I got a chance to take a look at the PRIMEVAL Volume Two DVD, which is now available to own (you can buy it on Amazon).
The DVD contains all 10 episodes from the third series of Primeval, as well as a few extras.
The third series of Primeval starts out as everyone is dealing with the aftermath of Stephen's death and Helen's betrayal. Cutter now only has two people left on his team, Abby & Connor, but it won't stay that way for long. Within the first episode, Cutter adds two new members to his team, Captain Becker, the new leader of the ARC's security forces, and Sarah Page, an Egyptologist. A little bit later in the season, we also meet another addition to the team, Danny Quinn, a maverick policeman.

Now I don't want to give to much away of what happens in series 3, but what I can say is that you are in for a treat. The season has some pretty great episodes and you won't believe some of the things that happen.

Primeval is one of my favorite shows and I was really sad when I heard that series 3 was the final series of the show. Especially since it left you on a cliffhanger. But recently, it was announced that Primeval would return in 2011 for an all new season. So if I was excited for the release of series 3 on DVD, there is now even more reason to get your hands on it so you can get yourself ready for the new season.

I really enjoyed series 3 of Primeval and watching the episodes over again reminded me why I love the show so much. There are some events that happen this season that I wish didn't because it changes some of the dynamic of the characters, but overall it was a really strong season. The actors are still terrific, especially my favorites Douglas Henshall who plays Nick Cutter and Andrew-Lee Potts who plays Connor Temple. I even warmed up to the new characters and for me they now really feel part of the show.

And of course, the anomalies are back as well with ancient creatures even more terrifying than ever.

We also learn more about the artifact and what it does this season.

Overall, I think that if you enjoyed previous seasons of Primeval, you're going to enjoy season 3 a lot.

DVD Extras

Now on to the extras. I'll be honest, this DVD doesn't have too many of them, so if you enjoy them unfortunately you won't be too satisfied.

Among the extra features are a featurette about the character of Nick Cutter called "Cutter's Odyssey."

Another featurette is "Genesis of a Creature" which follows the 16 year old winner of the competition to design a creature for the show that the producers launched in 2008 as he visits the set of Primeval.

And finally, the DVD also includes audio commentary.

So there you have it. Make sure to get your hands on that Primeval volume 2 DVD.

You can also check out a clip from series 3 below.

Original co-production partners ITV, ProSieben and BBC Worldwide return to co-fund the new series, with BBC Worldwide becoming the majority funding partner. BBC AMERICA, takes on a full co-production credit for the first time and UKTV becomes a first-time investor.

Jonathan Drake, MD of Impossible Pictures Ltd says: “The dramatic changes in the business of broadcasting in the last 12 months have meant we have had to completely rethink how we put the funding together for a top-end series like Primeval. The fact that the series is so well established and loved both in the UK and overseas has meant that everyone has been willing to do their best to give us the backing we needed. With the continued enthusiasm of co-producers such as ProSieben and the fantastic support of the team at BBC Worldwide we have stitched together a ground-breaking clutch of deals that will guarantee Primeval’s ongoing success.”

Helen Jackson, BBC Worldwide’s Director of Independents added: “There was a real desire between Impossible Pictures, ITV, ProSieben and BBC Worldwide to make this project succeed and to bring Primeval back from the brink of extinction. Our increased investment in the title is a reflection of our belief in the quality of the whole production and its international appeal.”

Richard de Croce, SVP Programming at BBC AMERICA adds: "Primeval is one of BBC AMERICA's all time top ten shows and we're thrilled to be co-producing the new season. It’s an innovative deal securing the future of an innovative show - and we can’t wait to bring it back to U.S. fans.”

The new series will be show run once again by Adrian Hodges and will feature the return of stars from the previous series, including Hannah Spearritt, Andrew Lee Potts and Jason Flemyng, alongside special effects created by the award-winning team at Framestore CFC.

Primeval is one of BBC Worldwide’s most successful drama exports and has been sold to over 45 countries, including Australia, America, Singapore and South Korea. In the UK the show, which broadcast on ITV1, reached audiences of over 5.5 million every week.

About BBC Worldwide

BBC Worldwide Limited is the main commercial arm and a wholly owned subsidiary of the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC). The company exists to maximize the value of the BBC’s assets for the benefit of the license fee payer and invest in public service programming in return for rights. Season 3 of PRIMEVAL will finally premiere tomorrow, Saturday May 16 at 9pm on BBC America, and you don't want to miss it.
Primeval follows a team of scientist who investigate the appearances of temporal anomalies across Great Britain and try to send the prehistoric and futuristic creatures that come through it back.
I'll admit that I was behind on my watching of Primeval, but the announcement of the third season was the perfect excuse for me to catch up, and catch up I did. It only took one episode for me to be right back into it. Primeval is without a doubt one of the best series on television right now.

It's smart and exciting, with each episode bringing the show to a new level. The cast is brilliant and each character brings something unique to the show.

And so it was with great excitement that I got a sneak peek at the first four new episodes of season 3. After the tragic way season 2 ended and the shocking reveal, I think it's clear that we're all left wondering where Cutter and his team are headed this new season.

Well, let me tell you that the first four episode will leave you wanting for more. Among what you can expect are some new faces on the team. With Stephen gone, the team needed a replacement and they find it in Sarah Page, however her role will be different from what Stephen's was. We will meet Sarah in the first episode and unfortunately for her she's thrown in the middle of the action.

In addition, you can expect some pretty shocking events to take place within the first three episodes. I won't tell you what it is, but I can tell you that the team will be affected in ways that I wouldn't have expected.

Helen Cutter will also be back with a new plan, however you'll have to tune in to find out if she succeeds in carrying it out.

As for Connor and Abby, all I can say is that the teasing of will they won't they will continue.

And of course, Primeval wouldn't be what it is without the threat of anomalies. And we'll get plenty of those this new season. From cute creatures to not so cute ones, the team will have their hands full.

Primeval is one of the rare shows that provides the audience with answers to its secrets every season, while at the same time gripping us with new plot points.

So far this season is looking to be one of the best for Primeval. And an even better news for fans is that a feature film is also in the works for 2010 for which Warner Bros has just acquired the rights.

This is an absolute must-see, so don't forget to tune in to the new season premiere of Primeval tomorrow, Saturday May 16, at 9pm on BBC America. And if you have plans, cancel them.

The Brits have done it again and created a new awesome TV show called PRIMEVAL.
Premiering Saturday, August 9, at 9pm on BBC America, the show follows a team consisting of zoologist, Nick Cutter and his research assistant Stephen Hart, zoologist Abby Maitland, and student palaeontologist Connor Temple, as they try to understand what brought a prehistoric predator Gorgonopsid into our world. Yep, that's right we're talking dinosaurs, but unlike in Jurassic Park where they are "contained" on an island, these dinosaurs roam free among us. And so Nick and his team along with Government officials James Lester and Claudia Brown, who try to keep this information secret from the public, will have to work together in order to "save the world" or at least their city.

The Brits have done it again and created a new awesome TV show called PRIMEVAL.

I found the first episode of Primeval so entertaining and actually quite smart. There is an explanation as to how the dinosaurs got into our world but we don't really know why it happened, which is part of why you want to keep tuning in. And although you might be inclined to think this is a show about dinosaurs, let me assure you that it is not. Already in episode 2, Nick and his team come face to face with supersized spiders in the subway, and lord knows what else for the rest of the season. I am actually looking forward to see what other types of creatures find their way into our world.

But back to the first episode, another layer is also added to the story when we learn that Nick's wife, who he thought was dead, might actually still be alive. But finding her will be another problem to solve.

And finally, and that's my favorite, not all creature on Primeval are evil (hey that rhymes!). Abby Maitland (the zoologist) finds and becomes quite attached to the cutest small lizard. I mean that only sold me on the show, but I'm easy that way, just throw in some cute animal and you got me.

For those not as easily persuaded, I will say this, Primeval is definitely worth a look. The actors are strong and the storylines solid, plus there is a lot of action (you know, the creatures on the loose thing is pretty exhausting).

Don't forget to watch the premiere of Primeval on Saturday, August 9, at 9pm on BBC America.

PRIMEVAL is an all new show coming from across the pond about a zoologist, Nick Cutter (Douglas Henshall), who discovers that prehistoric creatures are living in the present day. With his newly assembled team, Nick will try to uncover the truth behind this new discovery, but the thing is it's not easy to send a huge dinosaur back from where it came from.
I don't know how they do it, but the Brits just come up with great shows, and Primeval is another one that you should check out. We will have a review coming up soon with more details about the first episode, but for now enjoy the pictures from the first episode below.
Don't forget to watch Primeval season one premiere on Saturday, August 9, at 9pm on BBC America.

Episode Synopsis: Nick Cutter is an evolutionary zoologist who finds himself confronted with the subject of his studies in a way he could never have imagined. Prompted by the enthusiasm of his geeky-but-brilliant graduate student, Connor Temple, Professor Cutter and his lab technician, Stephen Hart, go to investigate strange sightings of an unknown animal in the forest. Meanwhile, Abby Maitland, a zoo worker, is discovering that the forest is also home to the strangest pet she’s ever seen. Could a small lizard, picked up by a young boy in the woods, really be an entirely new species? Determined to find out more, Abby and the boy head off, but as night falls the forest becomes a frightening place.
Claudia Brown, the government official in charge of investigating rogue animal sightings is hoping Cutter will dismiss the sightings as fake, but when Cutter invites Claudia along to join the search, the animal is all too real. When they go down to the woods, they find a petrified Abby face to face with a Scutosaurus - a giant beast straight from the Permian Era of 250 million years ago. Terrifyingly though, this creature seems to be the least of their worries. Abby is convinced the Scutosaurus is vegetarian, so how can they explain the sickening sight of a dead cow hauled high into a tree?
The young boy’s tales of a flesh-hungry monster at his window may sound like nonsense to his mother, but his story confirms Cutter’s worst fears - a savage Gorgonopsid, one of the most dangerous predators of the Permian Era, is also on the loose and it becomes a race against time to track the beast before it finds its next meal. Where on earth are these creatures coming from? Are they an evolutionary throwback? Or an experimental hybrid perhaps?
