IT'S ALWAYS SUNNY IN PHILADELPHIA "The Gang Gives Frank an Intervention" Season 5 Episode 4

Season 4 of IT'S ALWAYS SUNNY IN PHILADELPHIA was recently released on DVD (you can buy it on Amazon) and I got a chance to take a sneak peek at what you can expect from the it.

It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia is without a doubt one of the funniest shows on TV, but also the most outrageous one. There is nothing these people won't do... seriously, nothing.

The Season 4 DVD contains all 13 original episodes, which you can watch over and over again without them ever getting old. Some of my favorite episodes this season include "Who Pooped the Bed?", "The Gang Gets Extreme: Home Makeover Edition", and "Dennis Reynolds: An Erotic Life." They are pretty hilarious.

But the best thing about this season of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia is that is has my favorite all-time episode "The Nightman Cometh." It's the one with the famous Nightman Opera musical! And as a musical fanatic even the outrageousness of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia couldn't prevent me from loving every minute of it. Actually, I think I love it even more because of it. To me this DVD is worth owning just so that I can watch this episode over and over again.

But that's not all. The DVD also contains some fun special features, including bloopers, and you know how much I love those!

There is also a featurette on "The Nightman Cometh" episode live performance by the cast. And you actually get to see some new numbers from the Nightman Opera. It's so much fun.

And finally, "Dennis Reynolds: An Erotic Life" is a fun feature based on the episode of the same name in which Dennis shares some of his sexual exploits.

So if you are a fan of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia make sure to get your hands on this DVD of season 4.

To kick off the September 17 season five premiere of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, FX has launched “Greenman Tweet Week” where teams of talent dressed as Greenman will be hitting colleges, events, and hot spots making random appearances in unexpected places and engaging passerby’s.

During each encounter, Greenman distributes palm cards that proclaim “You’ve just had a Greenman sighting” and provide fans with instructions to tweet about it. The fans are then encouraged to post messages and photos about their Greenman sightings by tagging their posts with #sunnyfx.

Additionally, in support of the new season and Greenman Tweet Week, FX is asking fans to show their love for Greenman by putting on the suit, showing up at events, taking photos, shooting videos and sharing details with the gang by also sending tweets tagged with #sunnyfx.

Today I got the privilege of checking out the first episode of Season 5 of IT'S ALWAYS SUNNY IN PHILADELPHIA, "The Gang Exploits The Mortgage Crisis," which premiers on FX on September 17th 2009.

So what can I tell you about the first episode? Well, within the first minute it's revealed that somebody is having a baby (I won't tell you who) and Frank has just purchased a foreclosed house. The only problem with said house is that the family is still living in it, and will be for the next 90 days. This doesn't sit well with Frank, who is eager to flip it for a quick buck. Mac and Dennis come to Frank's aid and pose as gay realty partners, "Honey & Vinegar" to sell it off before it becomes more a burden. Yes, that's right, and if that doesn't give you enough reason to check out season 5 I'm not sure what does.

Meanwhile, Charlie challenges the home owner's lawyer to a duel and Dee tries to negotiate a business opportunity of her own. Frank also makes a few hilarious appearances and as always, does not disappoint. All said, it's a great episode that is full of laughs and an encouraging beginning to season 5. Episode one also contains a nice guest star appearance by Melanie Lynskey (Two and a Half Men).

Season 5 Summary:

Crude, controversial, outlandish, and downright hilarious. The gang's all back for a 5th season of FX's original comedy series It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

Come join Charlie (Charlie Day), Mac (Rob McElhenney), Dennis (Glenn Howerton), Sweet Dee (Kaitlin Olson), and Frank (Danny DeVito), the self-centered owners of Paddy's Pub in Philadelphia who will do just about anything, no matter how reprehensible, in an attempt to better their own situation. Coming off a season in which they performed a musical, pooped the bed, and nearly died, you would think the gang would have learned their lesson by now. Well, think again.

Buckle up as the gang goes on a road trip. Be sure to take notes when Dennis reveals his secret method for seduction. From wrestling for the returning troops to stimulating the economy to sneaking into the World Series, there's no shortage of scheming this year for the staff at Paddy's.

And that's just a taste of what's to come. In vitro fertilization, food fetishes, interventions, drinking games, internet dating, and a whole lot of cats. Oh, and did I mention Greenman? There's something for everybody in season five of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

Last week we finally got the premiere of IT'S ALWAYS SUNNY IN PHILADELPHIA (which was hilarious), but there is more coming this season.

A few weeks ago, Daemon's TV and other press outlets were invited on the set of It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia to talk with the cast and get a preview as to what is coming up.

During the visit, the Paddy's Bar had been transformed into an older version of it called Patrick's Pub. That's because the episode they were shooting, "The Gang Cracks the Liberty Bell," is about the gang trying to convince the Philadelphia Historical Society to put Paddy's Pub on the historical walk tour, which leads them to tell this tale about Patrick's Pub in 1776.

We got to watch a scene from that episode, and it was pretty funny. At some point 1776 Dee stabs Dennis, but I won't say more.

When we sat down with the cast, they had a lot of things to tell us about what it's like to work behind and in front of the camera (all three guys, Charlie Day, Glenn Howerton, Rob McElhenney, are also writers and producers on the show), as well as all the crazy storylines we can expect this season.

If you thought there was a limit to where they are willing to go, let me tell you, you were wrong. Among the subjects the gang will deal with this season are rape and pedophilia, which I am so looking forward to.

And if you were afraid that after taking these big issues, the guys would be left with nothing to talk about, fear not, as they explained to us, you can use the smallest subject or detail and make it into a whole episode. They mentioned the waitress dating someone (poor Charlie), a shining mirror, healthcare, and mortgage prices.

Any Danny DeVito's fans out there? Because Frank is back this season and apparently will go to a swingers party, "Think Eyes Wide Shut but not."

Oh and did I mention that there was going to be a story about someone pooping in bed? I kid you not.

Finally, Margaret McPoyle will return this season but without her brothers (that totally sucks). Dennis will also meet Rob Thomas and Sinbad in a rehab facility, and if you checked out the behind the scenes video, you can see part of that episode.

The cherry on the cake (at least for me), there will be a musical episode. The gang decides to put up "Nightman, the musical."

How far has the crew of misfits of IT’S ALWAYS SUNNY IN PHILADELPHIA gone this time in the episode "Manhunters"? Two words: Cannibalism and Hunting People.

The title of the episode "Manhunters" relates to one of the story lines where Mac and Dennis (Rob McElhenney and Glenn Howerton) take hunting for sport to the next level, the human level. Funny story, especially with Frank (Danny DeVito) who thinks he's John Rambo...literally.

The other story line is with Charlie and Dee (Charlie Day and Kaitlin Olson) who find that they have a lot in common with Anthony Hopkins's Lecter character. I know it sounds gross, but I'm sorry it is still freaking funny.

Awesome episode as usual. I am so glad the gang IT’S ALWAYS SUNNY IN PHILADELPHIA is back! I am especially looking forward to see more Charlie's antics because he is my favorite character. Who is your favorite character?
