The Twilight TV Series: THE CULLENS

Twilight - The Cullens Family

A TWILIGHT TV series? When? Who is in it?

Hold your horses, people! Don't get too excited because unfortunately, as far as I know, there are no plans for a Twilight TV series (yet). However, the success of the books and the very likely success of the movie got me thinking about whether a Twilight TV series would be possible.

After reading Eric's article on the possibility of a Twilight TV show, I personally couldn't see a TV series that started off from where Breaking Dawn (the last book of the series) left us, and at the same time I don't think doing a TV series based on the actual Twilight books would work. Since, we already have the Twilight movies for that, it doesn't leave much space to grow.

But then something occurred to me. Why is Twilight such a success? What do people (and by people I mean women) love about it? The answer is of course Edward Cullen and his family. That's it!

What if the TV series was in fact a prequel to the Twilight series recounting the story of the Cullens before they moved to Forks?

The Cullens would start with the story of Carlisle and how he became a vampire. This would be the pilot. Then you fast forward to the point where he finds Edward and that would be episode 2 or 3. And then continue the season by showing us how the family came to be. This could either take a whole TV season or half a TV season. But once you have the family together there is still so many stories to tell. For example, their time with Tanya's family and other places they lived in before coming to Forks. Also I, for one, would love to find out more about the Cullens' first meeting with Alice and Jasper. They could even make episodes focusing on each of them and how they became vampires before meeting each other and joining the Cullens.

There is so much potential for a Twilight TV series if done well, especially with a built-in audience like the fans of Twilight. However, in order for a Twilight TV show to be a success, I think it would work best on a premium cable channel like HBO or Showtime or just regular cable. I do fear that by being on a Network channel, The Cullens might not only get cancelled too soon, but there would be too much focus on pleasing the mainstream audience instead of focusing on the heart of the story.

One last thing that I do need to mention is of course the actors' choice. It is clear to me that the actors for a Twilight series would have to be different than the ones in the movie (unless the actors actually want to be in the show, which I doubt most of them would). That said, casting is very crucial and the choice of actors will make or break the show as will the writing. I personally think that it is crucial to pick an up and comer actor for the role of Edward, who would give the show a fresh look and would prevent associating the actor to previous roles he played.
So that's why I ask you, what actors would you like to see in The Cullens series and for what roles?

So what do you guys say, would you watch The Cullens if it was a TV show?

Stay tuned!

I would love to see a tv series based on the Cullens family -Starting w/Carlisle then show all the character's lives a little before they became vampires -It could all take place before Edward met Bella or the show could have portions of past, present & future

If a series is produced I'd rather it be a long mini-series w/a definite ending so that it doesn't stray too far from it's original appeal - I'd like to see more history of the characters that's not included in the book - How Alice became a vampire, the love stories of Carlisle & Esme, Alice & Jasper & Rosalie & Emmett - Edward could also have some love interests thoughout the century but of course never be 'the one' for him

i was thinking if they had a tv series it would be really cheesy cuz i remeber watching a tv show on stuart litle and i thought man this is nothing about the movie. your idea was real cool thought if they could do a show on that but if they have any idea of somthing else it will be totaly awful. i might not even watch it and im in love with everything twilight!!!

I would love if they left off after breaking dawn then we would all know what happened with Renesmee and Jacob and all the others because it would be fun i asked the actors on Myspace (the real ones) and they all said that they would totally do it if they got the chance jackson said he would love to be an uncle

I would love it if they made a twilight series because then they could stay closer to the book. They could even redo all of the twilight movie if they wanted to just stay to the book. Also with all the post-breaking dawn fanfiction out their I'm sure they could come up with a pretty long series on that. Espessially since a lot of the wolfs haven't imprinted yet and that we don't know how Edward are Bella are going to react to Renesme and Jacob when they come to age.

Twilight is evil, and demonic. No one on this earth should read it, nor should they watch it.

Twilight rules. a tv series would be great, i like the idea of it starting from the beginning. not sure who would be good for the rules. anyone who thinks twilight is evil, is weird and a loser

The books wouldn't be quite as popular if it wasn't for the love story between Edward and Bella. Without it I wouldn't have finished reading four books. However I would like a Tv-series where you have a mixture between the life of The Cullens, of Bella and of Jacob. All mixed into one piece, with both the story wich is described in the book´, more details on everyones past lives and new events not yet written. The series could also be in more detail when it comes to the Cullens supernatural abilities, as they are described in the book. I know that I, who is a huge fan of the series, and many with me would be nailed to the tv with every episode.

the cullens tv show would be awesome and totallly complete twilight. An episode of jaspers life before alice would be great. Few future episodes of jakob and renesmee along with charlie finding more about vampires would be great

Ya, like everything we didnt see or read in the books and movies. I would hate to have difrent Actores though!

A twilight tv series would be absolutely wonderful. I don't know about everyone else, but the movie left out so much. Which I understand they can't put everything in, but still. Another person had a great idea. Touch on each of the characters lives before the books were written, so to speak, and go further beyond where the 4th book stops. Twilight is very well liked and I believe that it would be a hit. But of course, like someone said previously, they would have to be completely thourough and careful who they request for the characters if they can't get the ones from the movie. It would be a hit and I would be a fan, completely!!

I think it would be great to have a Twilight TV series, & have some episodes that go deeper into each of the Cullens' individual experiences before they came to Forks. There are so many possible untold stories that could be brought out in a TV series. However, it would be quite...devastating...to have different actors, & who knows if the actors would be the same as the movies? So definitely there should be a series only if the same actors were in it.

if you ask me i think that would be incredibly stupid. i love twilight and i am a twihard.

WHY WOULD IT RUIN EVERYTHING???? It would make everything better:)

i think that they should actually make a tv series from where the books left off there is so much more to add on to. show what happened after with renesmee and bella and jacob and of course edward. i would love to see that happened. i would watch it religiously!

  17. CATIE Oct 2, 2009 | at 10:14 PM Reply

I think a Twilight tv series would be grat!!!! But i would like to see one after breaking dawn comes out....kinda like it tells wat happpens after breaking dawn is done with.....i would love to see wat happens with jacob and nessie....especially with bella and edward in the pic with them. And how the family deal with their only niece and grandaughter with a wearwolf. But thts my oppinion.....thts wat i would love to see!!!!

    • Kristina Nov 30, 2009 | at 7:31 AM Reply

I totally agree with you!!! I would LOVE to see what happens with Jake and Nessie. Because if Nessie grows up and can have kids it will be a weird mix of werewolf, human, and vampire. TOTALLY AWESOME!!!!

  18. Rawr Oct 7, 2009 | at 7:13 PM Reply

But, The reason why I like twilight ISNT because of the cullens. But, I like it for all the drama it collects, and the fantasy/impoosible romance it has.
And why does the cullenss get all the glory, hello!?! Bella is the one who told it!! Shouldn't bella be a part of the series? Especially a main part!?

Sorry but i dont wanna stare at Robert Pattinson all day

the movie left out a lot of things, such as the note, (thats all i could remember, cuz I was pissed) but. So maybe the series could just pick up those things, and really explain the chapter.

  19. KRISTINA Oct 8, 2009 | at 7:50 AM Reply

HELLLLL YEAH I WOULD WATCH THAT SHOW LIKE IT WAS A RELIGION....

    • Kristina Nov 30, 2009 | at 7:27 AM Reply

I don't think you should put I WOULD WATCH IT LIKE A RELIGION because thats a little stupid...no offense at all....But if you like it alot (like me:)) then you should just keep putting something like I WANT TO SEE THIS SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO BAD!!!! Please don't take this offensive its just my opinion:)

  20. Jenny Oct 26, 2009 | at 10:00 AM Reply

I would definately watch the show! Even if it were a follow up of the movies, Like what happens next with Renesme? And so on and so forth.....I just don't want it to end!!

  21. christa Nov 22, 2009 | at 12:13 AM Reply

A show would honestly kill the books for me. Even though it would be interesting to see everybodys lives before the twilight book started and where breaking dawn ended but there's a reson why it says THE END...I think a show would be a bad idea, because if its not properly made they will be losing A LOT of fans...

  22. Kristina Nov 30, 2009 | at 7:24 AM Reply

If you are considering to make a tv series I think it should be on a channel where everyone can access it. These are hard economic times and we don't have cable, we have basic. You should try putting the tv series(if you do it) on a channel that already has a HUGE franchise worked up....For example I love the Vampire Diaries that airs on the CW or channel 15 at my house. That would be a great channel to put this series on.....PLEASE CONSIDER MY IDEA BECAUSE I WOULD REALLY LIKE TO SEE THE CULLENS' STORIES COME TO LIFE!!!!

  23. Kristina Nov 30, 2009 | at 7:34 AM Reply

Let me be completely honest to everyone.....IF you DON'T want this series to come out and you don't want to watch it then here's a hint DON'T WATCH IT and it will be like everything never happened:)

  24. Linda Nov 30, 2009 | at 11:02 AM Reply

I would like to see a TV series made to go with the Twilight saga. However it is not just the Cullens that people like. There is the triangle between Edward, Bella and Jacob and then there is the whole Quileute connection. Tricky yes, impossible no. There series could fall between movies and you could go on with the Breking Dawn Book. I know I for one wanted more. If done right this could be extremely big.

i would love it if they made a twilight tv-show!
(spoilers) i think they should focus on renesemee and jacobs relationship and bella as a vampire! And i would just love it if the originals actors was in it!

I think a twilight tv show would be a good idea, but I would rather see what happens after breaking dawn, but ur ideas are good

I have many mixed feelings on this subject. I'm a Twilight fan, but I think a tv series would just be too much, it's already too crazy, however if it were to happen, I WOULD want it to be about the Cullen family. I'm a way bigger fan of them than Bella. I actually don't really like her at all. I would love to hear more about Jasper and Alice!

Wow sexist much? that is so not true that the only people who love twilight are women. many guys love it and there's nothing wrong with that. you see evidence of it everywhere. do your research.

Being a new fan of Twilight (just saw the first movie on the 13th of December 2009, 4 days ago) I would love to see the series. I saw New Moon 2 days after seeing the first movie showing how powerful a grip Twilight has on me. The Cullens (Edward, especially) make it humorous, give us the "he's gonna kick his ass" and "holy crap, he can run that fast?" moments which entertain us.

I really would look forward to this.

Ok ppl....now i dont agree with the part where ppl want the show tht tells about the whole series....thts completly stupid...thts why there are movies!!!! if there was a show it should be after the movies are over and have what happens whith the cullens and bellas family...like charlie too and Jacob. it should have whether or not Nessie and jacob marry and have kids and what happens with the couples in the cullen family.....does tht make since??? and what happens with bellas mom and dad knowing tht bella is a vamp and so is her new fam....does tht make since too?

  35. Grace Jan 20, 2010 | at 1:34 PM Reply

Okay- I'm kind of scared now. This is totally going over the top. Twilight is just honestly a bunch of sparkly, personality-less vampires who are all Sues. And Bella is just kind of Meyer's self-insert. No offense meant at all to Twilight fans, this is just what I think.
