Synopsis: Set in a world where friends have become the new family, Mistresses follows the lives and loves of a group of girlfriends whose lives have taken very different turns. Successful lawyer, Siobhan, seems to be living in wedded bliss with husband, Hari, but her eyes begin to wander when her sex life becomes less about 'making love' and more about 'making babies.' Trudi, a 9/11 widow, finds comfort in the arms of a man, Richard, after spending six years grieving her husband's death. Meanwhile, Jessica seduces her boss and pursues Alex, one half of a lesbian couple, while Katie, a well respected doctor and the rock of the group, begins an affair with a married patient. Their tangled web of love and deceit envelops all four friends with life-changing results.

The Shield (The Complete Seventh Season)

Synopsis: The Road to Justice will blow you away! Detective Vic Mackey is the leader of an elite Strike Team unit, a group of cops effective at eliminating crime but also operating under Vic's own set of rules. But his rules sometimes cross the fine line between legal and illegal. Now the precinct has a new captain who doesn't like Vic's tactics and wants to bust him off the force-even as he finds himself going to Vic for help whenever the going gets rough.

Cast: Michael Chiklis, Catherine Dent, Walt Goggins, Michael Jace, Kenny Johnson, Jay Karnes, Benito Martinez

Recommendations: I have never been a fan of The Shield, or I guess I should say that I didn't start watching it the first season, and then never caught up. But I have watched a few episodes here and there and understand why so many people love it. A lot of my friends love it too, and I have to admit the acting is pretty powerful. But since this is the final season, I don't really think I have to convince you guys to watch it, since most of you are probably already fans.

The Cleaner (The First Season)

Synopsis: "The Cleaner," inspired by the true story of a real-life "extreme interventionist," follows William "The Cleaner" Banks, who, after hitting rock-bottom from his own addictions after the birth of his daughter, strikes a tentative deal with God. Now along with his unconventional team, he helps people get away from their addictions by any means necessary.

Cast: Benjamin Bratt, Grace Park, Esteban Powell, Amy Price-Francis, Kevin Michael Richardson, Liliana Mumy, Brett DelBuono

Recommendations: I really enjoyed season 1 of The Cleaner. I wasn't sure about the first couple of episodes, but then really got into it. It's not my favorite show, but I think it's definitely worth a look. Plus now is the perfect time to catch up since Season 2 will premiere on June 23.

New TV on DVD Releases for the Week of June 9 2009

MISTRESSES: Volume One will be released on DVD tomorrow, June 9, 2009. The DVD includes all 12 episodes from season 1 and 2, in addition to cast interviews and 'The Making of Mistresses' featurette.

Some of you might already know that I am a huge fan of Mistresses so it should come as no surprise that I am really excited that a DVD including all the episodes is getting released.

I got an early look at the DVD itself, and I have to say this is perfect for fans of the show that want to watch the episodes over and over again. And for those of you who have not yet jumped on the train, I have to ask, what are you waiting for?

Mistresses is one of the best written shows about women, their love lives, their affairs, and friendships. The show follows four 30-something friends as they deal with their complicated and intense lives.

Siobhan (Orla Brady) and her husband, Hari (Raza Jaffrey) are a happy married couple, but their sex lives becomes all about making babies, which leads Siobhan's eyes to wonder on a different man.

Trudi (Sharon Small) finds new love in the arms of Richard (Patrick Baladi) after losing her husband during 9/11.

Jessica (Shelley Conn), "the wild-child," discovers a new lesbian experience with Alex (Anna Torv), one of her clients about to get married.

Katie (Sarah Parish) deals with the death of one of her patients, with whom she was having an affair. This leads to even more complications in her life she didn't expect.

All of their stories evolve in unexpected and exciting ways. You find yourself caring and rooting for these characters to succeed in their lives. But they are not perfect and that's why you can relate to them. Every single character has their flaws and they make mistakes, but I think the friendship between them is what makes the show jell.

Season one starts off with really great stories and season two expends into new exciting stories. The writers of Mistresses have created three dimensional characters that we care about, and the actors are bringing them to life beautifully.

This is one of the best shows that I have seen, and I really recommend you check it out. While it might not appeal to men so much, I think women will really fall in love with the characters and stories surrounding them.

MISTRESSES Volume One DVD Review

So you guys fell in love with season one of MISTRESSES and tonight, March 3rd, BBC America will premiere the second season of the show.

So what will become of Katie, Trudi, Siobhan, and Jessica? Well, you won't have to wait long to find out.

Having seen the first episode, I can tell you that this is the beginning of a new chapter in the lives of all four women and if you enjoyed the first season, then you'll definitely enjoy finding out what new drama will befall each of them once again.

After her affair with father and son, Katie has sworn off relationships for a while, but as you probably guessed, this won't last very long.

Trudi is trying to get to the next level of her relationship with Richard.

Jessica is, well, Jessica. Although you might be surprised to learn she might have found her other half.

And finally, as for Siobhan, she is still trying to work things out with Hari. But I gotta admit having lost all sympathy for her. I do hope she will redeem herself during the rest of the season.

Overall, it's quite a great second season premiere and Mistresses continues to be one of the best shows on television.

With that say make sure you don't miss tonight's season two premiere of Mistresses at 8pm on BBC America.

MISTRESSES Season 2 Premiere (BBC America)

On February 20 at 8pm, BBC America will premiere a new series, MISTRESSES. Ladies, let me tell you one thing: Don't miss this!

I am usually a big fan of all the BBC America shows, and so when I got to take a look at their new show Mistresses, I was sort of excited. Unfortunately, I wasn't too blown away by the first episode and was even thinking of writing an average review for it. But before doing that I decided to watch the entire first series to really get an overview of the show. And it's a good thing I did because I don't know what happened but that second episode sucked me into the show to the point where I couldn't stop watching. Any empty moment I had, I would pop that DVD right in to find out what happened next. Even now, after watching the first season, I cannot wait to start watching the next one.

But before I go on, you might ask, what is Mistresses about? And I'll be honest about this, it is not a show for men (not that some might not enjoy it, especially with some of the girl on girl action), but I think this is really a show for women. It follows the lives of four friends, Katie (Sarah Parish), Trudi (Sharon Small), Siobhan (Orla Brady), and Jessica (Shelley Conn), and their love lives and infidelities. (If you want more information about each of the character, you can read below, but be warned that it might contain spoilers).

The series follows the story of each woman and what happens to them. Mistresses is definitely a drama, but a drama worth watching. It is really rare for me (in fact I don't think it ever happened before) to find a show in which I genuinely care about each character's storyline and look forward to each of them without wanting to skip any part of it. But Mistresses has achieved that. Of course I did have my favorite story and character (it's Katie if you must know), but I found myself enjoying every part of the show.

In addition, the creators have done a really good job at finding an amazing cast that was able to bring these women alive in a way that will allow the audience to relate to them. They are all great friends, but at the same time, they each have their own personalities and quirks and that's what makes the show really enjoyable and true.

And so, don't miss Mistresses when it premieres tomorrow, February 20, night at 8pm (and on Fridays at 9pm after that) on BBC America. I think some of you might be surprised by what you find.

Katie (Sarah Parish) is a well-respected doctor and the rock of the group. She had an affair with a terminally ill patient for the last two years and crosses even further professional boundaries when he asks her to make a huge sacrifice. Yet, despite being the group's confidante, she cannot reveal this burdensome secret to her friends.

Trudi (Sharon Small) is a 9/11 widow, unable to achieve closure as the body of her husband, Paul, was never found. She is trying to bring up their two daughters on her own, while struggling with her conscience and coming to terms with her desire to move on with her life. Following a 'barren period' lasting several years, Trudi begins to date and finds herself regressing back to being an awkward teen on a string of disastrous dates with handsome, single dad Richard (Patrick Baladi, The Office, Bodies).

Siobhan (Orla Brady) seems to be living in wedded bliss with husband, Hari (Raza Jaffrey, MI-5), and has a successful career as a lawyer. The only problem is that her sex life has become less about 'making love' and more about 'making babies'. With the prospect of red-hot passion and an inability to control the sexual chemistry with her flirtatious colleague Dominic (Adam Rayner), Siobhan soon finds herself on the precipice of potential self-destruction.

Jessica (Shelley Conn) is a gorgeous, fun-loving, straight-talking commitment-phobe whose insatiable and adventurous sexual appetite makes her attractive to men and a mistress to many, including her boss, Simon (Adam Astill). Her commitment to her friends is unshakable, but Jessica shirks at any mention of the 'c-word' in a relationship and marriage is the last thing on her 'to do' list in life – an irony that is not lost on her when Simon asks her to organize a wedding for Lisa (Alys Thomas) and Alex (Anna Torv).
