Review: DIRT “In Lieu of Flowers…” (S02E07)
April 13, 2008

Don’t forget that tonight, April 13, is the DIRT season 2 finale on FX at 10pm.
I have already seen the episode and so wanted to write a quick review about it before it airs tonight.
First of all, I would like to say that I have really enjoyed this second season of Dirt, I think they moved forward into the story and didn’t just repeat season 1.
We already see a difference between the Don and Lucy relationship, where Don is not willing to do everything it takes anymore to get the shot.
Lucy cannot fight her feelings for Holt anymore, which would have never happened in season 1.
Dirt is growing and so are its characters.
Moving on to tonight’s finale.
A few relationships are explored a bit further, although not as far as I would have liked, which will probably be for next season.
A tragedy hits Lucy’s family, which is sort of the focus of the episode.
And, there is one shocker (at least to me) in the episode about one character who might not be coming back. I won’t say much more, so you’ll need to tune in to find out what exactly I am talking about.
However, even though this is the season finale, it doesn’t deliver a big shocker at the end of the episode like the one from last year. Unfortunately that is due to the fact that episode seven, “In Lieu of Flowers…”, was not supposed to be the season finale, but because of the strike, the season was cut short.
But, was it enough for me to tune in again next season? Yes, definitely. They do leave a few storylines open that I am curious about. And so, for an episode that wasn’t supposed to be a finale, I think it holds up pretty well.
If you have enjoyed Dirt this season, then you will absolutely enjoy tonight’s episode.
Review: DIRT “What Is This Thing Called…” (S02E05)
April 1, 2008

I wanted to do a quick review of last night’s episode DIRT since we are already on episode five.
“What Is This Thing Called…” is one of the best episodes of Dirt so far, especially if you are a fan of the Lucy and Holt relationship. It seems they are ready to start over and maybe even (dare I say the word?) date. A movie star dating the editor-in-chief of a tabloid magazine, now that’s a cover story for Dirt Now.
Ironically, the relationship between Lucy and Don is not doing good. Now that Don is on his medication he seems to understand what part of his job really means to the celebrities he pursues.
The Britney-like character, Sharlee gets lots of sympathy votes from the audience and is seen under a different light than the spotlight we are used to seeing her under, which I really enjoy.
As for Farber and Willa, things are getting pretty steamy between these two. But wait, doesn’t Farber have a girlfriend? Oh what am I talking about, after this is the Dirt world.
The only bad thing I can think of is that there are only two episodes of Dirt left this season.
Early Review: DIRT - Season 2 “Welcome To Normal”
March 2, 2008

After a shocking first season, DIRT is coming back on March 2 for Season 2.
If you read our interview with Courteney Cox then you already know a few things about this new season, for example that the storylines are ripped from real headlines and that the new season will have a lighter overall tone.
After watching the first episode, “Welcome To Normal” I can tell you that you do notice a difference in the tone of the show, starting with Lucy Spiller’s first words out of her mouth as she wakes up from her coma: “The cover.”
This new season of Dirt looks like it’s going to be another good one. In the first episode you can already look forward to some new staff, a new guy named Farber Kauffman and a new Kenny (literally) who has a “condition” that Lucy enjoys taking advantage of.
In addition, you can look forward to a Britney and an Anna Nicole Smith type story line in the first episode alone. I can only imagine what the rest of the season has in store for us.
Interview: COURTENEY COX from DIRT on FX
February 29, 2008

Recently, Daemon’s TV was able to participate in a conference call with the wonderful COURTENEY COX to talk about the season 2 of DIRT, which premieres on March 2 at 10pm on FX.
After a great first season, Dirt is coming back with a few changes and surprises up its sleeve. Courteney Cox shared with us some of the changes we can expect this new season, such as storylines inspired by real headlines and Don being on medication. In addition, expect to see Lucy having more fun this season. Overall, it sounds like this season is a mix of what we loved last season, plus a touch of fun. There is only one bad news, the second season is only 7 episodes long (because of the writers strike), so enjoy them.
Now on to the interview.
This season feels a little bit more ripped from the headlines, was it something of a conscious choice, just following the past year of what’s gone on, or was it just accidental?
Courteney Cox: No, it’s absolutely a choice. We thought that would be a good way to just start the season, and it is absolutely ripped from the headlines. We usually do a hybrid of celebrities and then add to the story like maybe what happened to cause this to happen to them or sum it up in a different way just for fun. But yes, it’s definitely relatable this year and I think it makes for just a more exciting television show.

I think it’s time I get caught up to Season 1. I have one month, that should be enough.
