I love this show! Dean fan.
So why is it when we have an episode that even has an inkling of a Sam story in it, the only promo shots and videos we get are of Dean and Cas? Has Kripke and grew completely forgotten that there is a group of fans out there that are fans of Sam/Jared? This show isn't about 2 brothers anymore, its now the Dean Hour.
Lets put this into perspective: The first three seasons were dedicated to Sam, his connection to Azazel, his fated destiny to become some hell king and how special he was (i.e. the demon powers due to Azazel's blood). Even though the show stated it was a show about two brothers trying to find their missing father - the whole crux of the show has been centered around Sam and his destiny as a sort of anti-christ.
I am not in any means bashing Sam - I actually like his character but I felt relieved during Season Four when Dean finally got his Character Arc: Ressurected from Hell by an Angel, Castiel to prevent the 66 possible seals from opening and dealing with the head trip of spending forty years in hell being tortured and becoming a torturer. Yes, the show shifted off of Sam (for the first time in 3 years) but Dean is now on the same level as his brother regarding character development. Now, Dean is revealed to be Michael's vessel and Sam (well y'know if you saw last night's episode). The show can't always be about Sam - it should be about BOTH of them in equal spurts. It is unfair to call the show the Dean Hour, when Dean has waited 3 years prior to Season Four to garner his own arc.
I agree with Sidney. The first 3 years has been about primarily about Sam. Love both boys but it's refreshing that Dean is getting his story now. I believe it is about the two brothers and their developing of becoming possibly vessels. It's also nice that there is more to Cas now as well. I love his character and watch his story develop as well (plus I love the working chemistry between Dean and Cas). They have a lot in common that they know (plus they are funny together, too!). I trust the writer will integrate all of their characters and they will become intertwined. Love this show!
