DEXTER "The Damage a Man Can Do" (Season 3 Episode 8) Discussion

Wow, I just finished Dexter's "The Damage a Man Can Do" episode and I have to say that I am impressed. This season, the writers are on fire because they are putting together some of the best plots and storylines ever (Except for the Debra storyline which is still ridiculous).

First, I am sad to say that Debra is officially the winner of "The Worst Cop In Miami" contest. Sleeping with her CI and NOT putting a protective detail on him were two monumentally stupid moves.

Then, our boy Dexter was again caught between a rock and hard place with Rita pressuring him about the wedding stuff and Miguel pressuring him about killing stuff. However, as usual, Dexter handled it all very well.

The low down of the episode is that Miguel popped his cherry and did the deed. I thought that he really was going to wuss out in the end. But not only did he do it but he liked it a little too much.

Next week's episode promises some interesting drama with Miguel apparently power tripping on his kill.

What do you think of Miguel becoming a killer? Good idea or is it going to go downhill?

Miguel becoming a killer will lead to his demise. Still I believe he will make it to season 4. Something dramatic will happen in the final episode like Miguel being arrested at Dexter's wedding.

From the direction the writers are going I would have to say that Dexter and Miguel working together as a killing team will not last forever. Miguel's appetite for killing is way too strong. What I really want to see is Miguel becoming so obsessed with his dark needs that he turns on Dexter and threatens his loved ones. Like Deb for an example and a piece of Dexter's true self is revealed to her.

I have to partially agree with Ryan; mostly because his idea is pretty intriguing. Prado getting arrested at the wedding would most definitely be entertaining and shocking. However, I can't help but see a pattern developing now that we are in the third season. It seems like we are introduced to a bad guy early on in a season, they become increasingly seductive in one way or another to Dexter, and then it ultimately ends with Dex killing them. I have to say, whether or not Miguel dies this season or next it appears a pattern is most definitely developing and though I've enjoyed this season a bit more than the last, I must say I hope the writers don't get 'stuck' if you will on this formula.

I can agree with that. Seeing the writers take the show outside of the formula nd doing something new would be much better than seeing a predictable outcome.
