CASHMERE MAFIA and DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES Afterthoughts
January 9, 2008

I wanted to share some of my thoughts and do a quick review of CASHMERE MAFIA’s premiere and DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES return and “finale.”
Cashmere Mafia “Pilot” - So I wasn’t that excited about Cashmere Mafia to begin with, but I decided to give it a shot. Sometimes you can be surprised (i.e. Aliens in America that I now love), so it’s with an open mind that I watched the pilot for Cashmere Mafia. I have to say, I actually liked it, it was quite enjoyable. It’s not the best TV show that was ever created, but it’s definitely good enough to stay on my schedule for now, especially now that there won’t be much on TV.
Another strong point of the show is that is has some wonderful actors, although it’s too bad Tom Everett Scott only starred in the first episode (even if he was an unlikeable character). The scene where Juliet tells her cheating husband that she will take a lover while keeping a smile on her face, was just brilliant, I still have chills.
So that’s Cashmere Mafia and so far it’s staying on my schedule. I do worry about how it’s going to do in the ratings. [Read more]

CASHMERE MAFIA premieres tonight on ABC
January 6, 2008
The midseason is officially starting tonight with the premiere of CASHMERE MAFIA at 10 pm on ABC. I have to admit that I hadn’t been excited about this TV show when I first heard about it, mostly because there were so many other new shows that I was looking forward to and it sounded a lot like NBC’s Lipstick Jungle (which premieres February 7th), so I wasn’t sure I would even watch it. But now, with the writers strike, I have revised my options and will be tuning in tonight and watch Cashmere Mafia’s pilot.
I am really hoping it exceeds my expectations because it would give me a new show to be excited about. Plus I really like Tom Everett Scott, who guest stars in the pilot.
Plot: Four ambitious, sexy women who have been best friends since business school — Mia, Zoe, Juliet and Caitlin — try to have it all. They aren’t just powerful and intelligent as singular executive sensations in today’s corporate battlezones; they’ve bonded into a formidable unit - a “Cashmere Mafia” — to support and counsel each other through good times and bad. How better to climb up the corporate ladder than with your buddies at your side? Whether it’s coping with rocky marriages, fending off scheming colleagues or just trying to find themselves in the midst of their chaotic lives, these compelling women use their valuable friendship to keep centered.

Fall 2007 TV Preview: CASHMERE MAFIA on ABC
August 28, 2007

Cashmere Mafia - Starts November 27th on ABC at 10pm
Plot: Four ambitious, sexy women who have been best friends since business school, Mia, Zoe, Juliet and Caitlin, try to have it all. They aren’t just powerful and intelligent as singular executive sensations in a man’s world; they’ve bonded into a formidable unit - a female “boys’ club” — to support and counsel each other through good times and bad. How better to climb up the corporate ladder than with your buddies at your side?
Daemon’s TV Review: This doesn’t look interesting at all. I am not even going to watch the pilot. As I mentioned previously, there are so many shows to watch this Fall that if something just doesn’t look good, I won’t even bother to watch the pilot. So no Cashmere Mafia for me.

ABC’s CASHMERE MAFIA - Clip preview
June 5, 2007
- CASHMERE MAFIA is about four ambitious women, who’ve been best friends since business school, trying to balance their careers and personal lives.
Doesn’t this look oddly familiar? Like NBC’s new show LIPSTICK JUNGLE (see previous post)? We have the powerful women all over again, and even the tone looks the same. Not sure if I will like Cashmere Mafia either. This all looks very unoriginal to me. Will have to wait until this fall to decide. What do you guys think?
