It's official, we have a premiere date for DOCTOR WHO's final two specials, Doctor Who: The End of Time.

Part One will premiere on Saturday, December 26, 2009 on BBC America, and the premiere date for Part Two should be announced very soon as well.

This will be the last Doctor Who episodes starring David Tennant as the Tenth Doctor. He will then be replaced by Matt Smith who will become the Eleventh Doctor in the new season slated to premiere in 2010.

Doctor Who: The End of Time will also bring back a favorite of mine: The Master. I personally can't wait to see John Simm back as The Master. And if the last episode featuring The Master is anything to go by, we should expect this one is going to be epic!

SYFY GIVES GREENLIGHT TO "BEING HUMAN"

New drama based on UK series to premiere in 2010

NEW YORK - October 29, 2009 - Syfy has ordered 13 episodes of Being Human from RDF Media USA, it was announced today by Dave Howe, President, Syfy, and Chris Coelen, CEO of RDF Media USA. Being Human will premiere on Syfy in Summer 2010.

Being Human is a re-imagining of the acclaimed BBC original. Three 20-something roommates, a ghost, a vampire, and a werewolf, struggle to keep their dark secrets from the world, while helping each other navigate the complexities of living double lives. The original UK series is produced by RDF subsidiary Touchpaper Television and executive produced by Rob Pursey.

Syfy Gives Greenlight to BEING HUMAN

Don't miss the Season 3 finale of SKINS "Everyone" this Thursday at 9pm on BBC America.

While I started out not too sure about the new cast of Skins, throughout this season I have fallen in love with these new characters and love them almost as much as the first group. And by the look of this clip we're going to see more of the Effy, Cook, Freddie love triangle. Can't wait!

Synopsis: SKINS "Everyone" Season 3 Finale - Cook and Effy are in self-imposed exile from the gang, having gone to stay with Cook's father. Effy is running away from everything she's ever known and Cook enables her escape. Problem is, Cook is slowly falling out of lust, and in love with her. Back in Bristol, JJ tries to snap Freddie out of his depressed stupor, down about the loss of both his best friend, and the girl he loves.
Freddie and JJ force Effy to confront who she is and what she really wants. She has to make amends for the damage she's caused. She also has to decide whether to follow her heart. Can the four friends find a way forward together?

BBC UNVEILS NEW LOGO FOR NEW DOCTOR

A first look at the new Doctor Who logo, which will accompany Matt Smith's on-screen debut as The Doctor in spring 2010, has been unveiled and can be seen at www.bbcamerica.com/doctorwho. The logo is the eleventh to have been used on screen in the show's history.

Accompanying the logo at BBCAmerica.com is an animated insignia of the show's initials, which will be used as branding for the new series in conjunction with the logo.

About the new logo Steven Moffat, the new Lead Writer and Executive Producer said:
"A new logo. The eleventh logo for the eleventh Doctor - those grand old words, Doctor Who, suddenly looking newer than ever. And look at that, something really new - an insignia! DW in TARDIS form! Simple and beautiful, and most important of all, a completely irresistible doodle. I apologise to school notebooks everywhere, because in 2010 that's what they're going to be wearing."

BBC Unveils New Logo For New DOCTOR WHO

I got a chance to take a look at the PRIMEVAL Volume Two DVD, which is now available to own (you can buy it on Amazon).

The DVD contains all 10 episodes from the third series of Primeval, as well as a few extras.

The third series of Primeval starts out as everyone is dealing with the aftermath of Stephen's death and Helen's betrayal. Cutter now only has two people left on his team, Abby & Connor, but it won't stay that way for long. Within the first episode, Cutter adds two new members to his team, Captain Becker, the new leader of the ARC's security forces, and Sarah Page, an Egyptologist. A little bit later in the season, we also meet another addition to the team, Danny Quinn, a maverick policeman.

Now I don't want to give to much away of what happens in series 3, but what I can say is that you are in for a treat. The season has some pretty great episodes and you won't believe some of the things that happen.

Primeval is one of my favorite shows and I was really sad when I heard that series 3 was the final series of the show. Especially since it left you on a cliffhanger. But recently, it was announced that Primeval would return in 2011 for an all new season. So if I was excited for the release of series 3 on DVD, there is now even more reason to get your hands on it so you can get yourself ready for the new season.

I really enjoyed series 3 of Primeval and watching the episodes over again reminded me why I love the show so much. There are some events that happen this season that I wish didn't because it changes some of the dynamic of the characters, but overall it was a really strong season. The actors are still terrific, especially my favorites Douglas Henshall who plays Nick Cutter and Andrew-Lee Potts who plays Connor Temple. I even warmed up to the new characters and for me they now really feel part of the show.

And of course, the anomalies are back as well with ancient creatures even more terrifying than ever.

We also learn more about the artifact and what it does this season.

Overall, I think that if you enjoyed previous seasons of Primeval, you're going to enjoy season 3 a lot.

DVD Extras

Now on to the extras. I'll be honest, this DVD doesn't have too many of them, so if you enjoy them unfortunately you won't be too satisfied.

Among the extra features are a featurette about the character of Nick Cutter called "Cutter's Odyssey."

Another featurette is "Genesis of a Creature" which follows the 16 year old winner of the competition to design a creature for the show that the producers launched in 2008 as he visits the set of Primeval.

And finally, the DVD also includes audio commentary.

So there you have it. Make sure to get your hands on that Primeval volume 2 DVD.

The groundbreaking deal between Impossible Pictures Limited (IPL), BBC Worldwide (BBCW) and ITV, will deliver 13 new episodes in 2011. It will also ensure that the spectacular special effects that have made Primeval such a huge success will continue throughout the new season.

Mary Queen of Shops Comes to BBC America

Tonight, BBC America will premiere the third and last season of ROBIN HOOD. I got a chance to take a look at the first two episodes from the season, and while I still enjoyed the show, there were a few things that I missed from the first two seasons.

If you remember, last season ended with the tragic death of Marian and we sort of knew it would impact this season greatly.

The first episode opens as Robin and his band of outlaws return from the Holy Land. Robin announces that he doesn't want to be Robin Hood anymore and sends his gang away. His new "mission" now is taking revenge on Gisborne for killing Marian. But as you probably guessed, Robin doesn't stay alone for too long, because after all the show is called Robin Hood.

The episode also introduces a new character, Tuck, a traveling monk, who not only helps Robin regain his faith, but also becomes a new member of the gang. So far, I really enjoy him.

But Tuck is not the only new character this season. In episode two, we also meet Kate, a village girl, who through unfortunate circumstances becomes involved with the gang. It will be interesting to see how the dynamic between her and the gang evolves. I also wonder whose heart she will steal (because you know that's going to happen).

Overall, this new season starts out nice. However Marian's death has left too big of a hole to fill. Even the addition of Kate is not enough. Unfortunately, no one could ever replace Marian and the dynamic between her and Robin. It is very clear that this relationship gave something special to the show, and now that it's gone, Robin Hood has lost part of what made it such a great show.

On a positive note, I was really happy to see the rest of the gang back, including Much and Allan a Dale, who are my favorite characters. I think it's still going to be a fun season to watch and I'm curious to find out how it all ends.

So make sure to watch the season 3 premiere of Robin Hood when it premieres tonight, September 12, at 9pm on BBC America.

SIR DAVID ATTENBOROUGH
Sir David Attenborough is one of the world's best-known natural history presenters. His distinguished career spans more than 50 years, during which time he has done more than anyone else to popularize natural history programming and has become one of the world's most respected authorities on wildlife. His combination of charm and enthusiasm, together with concern for conservation and the environment, has been profoundly influential on several generations of viewers.

Born in London on 8 May 1926, Attenborough studied Natural Sciences at Cambridge. He served in the Royal Navy and joined the BBC in 1952 as a trainee producer of documentary programs. In 1954, he became a presenter and launched his famous series, Zoo Quest, which took him to the wilder parts of the world. In 1965, he took one of the top jobs in the BBC, Controller of BBC2, and was responsible for the introduction of color television into Britain. He went on to run both BBC television networks and in 1973, returned to program-making.

In 1979, he wrote and presented Life on Earth, at the time the most ambitious series ever produced by the BBC's Natural History Unit - an estimated 500 million people worldwide watched it. In 1984, came its sequel, The Living Planet, and in 1990, The Trials of Life, the final part of the epic trilogy spanning all life on Earth. This was followed by Life in the Freezer (1993), The Private Life of Plants (1995), The Life of Birds (1998), The Life of Mammals (2002), Life In The Undergrowth (2005) and Life In Cold Blood (2007), all of which received huge acclaim and many awards including the accompanying books and DVDs which topped bestseller lists.

OCCUPATION Coming to BBC America Fall 20009

BBC America has announced some of the September 2009 schedule, and needless to say I'm particularly excited for Robin Hood's Third season.

The BBC's hit revival of Robin Hood is back for a third series of high-action adventure and it's bigger and bolder than ever. BBC America - September Schedule

Check out Matt Smith in costume as the 11th Doctor filming new episodes of DOCTOR WHO.

We have known for a while that David Tennant would not be returning, and also found out that Matt Smith had been chosen to replace him, but now we finally get to see him as the Doctor thanks to BBC (via Scifi Wire).

Next to him is Karen Gillian, who is playing the Doctor's new companion, Amy Pond.

In addition to Matt Smith taking over the role, there were also some additional changes made behind-the-scenes of the show. Steven Moffat is now the new lead writer and executive producer, who will be responsible for the "overall creative direction of the show, as well as plot and character arcs." As a fan of his shows and all his Doctor Who episodes, I cannot wait to see what he has in store for us this new season.

The new Doctor Who series will premiere in Spring 2010 in the UK.

First Look at Matt Smith as the New DOCTOR WHO

After catching up on the first two seasons of SKINS and falling in love with the show, it was time to watch the first three episodes of season 3, which premieres tonight, August 6, at 9pm on BBC America.

Apart from Effy, Tony's sister and Pandora, whom we also met in season 2, the cast from season 1 and 2 is gone and season 3 introduces the second generation of Skins. This new generation includes Effy and Pandora, whom I mentioned above, Thomas Tomone, who just emigrated from the Congo, Katie and Emily Fitch, two very different twin sisters, Naomi Campbell, who is in no way related to the top model, James Cook, Freddie Mclair and JJ Jones, three childhood best friends.

So how does this new generation compare to the first one? Of course, no one will ever be able to replace the first generation, but I was open to discovering new characters and getting involved in their stories. Unfortunately, so far I don't think the new cast is as compelling as the first one, and neither are their stories. Now don't get me wrong, I still like the show, but the first generation set up my expectations really high and so far this new season hasn't met them.

I have two main issues with this new season:

1) Cook is just not likable at all, and so far I haven't seen any redeeming factors. Now while Chris (from generation 1) was obsessed with sex and came off like a jackass a little at first, there was always something sweet about him. The problem with Cook is that I don't understand why people are friends with him. But I'm hoping we find out more about him throughout the season that will change my opinion.

2) Episode 2 and 3 introduce a sort of villain, a gangster called Johnny White, which I could have done without. It took me out of the story and it just didn't fit with the teen feel.

Other than that, Skins is still a show that I think is worth watching. And I have already set my season pass for it. Plus in its defense, I think Skins is a series that you can only judge once you have seen the overall arch of the story, which I haven't yet. And so I'm expecting plenty of exciting new storylines and a finale that will leave us begging for more.

SKINS Season 3 Review

I have a confession to make, when SKINS premiered on BBC America a year ago, I started watching part of the first episode and then just gave up on it.

Why?

Well, it just didn't look like something that I thought I would enjoy because at the time I had so many shows to watch already on my schedule so I wasn't in the mood. Honestly I didn't give Skins a chance.

Fast forward to today (a year later). I recently received some screeners for Season 3 of Skins, which premieres tomorrow, August 6, at 9pm on BBC America, and thought it was time to give the show that has received so many praises another chance.

And so I spent the last week catching up on season 1 and 2 of Skins in order to be able to write my review for season 3.

Well let me tell you, I stand corrected. Not only is Skins a really amazing show, I have become addicted to it. I could not put the remote down and would just watch episodes back to back, cursing whenever I finished a DVD and had to wait for the next batch from Netflix.

It was like, where have you been Skins? How did I not know you before?

I will admit that it takes a couple of episodes to really get into the show, but from episode 1 I realized that I hadn't given Skins a fair chance the first time around. However, I am sort of glad that I only discovered it now because I got to watch both seasons back to back, which was such a great experience.

So what is Skins about? It follows the lives of a few teenagers as they deal with life, love, and heartbreaks. But as opposed to a teenage show on the CW, Skins is gritty and feels true. The cast doesn't look like it has been taken from a magazine page, but actually feels authentic and is relatable. Skins is also not afraid to deal with a lot of taboo subjects that teenagers are faced with truthfully.

But most of all what makes it different from other shows is that each episode focuses on one of the characters of the show and everyone else's story is seen through their eyes and storyline in that episode. It's really brilliant and so well done.

And if I thought season 1 was good, well I was even more blown away by season 2.

The cast is made up of mostly unknown brilliant actors, which only help make you fall in love with the characters and relate to them and the things happening in their lives. These could be people that go to your school or even your friends, which is something I rarely feel in American shows about teenagers. Skins proves once more how brilliant and out of the box British shows are. Although a fun fact is that Dev Patel, whom you probably now know from Slumdog Millionaire plays one of the characters in Skins.

So if you haven't yet, please do yourself a favor and check out Skins, especially if you love teenage dramas like Friday Night Lights.

As for season 3 of Skins, well I will be watching that tonight and will have a review ready for you tomorrow right in time for the premiere tomorrow night at 9pm on BBC America.

Discovering SKINS

Check out the trailer, as well as a clip from DOCTOR WHO: The Waters of Mars. This is the second special episode of Doctor Who, which follows "Planet of the Dead." It is expected to air in November 2009 in the UK.

I just cannot get enough of David Tennant as the Doctor and it's really sad to think that this is one of his last episodes, although I can't wait to see it.

DOCTOR WHO: The Waters of Mars Trailer

With the craziness of Comic Con, I totally forgot to let you guys know about my new British addiction.

It's called BEING HUMAN and it airs on Saturdays at 9pm on BBC America (episode one premiered July 25).

Being Human tells the story of three twenty-somethings roommates, a werewolf, a vampire, and a ghost. Here is why the show is so great: it takes all three supernatural creatures that people like to read about or watch the most, and puts them all together.

George (Russell Tovey) and Mitchell (Aidan Turner) both work in a hospital as porters, while each dealing with the problems that come with being respectively a werewolf and a vampire.

Even though George's transformation only happens during the full moon, it does impact his ability to have a meaningful relationship. As for Mitchell, he has to deal with the duality of craving blood and wanting to leave the vampire side of him behind.

Annie (Lenora Crichlow) is the ghost haunting George and Mitchell's apartment, who also becomes their third roommate by default. Annie died not too long after her and her fiance moved into the apartment she now is stuck in, and she longs for him, who is now the boys' landlord.

The three of them start to build a bond and support each other with each of their secrets.

In episode two, George meets another werewolf, Tully, who shows him a different way to deal with being a werewolf.

This is an interesting episode and explores a little more of George's feelings about being a werewolf. It's not the best one, but it's definitely a good one.

While I really enjoy Being Human, it is not as dark as I expected it to be when I first heard what it was about. That said, after watching three episodes, I am definitely hooked and it is definitely one of my favorite shows of the summer. The cast is really great together, and I particularly love Russell Tovey who plays George, I could watch him all day, he's hilarious.

If you enjoy supernatural shows about werewolves, vampires and/or ghosts, then you're definitely going to want to check out Being Human on Saturdays at 9pm on BBC America. The first season only has 6 episodes, so it's definitely perfect for the summer. And if you really get into it, the good news is they are working on a second season, which is schedule to air in January 2010 in the UK.
