked up laughing, because I know as does any other "true" fan, the relationship between these brothers and also the characteristics of these characters. I feel that Eric Kripke shouldn't of had to apologise to "these upset" fans. Kripke and the writers have done an awesome job with Supernatural and if these "so called fans" want to complain about this one comment, then I think they should stop watching the show and stop giving the "true" fan of the show a bad name. Keep on rocking Kripke, the writers, the crew and especially the boys! We all luv ya heaps! xoxoxo

Of all the thing's folks could complain about and they chose this? I have in the past called my sisters worse. Have these people who moaned any idea how siblings interact with one-another, and did they miss the next part where Sam expained the real reason why Dean was infected? Pay attention folks!

I knew most fans were "fan girls", but COME ON PEOPLE. Dean CAN be a dick sometimes. FYI- he's not a REAL person. And I'm sure if he was that calling him a "dick" wouldn't hurt his feelings... he's Dean Winchester for crying out loud. Honestly, the whole episode had me cracking up, especially the "dick" part & Sammy's satisfaction/ teasing him about it.

    -K

PS. Am I going to get harassed now because only Dean can call Sam, "Sammy"? lmao.
