THE LAST TRUCK: CLOSING OF A GM PLANT Documentary on HBO Preview

THE LAST TRUCK: THE CLOSING OF A GM PLANT

Check out a preview of the upcoming HBO documentary THE LAST TRUCK: CLOSING OF A GM PLANT airing Monday September 7 at 9 pm. This documentary follows the workers of the General Motors Assembly Plant in Moraine, Ohio from the 2008 announcement that the plant will be closing, to its last day in operation.

I urge everyone to watch this documentary as it is a testament to the economic impact of mega-corporations making decisions that impact the lives of hard working americans. This can happen to any of us.

Summary: To the residents of Moraine, Ohio, General Motors was more than just a car company, it was the lifeblood of a community. In the wake of GM's 2008 announcement that it was closing the plant, stunned workers looked back at their careers at GM, reminiscing about the opportunities, friendships and pride that the factory line had given them. Through their words, this documentary stands as an elegy to a dying American manufacturing system--and a timely look at the U.S. auto industry in crisis.

This was a very good show, well done HBO. This show brought tears to my eyes to see such dedication, pride, and workmanship from those workers and how attached they were to the trucks they built only to be told to hit the road. Its a sad commentary on the North American auto industry. The workers arent rich by any means, almost all of them just want a decent paying job so they can support a family, raise their kids, and live a comfortable life. When GM closed that plant they terminated those peoples lives not just their employment. I drive a GMC truck, thanks guys.

Whats different about this company? look at the other companies that have closed or moved overseas and left there employees having to look for a new career, and were American companies with there start in America, but over paid management and CEO's wanting more money paying 3rd world counties a dollar an hour to make the same thing, unions don't make your job secure in America any more.

I have always been a car person. I have owned many different cars from different countries. I have come to embrace German cars! We have come to the point where German and Japanese auto manufacturers have successfully began and continued production of their vehicles here in the United States of America! GM "was" number one!?!? What happened???? I watched this documentary with a long sense of anger towards Big Corporate America and by the time it was finished I was fuming with tears rolling down my face. I feel lost almost everyday! Mismanagement and greed leaves our hard working citizens lost and hopeless. Our manufacturing base is faltering simply because the people with control of all the money know how to keep their power and squash those who oppose them. It is all falling in line. If America only consumes, the masses will never gain enough clout to rise against the corporate giants and their well oiled machine. Separate the classes and keep the opposition at bay. I have the right to choose the type of vehicle I drive. That is one of the perks of being an American citizen. Our country supports business all over the world because of these facts. Why is it that we continue to allow the these companies and privileged "AMERICANS" who run them to deconstruct our country and run our jobs to other countries? Because everyone has a TV in their home that is why! A country of people held at gun point. Its not the government who is doing this, it is the corporations who supply the money and stay in the shadows with governmental agenda's! Get angry America! Save the hard working people like those in this documentary. Let us WORK!
