COMMUNITY "Home Economics" Review Episode 8

What did you think of tonight’s episode of Community 'Home Economics'? I knew before the show even started that it was going to be hard for Community to surpass last week’s brilliant Halloween episode. I mean, I am still recovering from Abed’s amazing Batman impression.
Even though I was right, it was still a pretty decent episode. Here’s a question though: what community college has dorms? It seems like they are trying to incorporate too many features of a university into this Community college. Ice cream bars, concerts in the quad, dorm rooms - these things don’t normally exist in Community college.
I also didn’t like seeing Jeff down and out in 'Home Economics'. I like how his character normally seems to be the one that has it together. Seeing him vulnerable and the one that needed to ask help from Abed made me feel kind of uncomfortable. I loved the part where Abed compared him to Goldie Hawn in Overboard. I think we can all agree that Abed is probably the best character on the show.
Annie provided some nice cringy moments with Troy. At the beginning of the show I was feeling bad for Annie but by the end she making me angry. Surely telling someone you like them is easier than pretending to have appendicitis or crashing a date in a hospital gown?
I enjoyed the part with Pierce and the band. Vaughn plays the role of d-bag very well. It also provided my favorite quotes of the night:
'Pierce you’re a B'
'Are you trying to Garfunkel me'?
Lastly, there is Britta. I still can’t figure this character out. I can understand why she doesn’t want to date Jeff, but if she’s so smart, why can’t she get over a jerk like Vaughn? I wonder if she’ll ever end up with Jeff? Personally, I’d rather see Annie and Troy get together over Jeff and Britta. What do you think?

Totally agree. It was a good episode with regards to laugh factor. I really didn't think a dorm made sense. The fact that it made up a big chunk of the story line brought down the episode a bit.
Yeah I dont get the idea of a dorm room on a community college campus, though the in past episodes the Dean and others make it seem they are truing to be a community college with everything a regular university has. Abed's dorm room was hilarious, especially the 80's movie posters.
I think I'm going to work in both Garfunkled and Garfielded in a conversation in the future
One thing I didnt like was that the last little scene was between Pierce and the rap guy and not the usual Troy and Abed. The little Tory/Abed scenes are the ones that lead me to laugh out loud suddenly a couple of days after the episode airs.

Did you all go to community college or something, and not learn how to do a google search?
I think the dorms were a great idea. Community colleges these days offer all sorts of amenities (maybe not as much as portrayed on the show), and host plenty of programs in order to keep a high profile in the area.
The ending scene with Pierce was excellent, and opens up the possibility for future stories of his feud with Vaughn. Hopefully we will get to see a battle of the bands soon.
I liked the dorm scenes...I agree that it was weird to see Jeff in such a state, but it was only one epi, and given the fact that he lost his job and hasn't been working, as far as we know, he was bound to fall on hard times eventually. Anyways, I thought this epi was funny from beginning to end and Vaughn was hilarious. I also look forward to Troy & Abed's segment at the end of every epi, and missed seeing it this week...it should be a fixture in the show. I agree that I'm more interested in Annie & Troy's relationship development than Jeff & Britta's b/c Annie & Troy are two of my faves on the show, and although Jeff is awesome, I don't like Britta and wish she'd transfer to another school far away from Greendale (hence, off the show). In terms of faves, I would have to say that Jeff, Abed, Troy & Annie are my top 4 out of the Comm Crew and after this week's epi, Vaughn is next on my list of show faves...wait a minute: Patton Oswald's character first (he's so funny), then Vaughn.
