On Tonight, Tuesday 9/25: REAPER, HOUSE, and more…

Daemon's Choice

Reaper

REAPER “Pilot” - 9pm CW
Let me give you one reason to watch the pilot of Reaper: Kevin Smith, who directed the episode. Furthermore, Reaper is really funny, and I am not an easy person to please. Bret Harrison is hilarious as the guy whose soul has been sold to the devil by his parents. Ray Wise plays the devil, pretty cool, huh? Reaper is a must watch. And yes, it already has a season pass with me. Read my preview of Reaper here and look at some Gallery photos here.
Story: For the first 20 years of his life, Sam wondered why his parents went so easy on him. Whether it was school, sports or career choices, Sam’s mom and dad always let him get by with the least possible effort. As a result, Sam skipped college, took a dead-end job at the local Work Bench home improvement store and now wastes endless hours playing video games. Everything in his slacker world changed the day Sam turned 21 and discovered the ungodly reason his parents let him slide: they sold his soul to the devil before he was even born.

House

HOUSE “Alone” - 9pm FOX
Dr. House is back and apparently “Alone” (bad joke I know, I just can’t help it), but not for long. In the season premiere, we will meet the new candidates. I cannot even begin to imagine how horrible House is going to be with them… Yes!!!! I am so glad House is back tonight with whole new storylines this season.

Eureka

EUREKA “All That Glitters” - 9pm Sci-Fi
My feel-good show, still puts a smile on my face when I watch it. Sheriff Carter is just cool and you can’t help but love him. Did I mention I wish I lived in Eureka? I am so glad this show is not over yet, I still need a few weeks to prepare myself for it ending.

Damages

DAMAGES “Do You Regret What We Did?” - 10pm FX
I haven’t watched last week’s episode yet, but the more I watch Damages, the more I love it. Glenn Close is so good, I love to hate her.

LA Ink

LA INK “Kat’s Gnarly Day “ - 10pm TLC
Kat is back tonight. You never know what to expect when you watch LA Ink. I find them so entertaining and I love the work they do. I wish I could do what they do. Also, I always want to get a tattoo when I watch the show. But then it’s over and I think, needle, so that’s not happening anytime soon. Still, it’s fun to see other people get tattoos.

THE REST

NCIS “Bury Your Dead” - 8pm CBS
A new season of NCIS starts tonight. I used to watch the show, but it’s one of those that I can only take in small doses. It’s a good show though.

BONES “The Window’s Son In The Windshield” - 8pm FOX
Bones is back with a new season tonight. I never really got into Bones. I think that when it started I was already going through overdose of that type of show, so I didn’t even give it a chance. I have a friend who really likes it though.

THE UNIT “Pandemonium” - 9pm CBS
The Unit is back tonight. I watched one or two episodes, but see above if you want to know why I don’t watch it. I do like the actors in it though.

BOSTON LEGAL “Beauty and the Beast” - 9:30pm ABC
Boston Legal starts a new season tonight. The few times that I watched part of an episode, I liked it and thought it was pretty funny, but since I didn’t watch it from the beginning I find it very confusing, hence me not actually following Boston Legal.

CANE “Pilot” - 10pm CBS
One of CBS’s new drama, Cane premieres tonight. To be honest, the subject matter just doesn’t appeal to me at all. The actors are all very good, but it’s just not making it into my weekly schedule. Who knows though, one day I might rent it on DVD. Read my preview for Cane here.
Story: An epic drama about the external rivalries and internal power struggles of a large Cuban-American family running an immensely successful rum and sugar business in South Florida. When the family patriarch, Pancho, is offered a lucrative but questionable deal by his bitter adversaries, the Samuels, to purchase thousands of acres of sugar fields, he’s faced with a tough choice: Should he cash out of the sugar business and focus solely on rum, which would please his impulsive natural son, Frank, or protect the family legacy that he built from the ground up by not selling, and side with his adopted son, Alex, who mistrusts the Samuels and still sees value in sugar? Alex and Frank’s approach to business is as different as their approach to life.

LAW & ORDER: SVU “Alternate” - 10pm NBC
Law & Order:SVU starts a new season tonight. For a while, I used to confuse all the Law & Orders, now I can distinguish them. Still, the thing with Law & Order for me, is that I think they are good shows, but I like to watch one episode here and there maybe on the week-end but I don’t like them to the point of making them a weekly thing for me.

Casting Shook Up

July 2, 2007

More casting news for this fall’s shows:

ALIENS IN AMERICA - Patrick Breen, who was playing the father in the pilot, has been replaced by none other than Scott Patterson (Luke from Gilmore Girls). Even though I am happy we will be reunited with Scott Patterson, it seemed to me like Patrick Breen was a good match for the show.

BOSTON LEGAL - Taraji P. Henson (“Hustle & Flow”) has been added to the cast of Boston Legal as a regular. In addition, Saffron Burrows and Gail O’Grady (Hidden Palms) will appear in a few episodes.
Saffron Burrows will play a commercial litigator who had an affair with Alan Shore (James Spader).
Gail O’Grady will be reprising her role as Judge Gloria Weldon.

MOONLIGHT - Apparently, CBS has found its replacement to Amber Valetta and it is: Shannyn Sossamon. You might remember her from Dirt as Kira Klay (the girl who overdosed). I like Shannyn Sossamon and am curious to see what she brings to the part.

Update:

More news:

LIFE IS WILD - Brett Cullen has been replaced by D.W. Moffett (Hidden Palms) to play the veterinarian who takes his family to live in a South African game preserve. I have to say, not sure this is a good idea. I really like Brett Cullen and think he would have brought a sweeter side to the show. From what I have seen of D.W. Moffett (mostly on Hidden Palms), I am not sure he was the best choice for the part, but maybe I will be proven wrong.

BOSTON LEGAL - Old actors out, new actors in…

June 19, 2007

Big changes are coming on BOSTON LEGAL. Michael Ausiello reports that Julie Bowen, Mark Valley, Rene Auberjonois and Constance Zimmer have all been let go from the show.

To replace them, Boston Legal will add John Larroquette to its cast. He will be playing an attorney from the New York offices of Crane Poole & Schmidt. In addition, Tara Summers will also join the cast as a young associate. Finally, Christian Clemenson (Jerry) is now a series regular.

I have watched the show occasionally and it has its moments. Not a big fan though. I am not sure if those changes will be for the better or the worse. All I can say is, the addition of James Spader to the cast was a great success, let’s hope the same thing happens this time.
