Lisa’s Top 10 All Time TV Shows: #6 - BROTHERS & SISTERS
November 16, 2007

Lisa - #6 BROTHERS & SISTERS

A large family where everything seems perfect! Successful children, loving parents, no financial problem. A perfect world, before everything seems to collapse when the father suddenly dies. Very interesting to see how everyone is trying to cope and overcome all the problems they have to face. This makes my number 6 out of the top 10 TV show.
Cast: Dave Annable, Calista Flockhart, Balthazar Getty, Rachel Griffiths, Sarah Jane Morris, Ron Rifkin, Patricia Wettig, Sally Field, and Matthew Rhys.
Plot: Five enmeshed and somewhat damaged adult siblings and their strong but passionately devoted mother, Nora. The Walkers’ lives have not been without challenge; romance, parenting, divorce, infidelity, addiction, war and even death have pushed each of them to the limit, but they continue to work toward living their lives as individuals, while loving each other unconditionally and trying to maintain some semblance of normalcy after the loss of their larger-than-life family patriarch, William Walker.

Sunday Night: BROTHERS & SISTERS and DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES
November 12, 2007
Sunday Nights never fail to impress me. ABC is really King (or Queen) of the night. This post will contain spoilers so read accordingly.

BROTHERS & SISTERS - I want to start talking about ABC’s Brothers & Sisters “36 Hours” just because it was the best episode this season that I have seen so far. Apart from the amazing acting from the whole cast, the stories just feel so true, the care the family has for each other is heartbreaking.
Before I go on to praise the episode, I would like to say that I still think it was very convenient to get Justin back into drugs but it makes for such a great episode that I’ll let it go, but they better not do another drug storyline in season 3, because that’s not gonna fly then.
Moving on to Justin’s intervention. I’ll admit that I shed a few tears during the episode (but if you ever mention this, I’ll deny it to the grave!) and it shouldn’t surprise anyone given the subject matter. The episode was well executed overall, but I would like to mention a few scenes that stayed with me even after the episode was over:
#1 - Kitty standing up to Justin: Kitty has never been my favorite character, but man she is a powerful character. Her whole speech to Justin “I’m bleeding and I’m aching but I’m here” is some of the most brilliant writing I have heard and delivered with such conviction I could really feel it… first tears shed… [Read more]

THE AMAZING RACE 12 “I’ve Become The Archie Bunker Of The Home” - 8pm CBS
After some convincing from my friend, I gave The Amazing Race a chance. The verdict: It was not as fun as I thought it would be. The contestants were very boring and turns out my friend even told me that they were not as entertaining as previous years. Still, I’ll give it another shot to convince me. If not…delete from my DVR…forever!

DEXTER “That Night, A Forest Grew” - 9pm Showtime
I am so proud of myself because I watched three episodes this week and even though I am not up to date, I am only one episode behind and will be caught up by tonight. This season is really good so far, but I have to admit that Lila bugs the heck out of me. I like Dexter so much better with Rita. Only time will tell how all of this is going to turn out.

DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES “You Can’t Judge A Book By Its Cover” - 9pm ABC
Last episode had such a sweet moment when Danielle gave birth to her baby, you could see that she did care in the end, no matter what she said. I wonder how the whole birth is going to be explained to Wisteria Lane, are they going to say Bree finally had the baby? But since we know secrets never get buried for long, it’s only a matter of time for people to find out whose baby it really is.

FAMILY GUY “Lois Kills Stewie” - 9pm FOX
After last week’s pretty crazy episode “Stewie Kills Lois” it’s time to turn the tables around and for Lois to go after Stewie. Come on Stewie, you knew the showdown would happen one day. Make sure you check out some clips from “Lois Kills Stewie” here (they are after the clips from “Stewie Kills Lois”), as well as some pictures here.

AMERICAN DAD “Haylias” - 9:30pm FOX
Sometimes I can’t decide if American Dad is more outrageous than Family Guy. Each show has their own “interesting” characters. And I cannot profess my love for Klaus enough. I wish they would give him more to do than just swim around.

BROTHERS & SISTERS “36 Hours” - 10pm ABC
Ever since I saw the previews for this week’s episode, I have been looking forward to it. Why? Because tonight is the night when Justin gets confronted to his addiction by his family. We all knew that was coming and those episodes are always so emotional, I love them. And with a family like the Walkers, they never fail to deliver.

DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES and BROTHERS & SISTERS on Sunday Nights
November 5, 2007
Wow, Sunday nights is starting to be one of my favorite nights of TV with the great seasons of Desperate Housewives and Brothers & Sisters. I had to mention some of my thoughts from last night’s episodes.

DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES - Last night’s episode of Desperate Housewives “Now I Know, Don’t Be Scared” was not only another great episode in this so far great new season of Desperate Housewives, but it had one of the most powerful scenes we have seen in the show so far:
Lynette finding out her cancer is gone. Felicity Huffman was absolutely amazing, her reaction when they tell her was breathtaking. I really hope she gets nominated next year for her performance, because wow!

DEXTER “The Dark Defender” - 9pm Showtime
Oh man, I am still behind on Dexter. For someone who loved the first season so much, I should be ashamed but I keep forgetting to watch it to be honest. I still love it and now that I’m writing about it, I wish I had seen it.

DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES “Art Isn’t Easy” - 9pm ABC
With the disaster of last week’s dog kidnapping, I wonder how Susan and her new neighbors are getting along? Let’s face it, Desperate Housewives is getting better by the minute. And I am enjoying it to the fullest.

BROTHERS & SISTERS “Domestic Issues” - 10pm ABC
Besides my complaint from last week’s episode of Brothers & Sisters about Justin taking the extra pills, I am ready for more of Brothers & Sisters tonight.

Sunday Night: DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES and BROTHERS & SISTERS afterthoughts
October 22, 2007
Sunday night was a good night for television. Here are some quick reviews.
Is it me or does this season of Desperate Housewives keep getting better?
Last night’s episode “If There’s Anything I Can’t Stand” was pretty classic with the new Gay neighbors moving in. How awkward was the whole introduction with Susan? I love it when Lee (Kevin Rahm) says “I hope we can live up to your stereotype.”
And the whole moment when Susan thinks there are three of them, but really it’s the dog… Awkward!
By the way, I love the actors portraying the new couple, they fit right in with the cast.
I cannot believe Susan kidnapped the dog so that the neighbors would like her. You know this was gonna end up badly.
The rest of the episode was fun too, but I wanted to especially mention the Susan story, that’s the one that stood out the most for me.

Here is my whole issue about last night’s episode of BROTHERS & SISTERS, “States Of The Union.” I really liked the episode but I just cannot get over the fact that Justin (Dave Annable) is going back to his addict behavior and taking extra pills. Not that I didn’t think this would eventually happen, but I didn’t think it would be that easy. I understand that the writers are trying to create more future drama, that’s not my the problem I have, my problem is that we’re talking about Justin who would have rather suffered the pain in his leg rather than take some painkillers, and I find it really hard to believe that he would just fall back into his old habits without fighting it off a bit. At least make it look like he’s hesitating and is torn when we see him take the pill towards the end of the episode. It seemed like it didn’t affect him that much, and I just didn’t find this very credible compared to everything he went through because of his addiction. I do think however that having Justin get into “drugs” again is a smart move. I can only imagine some of the scenes that will come out of it in the future.
