The new song, "We'll Get By Somehow (We Always Do)," the audio and video which were recently filmed at Cyrus' farm in Nashville, was penned by Cyrus as an emotional response to the storyline of his new Hallmark Channel Original Movie, "Christmas in Canaan," which premieres on the network Saturday, December 12 (8p.m. ET/PT, 7C).
The excitement begins early for fans of Hallmark Channel USA on Facebook, where Cyrus aficionados will get a rare opportunity to stream the song on November 24 – four days before the video's world premiere. Additional opportunities to access the song and the video will be announced at Twitter/HallmarkChannel, along with instructions on how fans can win one of 100 signed copies of Billy Ray Cyrus's current CD, BACK TO TENNESSEE.
In the film, which is based on the book co-written by Grammy winner Kenny Rogers, Cyrus stars as Daniel Burton, a widower struggling to get by as he raises his children in Canaan, TX, in the early 1960s. When his young son picks a fight with a black classmate, Daniel forces the two of them to spend time together, leading to an unlikely, lifelong friendship.
"When I read the script, I was floored to realize that this character I'm playing, Daniel, was my dad," says Cyrus, whose father passed away in 2006. "I had to take it on because it's like I'm able to honor him with this role, and that's a bigger thrill than I can say. And to also be able to write and sing the theme song really brings it all full circle."

Gabrielle Anwar("Burn Notice") and Craig Sheffer ("One Tree Hill") have been cast to star in "Murder Among Friends" (tentative title), a Hallmark Channel Original Movie about a group of college friends who reunite for a bridal shower that turns into a crime scene investigation when one of the friends is found dead and is presumed to have been murdered. One of the friends is devastated and becomes fixated on solving the crime.

"Murder Among Friends" has begun production in Vancouver, B.C., Canada, and will premiere on Hallmark Channel in 2010.

Joss Jenner (Anwar), an art authenticator, joins her college girlfriends, including her beautiful former roommate, Cait Randell (Thea Gill, "Queer As Folk"), with whom she has an unresolved dispute. Despite some tension, all of them are looking forward to a fun reunion of the old gang and a bridal shower for one of the girls. When they all arrive at the cozy White Swan Bed and Breakfast, the women start getting caught up on each other's lives and taking part in the festivities, including playing silly bridal shower games. However, after dinner on the second night, when Joss volunteers to help clean up, she sees something on the ground and realizes it's Cait's dead body.

Sheriff Zach Watts (Sheffer) and the local authorities immediately begin an investigation, and Joss, who has many questions – including the truth from Cait about what really happened in their past – can't relax until she finds out who committed the crime.

"The Night Before the Night Before Christmas" has begun production in Toronto, Canada, and is set to premiere on Hallmark Channel in 2010.

Angela Fox (Beals) and her husband, Wayne (Rick Roberts, "The Note"), are so busy juggling their busy careers – she's a professional photographer and he's an aviation executive – they haven't gotten around to shopping or decorating for Christmas. And with Christmas two days away, their house is the only house in the neighborhood that isn't decorated at all.

Suddenly, after having a mid-flight accident, Santa Claus and his reindeer land with a thud on their roof. The Foxes decide to check on the commotion and think at first that he's just a mall Santa, but with the help of their son, Toby, who still believes, they decide to play along to help Santa out. But he's lost his memory and his magical bag and soon they realize they've got a true crisis on their hands -- and that they better start helping Santa remember what's he supposed to do so that the world doesn't have to miss Christmas.

Hallmark Channel, the premiere television destination for family entertainment, will debut its new year-round, holiday countdown programming and marketing campaign, "Hallmark Channel Holiday Countdown," a cross-platform initiative that will launch with "Countdown to Halloween" and continue with "Countdown to Thanksgiving," before culminating in a major five-week long programming and marketing blitz celebrating "Countdown to Christmas."

With the new initiative, the channel will devote ongoing special event status leading to major holidays throughout the year.
The ambitious campaigns for each featured holiday will be implemented through a variety of formats and platforms including on-air, online, ad sponsor packages and a retail promotion with more than 3,200 participating Hallmark Gold Crown® stores nationwide.

"As part of our ambitious plans for re-shaping Hallmark Channel while staying true to and capitalizing on the incredible value of the Hallmark brand, we will be creating events by wrapping programming and promotional resources around the many holidays that are celebrated throughout the year," said Bill Abbott, President and CEO, Hallmark Channel. The "Countdown" campaigns will also include microsites found at the consumer website www.hallmarkchannel.com, sponsored customizable vignettes and on-air promos and keyables that will remind viewers about the number of days remaining before each holiday.

For "Countdown to Christmas," Hallmark Channel also will partner with Hallmark Gold Crown® stores to produce a national sweepstakes that will run November 1 through December 24. Participating Hallmark Gold Crown® stores will distribute customer appreciation packs featuring tune-in information, custom affiliate messaging, more than $50 in savings on Hallmark Gold Crown® product and sweepstakes information. The "Holiday Homecoming Sweepstakes" will award four grand prizes featuring $25,000 cash and a hosted, holiday homecoming party for up to 20 of the winners' family members. This year, the sweepstakes will be sponsored nationally by Ocean Spray and will attain more than 470 systems representing more than 40 million subscribers. The homepage of the consumer website, www.hallmarkchannel.com, will be re-wrapped November 21, with the new "Countdown to Christmas" look and feel. Ben Landis (Elliott) is shocked when his boss gives him the news that his job as an advertising executive is over because he makes too much money and can be easily replaced by three younger guys for the same amount. Then he fires his live-in housekeeper who he can no longer afford to keep. Ned Giles (Green), an aspiring photographer, is desperate for a job at a local newspaper. When he notices a flyer advertising the chance for privileged men to sign up for an adventure into Old Mexico to save a young boy from the clutches of wild Apache Indians, he convinces Tolley Phillips (Mathew Edison, "House Party"), the troublemaking son of a railroad tycoon, to bring him as his valet so he can photograph the story.

When Ned and Tolley arrive at the expedition's base camp, Ned wanders off alone and discovers a young Apache girl lying in a motionless heap on the ground. He brings her back to the camp where the two local Apache scouts guiding the expedition -- Joseph (Greene) and Albert (Gregory Odjig, "Elijah") -- determine she must be brought back to her people in order to survive. Margaret Hawkins (Kathleen Munroe, "Accidental Friendship"), a graduate student traveling with the expedition as an unofficial anthropologist, negotiates with the expedition authorities to let her, Ned, Tolley, and another valet travel with the guides ahead of the rest of the group and attempt to trade the girl with the Apache Indians for the kidnapped boy.

Brian Austin Green & Graham Greene to Star in Hallmark Channel's THE WILD GIRL

The movie has completed production and will premiere on Hallmark Channel December 19 (9-11 PM, ET/PT).

Because their orphanage is being renovated, three orphan boys who are known for being troublemakers temporarily move in with Jack (Cain) and Cheri (Kelly) Green over the Christmas holiday. Rita Green (Kennedy), Jack's aunt who runs the orphanage, asks the couple to take the unruly children during the renovation because they are a loving couple and she knows they will be good to the children. The Greens are unable to have children, and Jack is hesitant about becoming a father. He'd rather invent toys for the couple's toy company.

Rodney (VelJohnson), the toy shop foreman, keeps an eye on the boys who at first visit and then eventually work in the factory.

The situation is working out nicely except for one thing: Believing that one of them will be adopted by the couple, the boys are competing with each other. But they are all in for a big surprise because the couple has fallen in love with all three and are trying to figure out how to adopt all of them.

Dean Cain, Mimi Kennedy, & more Star in Hallmark's THE THREE GIFTS

RELATIVE STRANGER premieres tonight, March 14, at 8pm on the Hallmark Channel. The movie stars Eriq La Salle ("ER"), Cicely Tyson ("Diary of a Mad Black Woman"), Michael Michele ("ER") and Michael Beach ("Third Watch").

You know I usually like Hallmark films, and although this one is not really my cup of tea, I think some of you might actually enjoy it.

Having seen the movie, I think it can touch some of you and you might even be able to relate. It follows the story of Walter Clemons who comes home to Los Angeles after he learns his father died. Walter left his family six year earlier, and as you can guess, they are not too pleased to see him back in their lives.

I can tell you this, the kid playing Walter's son will break your heart. He has such an incredible scene towards the end of the movie, I know I had tears in my eyes.

Don't forget that Relative Stranger premieres tonight, March 14, at 8pm on the Hallmark Channel.

Since today is Valentine's Day, I thought Hallmark's movie, BEFORE YOU SAY 'I DO', would be the perfect to celebrate tonight, at 9pm.

When I first started watching the movie, I thought that it might be a little too cheesy for me, but as it went along it got cuter and cuter and put me right in the mood for Valentine's day. You will fall in love with David Sutcliffe ("Gilmore Girls," "Private Practice") and his quest to woo the woman he is madly in love with.

Overall, I great Valentine movie from Hallmark, so don't miss it tonight at 9pm on the Hallmark Channel.

Hallmark's BEFORE YOU SAY I DO for Valentine's Day

This Saturday, January 31, at 9pm Hallmark Channel will premiere THE NOTE II: TAKING A CHANCE ON LOVE, which is a sequel to Hallmark's The Note. Genie Francis and Ted McGinley reprise their roles as a columnist and a sports writer.

I haven't seen The Note (and if you haven't either it airs again before the premiere of The Note II: Taking a Chance on Love at 7pm), but from what I understand it involved Peyton reuniting with the daughter she gave up for adoption 18 years earlier, and starting a relationship with her co-worker King Danville.

But even if you don't watch The Note, I found The Note II: Taking a Chance on Love very easy to understand and enjoy.

This time, Peyton deals with a note from one of her loyal reader, Eve, who disagrees with one of her advices. This actually leads to a new friendship between the two, which will challenge not only Peyton but Eve to live their lives fully.

As for King, he has his hands full with his son's, David, new vocation.

Overall, I found The Note II: Taking a Chance on Love enjoyable, but I couldn't really relate to the characters. I don't think that I am the target audience for the film, but I think that some people definitely will enjoy the story.

Hallmark's THE NOTE 2: TAKING A CHANCE ON LOVE Review

I just wanted to remind you guys to tune in tonight at 9pm and watch MOST WONDERFUL TIME OF THE YEAR on Hallmark. It's a sweet Holiday movie that is perfect to watch with the family on Saturday night.

Henry Winkler's performance is the thing that made me enjoy the movie the most. He makes his character just so likable and it even relaxes you watching his scenes. He makes you wish he was your Uncle.

And even though I didn't know Warren Christie, who plays Morgan Derby, the love interest, it's hard to resist him.

Most Wonderful Time of the Year also stars Brooke Burns.

Synopsis: Jennifer Cullen (Brooke Burns) is a single, working mom who has become somewhat of a Scrooge when it comes to the Holiday season. Even her six-year-old son Brian (Connor Levins, "Eight Below") is having trouble believing in Santa Claus. When Jen's Uncle Ralph (Henry Winkler), a retired police officer, comes to visit for Christmas, he brings along a new friend, a nomad and Jack-of-all-trades named Morgan Derby (Warren Christie). The two met on a flight, and Morgan's plans to continue on to Denver are cancelled when he finds out the city is completely snowed in. Jen is wary of the stranger, but at Ralph's request, agrees to let him stay the night.

She warms up to Morgan, especially when she sees how he interacts with Brian. Uncle Ralph approves of Morgan, too, but Jen's boyfriend Richard (Woody Jeffreys, "Graffiti Flowers") isn't nearly as receptive. Meanwhile, Morgan has started to really like Jen, but if she can't
manage to make Christmas about anything more than business, Morgan will be on his way to Denver, and she'll have missed the opportunity that was right in front of her. Uncle Ralph has done what he can to keep Morgan around, but it's going to take something more than that to get him penciled into Jen's long-term plans. Jen just needs to learn "how to do Christmas," and it turns out Morgan is the perfect one to teach her.

First Look: Hallmark's MOST WONDERFUL TIME OF THE YEAR

Hallmark premieres a new original movie, THE CHRISTMAS CHOIR, tonight, December 6, at 9pm.

The Christmas Choir sounds like the right movie to get you in the Christmas spirit doesn't it? It stars Rhea Perlman and Jason Gedrick

Synopsis: Peter Brockman (Jason Gedrick) is a workaholic accountant with no interest in the holidays. What he doesn't realize that is he has shut out everyone from his life, including his fiancée Jill (Cindy Sampson, "Swamp Devil"). When Jill decides she can't go through with the marriage, Peter finds his calling in helping the less fortunate. He meets a homeless man named Bob (Tyrone Benskin, "300"), who inspires Peter to start a choir at the homeless shelter. With the help of Sister Agatha (Perlman) and the men at the shelter, Peter turns his life around, making the choir’s success his main priority. He even meets a new love interest, Marilyn Stone (Marianne Farley, "Lotto 6/66"), who works in the subway station where the choir performs.
Working with the homeless allows Peter to realize that everyone deserves a second chance, at life, love, and relationships. He also learns the value of giving one's time as opposed to just writing a check, something he has always been good at. Ultimately, Peter's involvement in the choir not only unites him with some unlikely friends and reunites him with his father, it brings the entire city together around what he and Bob call the miracle of music.

First Look: Hallmark's THE CHRISTMAS CHOIR

Hallmark will premiere its new original movie, ACCIDENTAL FRIENDSHIP, tonight, November 15, at 9pm.

Starring Chandra Wilson ("Grey’s Anatomy"), Kathleen Munroe ("Beautiful People"), and Ben Vereen and based on a true story, Accidental Friendship tells the story of an unlikely friendship between a police officer and a homeless woman.

This might not be the best Hallmark movie ever made, but it will for sure warm your heart (and I guess that's what Hallmark does best). Plus I think Chandra Wilson is really great in it, and it also gives her a chance to shine in something else than Grey's Anatomy.

Friendship between the two women seemed as improbable as the idea that oak trees come out of acorns. But as friendship did emerge and like that oak tree, the roots of that friendship provided a base of support and respect for Yvonne and Tami for more than five years.

First Look: Hallmark's ACCIDENTAL FRIENDSHIP

Hallmark premieres a new original movie, MAIL ORDER BRIDE, this Saturday, November 8, at 9pm.

Mail Order Bride stars Daphne Zuniga, Greg Evigan, Cameron Bancroft, Vincent Gale, Patrick Currie, and Tom Heaton.

I thought it was an ok Hallmark movie, but once again not my favorite. The story is quite predictable from the beginning. You can skip it if you've got something better to do on Saturday night, but if you're home and feel like watching a Hallmark type movie, then I think you might enjoy Mail Order Bride.

Synopsis: Boston, 1880’s: Diana McQueen, a seasoned scam artist, wraps up her latest con and presents the money to her unscrupulous boss, Tom Rourke. When Diana realizes her recent victim was a decent man whom Rourke will ruin, she tells Rourke she is through stealing for him. But Rourke knows she’s holding back some of the cash from the scam, and threatens to send her to jail for her crimes. He took her in years ago, a poor orphan on the street, and she should be grateful. When she leaves, Rourke orders Ghost, one of his thugs, to keep an eye on her.

First Look: Hallmark's MAIL ORDER BRIDE

Hallmark Channel will premiere its original movie, LADIES OF THE HOUSE tonight, October 18, at 9pm.

While I wasn't the target audience for the movie, I found it sweet and fun to watch.

I think that it's was a nice family movie to watch on a Saturday night. Not the best hallmark movie I have ever seen, but I'm sure many will find it very enjoyable.

Synopsis: When three friends single-handedly take on the rebuilding of a run-down house, they soon discover that their own lives require an equal amount of renovation in “Ladies of the House,” a Hallmark Channel Original Movie premiering Saturday, October 18 (9/8c). Florence Henderson (“The Brady Bunch”), Donna Mills (“Knot’s Landing”) and Emmy® and Golden Globe nominee Pam Grier (“The L Word”) are joined by Lance Henriksen, Richard Roundtree and Gordon Thomson in the powerful story of friendship and self-discovery.

Ladies of the House airs tonight, October 18, at 9pm on Hallmark Channel.

Hallmark's LADIES OF THE HOUSE Premieres Tonight

Hallmark's new original movie, DEAR PRUDENCE, starring Jane Seymour premieres tonight, August 23, at 9pm on the Hallmark Channel.

I found Dear Prudence quite refreshing and entertaining. Jane Seymour is perfect as Prudence McCoy, a smart and classy woman trying to solve a murder while on vacation away from her well-known TV program.

I think what will appeal to people is how the movie mixes the PruPointers homespun remedies with the murder case. The way the story uses Prudence and her assistant's knowledge of these remedies to solve the crime is quite ingenious and makes this film very original and so fun to watch.

This is definitely another great movie for the whole family to enjoy and plus you might get some fun PruPointer at the same time.

Synopsis: Dear Prudence tells the story of Prudence McCoy (Jane Seymour), a humorous, Martha Stewart-like TV personality, well known for her ingenious PruPointers program of homespun remedies for a variety of life's little problems.
When her series wraps for the season, Prudence escapes on a much-needed vacation from her work-driven life. She ends up in Wyoming, as a guest at a lodge her mother used to frequent when the elder Mrs. McCoy was the country's best known advice columnist. When the lodge owner's son turns up dead of an apparent suicide, Prudence suspects foul play. She calls on Nigel Forsythe III (Ryan Cartwright), the genius scientist she works with on all her renowned PruPointers, to join her in Wyoming and help her discern the truth.
Eddie Duncan (Jamey Sheridan), a local detective, is not impressed with her amateur detective skills, while Doug Craig (Rob Stewart), a prominent lawyer, tries to steer her in another direction about who JR really was. Both men can't help being drawn to Prudence and her warmth and smarts.
As Prudence gets closer to discovering the truth and the major financial windfall someone stands to gain, she realizes that one of these men has been lying to her, and she and Nigel may be in danger. While making some unexpected discoveries about her mother, Prudence begins to reexamine her own life and choices - choices that could possibly include Eddie or Doug and most certainly require that she heed one of her own PruPointers: "Follow your heart."

Review: Hallmark's DEAR PRUDENCE

It's time for a new Hallmark movie.

EVERY SECOND COUNTS premieres Saturday, July 12, at 9pm on the Hallmark channel.

The movie tells the story of Brooke Preston (played by Magda Apanowicz from Kyle XY), a 17 year-old girl, who competes in the highly-skilled sport of team penning. Her father, Joe (played by Stephen Collins from 7th Heaven) loves to watch her compete and thinks that she could become a champion, just like he could have, if it wasn't for an injury that forced him to retire.

But while he dreams of competition for Brooke, she dreams of going to college and becoming a veterinarian. Unfortunately, some events change both their plans when the family is in danger of losing their home. Brooke is left with the hard decision of taking things into her own hands to save the day.

I will start by saying that this is a perfect family movie. I actually watched it with my mom when she was in town and we both really enjoyed it. It is by far one of the best Hallmark movies I have seen lately.

I do have to warn you that it is a typical Hallmark movie, where everything is "happy" and "sweet," you get the picture, but since I am a sucker for these cute, sweet, simple (ok fine, corny) stories, it was perfect for me.

And so for those who love to watch Hallmark movies, I think you will enjoy this one very much. The story is well written, showing the conflict that Brooke faces between what she wants and what she has to do. Plus it was so much fun to see Magda Apanowicz play a character that is so different from her character, Andy, on Kyle XY.

As for Stephen Collins, I think this part fits him well. Actually it's not too different from his character on 7th Heaven.

Overall, I enjoyed the movie from beginning to end and there might even have been a few tears (God I'm such a girl when I watch movies, ha!).

And so remember to watch Every Second Counts on Saturday July 12 at 9pm on the Hallmark Channel.

Early Review: Hallmark's EVERY SECOND COUNTS

If you were trying to figure out what you were going to watch on TV tonight, how about Western? Tonight, July 5, at 9pm, the Hallmark Channel premieres a new original movie, A GUNFIGHTER'S PLEDGE, starring Luke Perry.

This might not be the best western ever made, but it is enjoyable enough. Plus I always get a kick out of seeing Luke Perry on Television again.

The story of A Gunfighter's Pledge is simple enough that it is easy to follow and enjoy. There are a few slow moments and I wish the story had moved along a little faster, but overall, it is a classic tale of a hero, who lost everything, trying to get his revenge and make up for the wrong he has done.

The acting is pretty strong and works perfectly with the tone of the movie. I mean this is a Hallmark movie after all, and as so it does require a certain feel to it. But I am happy to say it doesn't fall too much in the cheesiness that some Hallmark movies sometimes have. Oh and did I mention that Luke Perry was the lead? The quiet hero part just fits him perfectly. And so it's worth watching if only for him.

Overall, I think this is a very enjoyable Saturday night movie and while you shouldn't expect to see the movie of the year, I think you can spend a great two hours following the story of Matt Austin.

Synopsis: Following a daring escape from a pair of marshals, Tate (Kim Coates), a vicious outlaw, murders the wife and child of Matt Austin (Luke Perry), the sheriff who originally caught him and killed his brother. When Austin tracks Tate to a lawless saloon and accidentally kills an innocent man in the shootout, Austin pledges to the dying man that he will return his body to his sister, Amaya (Jaclyn DeSantis), at their family farm. Once there, he is forced to put his quest for vengeance on hold when he becomes embroiled in a dispute between Amaya and Horn (C. Thomas Howell), a businessman and landowner who has bought the sheriff (Francesco Quinn), and is trying to force Amaya to sell him her land by any means necessary. Unbeknownst to Austin, Horn has hired Tate as part of a posse tasked with removing Amaya from her land, leading to an inevitable showdown with lives and livelihoods hanging in the balance.

Early Review: Hallmark's A GUNFIGHTER'S PLEDGE

Hallmark is launching its Movie Channel HD today, April 2, with the premiere of its original movie, SON OF THE DRAGON, at 8pm.

SON OF THE DRAGON is a two-night movie event starring David Carradine, John Reardon, and Rupert Graves.

Son of the Dragon tells the story of Devil Boy, aka DB (Reardon), who was raised by Bird (Carrading), a former warrior. Both of them now want to steal the royal court's jewels. The Governor is welcoming potential suitors to court in order to win his daughter's, Princess Li Wei, hand. DB and Bird see this as an opportunity to get closer to their goal and pose as the Prince of the Seven Seas and his lieutenant. However, competition from the Prince of the North (Graves) complicates things a bit.

Son of the Dragon airs its Part One tonight, April 2, at 8pm and its Part Two tomorrow night, April 3, at 8pm.

The movie was shot entirely in China, and features wonderful landscapes and colors. There are some pretty good fight scenes, especially for a Hallmark movie. It really looks like they put money into making it the best they could.

Son of the Dragon was fun to watch. It is a little different from what you would expect to watch on the Hallmark Channel, but that's a positive thing. They are expending their reach and trying to appeal to a different audience. Between the fight scenes and the love story, Son of the Dragon also provides comic relief. And may I say it is very welcome.

The very charming John Reardon portrays the loveable DB in such a way that I think he will gain many admirers.

As for David Carradine, he plays to role of mentor/father perfectly.

Overall, it was a nice, fun, and entertaining movie to watch. So if you want to take a break from Network television and feel like watching an action/romance movie, tune in to Son of the Dragon tonight at 8pm on the Hallmark Channel, and watch it for the first time in HD.
