Watch a sneak peek of the new Syfy TV series CAPRICA which premieres January 22 2010. Thanks to Critictoo for posting the teaser.

Caprica Synopsis: Set 50 years before “Battlestar Galactica,” “Caprica” follows two rival families – the Graystones and the Adamas. Bound together by tragedy, their ensuing struggle will determine the fate of the 12 Colonies.

“Caprica” is a society rife with advanced technology. Little do they know they are trembling on the brink of the creation of the first cybernetic life-form node, or CYLON. Passion, intrigue and betrayal set the stage for the coming revolution. The Graystones and Adamas come from different cultures and wildly different socio-economic backgrounds.

Daniel Graystone (Eric Stoltz) is a computer genius and the leading businessman of the 12 Colonies. His wife, Amanda Graystone (Paula Malcolmson) is an elite neurosurgeon.

Joseph Adama (Esai Morales) is an immigrant, a lawyer with ties to the mob, and a father who is desperate to reconnect with his estranged son, William (Sina Najafi).

Their bitter rivalry will bring the end of life as they know it. Their children are the future.

James Marsters to Star on CAPRICA

James Marsters

James Marsters is heading to CAPRICA (the Battlestar Galactica prequel) for a multiple episodes arc, according to Michael Ausiello.

Marsters will play a dangerous terrorist leader by the name of Barnabus Greeley in a minimum of three episodes. Driven by desires both moralistic and carnal, Barnabus is as lethal as he is unpredictable.

Of course as a Buffy fan and James Marsters fan, it's no surprise that I am excited about this casting. The bad news is that we'll have to wait until next year to see Caprica, which premieres on January 22, 2010 on Syfy.

CAPRICA DVD Review

Esai Morales, Eric Stoltz - Caprica

CAPRICA, the prequel to Battlestar Galactica, was released today on DVD and Digital Download. Caprica a one hour and a half introduction to the series that will start in 2010 on the Sci Fi channel.

Originally, after watching the previews for Caprica, I wasn't too excited to watch it. It just didn't look like it would be that great, especially since it lacked some of the things I had come to love in Battlestar Galactica, the space element, the cylons, etc. But I was wrong, Caprica was able to totally capture my attention after the first five minutes, and now I am looking forward to finding out what happens next.

Ronald D. Moore and David Eick (executive producers of Battlestar Galactica) have done it again. But the great thing about Caprica is that it stands on its own as a series, meaning you don't need to be a fan or have even seen Battlestar Galactica to enjoy it, while still being tied to Battlestar Galactica in ways that will please its fans.

CAPRICA Promo Video

Caprica - Esai Morales as Joseph Adams, Eric Stoltz as Daniel Graystone

Sci Fi has released the first promo for its new show, CAPRICA, which is a prequel to Battlestar Galactica.

So far I am not impressed. To be honest if I didn't know this was a prequel to Battlestar Galactica I'm not even sure I would want to watch it. Plus, everything I actually like about Battlestar Galactica is absent, no cylons, no space ships, you get the picture.

I know that it's not supposed to be Battlestar Galactica 2, but I thought I would be more excited. Or maybe the trailer is just not that great. Either way, I'm still going to check out the first episode and make my decision then. I really hope that I'm wrong and this ends up being my replacement for Battlestar Galactica.

What do you guys think of the promo for Caprica?
