Episode Synopsis: THE CLOSER "Waivers of Extradition" Season 5 Episode 12 - After the stabbing death of a woman who was apparently killed by someone wearing a Ninja outfit, Brenda and the squad soon realize they might have a bigger case on their hands than they thought. A detective from El Paso, Texas (guest star Xander Berkeley), where a similar crime occurred, comes to LA to help in the investigation, but his primary interest is in bringing the killer back to Texas to face the death penalty. Meanwhile, Brenda’s father, Clay (guest star Barry Corbin), arrives to take her niece, Charlie, home to Atlanta.

Watch a sneak peek of THE CLOSER Season 5 Episode 11 "Maternal Instincts" airing Monday August 17 at 9/8c on TNT. Sosie Bacon, Kyra Sedgwick's daughter is once playing the part of Charlie, Brenda's niece. I really really am glad that she is given an opportunity to show her acting abilities. I usually am not a big fan of celebrity kids riding on their parent's coatails but in this case, I am glad that an exception was made.

Episode Synopsis: THE CLOSER "Maternal Instincts" Season 5 Episode 11 - A shooting in a school parking lot leaves one person dead, another person critically wounded and a car loaded with marijuana. Brenda and Fritz, meanwhile, spar over how to handle Charlie (Sosie Bacon), especially after Brenda brings her niece into the middle of the case. And Provenza decides to make a big life change.

Watch a sneak peek of THE CLOSER Season 5 Episode 10 "Smells Like Murder" airing Monday August 10 at 9/8c on TNT. This episode should be interesting, mainly because Sosie Bacon, Kyra Sedgwick's daughter is back playing the part of Charlie, Brenda's niece. Last episode "Identity Theft" showed that she definitely had the acting chops of her parents. She has a certain vulnerability that translates into a powerful performance. All and all, I can't wait to see this episode

Episode Synopsis: THE CLOSER "Smells Like Murder" Season 5 Episode 10 - A large box with a body stuffed inside leads Brenda in search of suspects, and she winds up with several suspects: a scripture-thumping stepfather, a disgruntled ex-girfriend, a buddy who was constantly being hit up for money and a landlord who simply hated the victim’s guts. Gabriel is studying for the detective exam, so Brenda uses the case as a teaching tool. Meanwhile, Brenda’s niece, Charlie (Sosie Bacon), pulls a stunt so severe, she and Fritz are ready to put her on a plane home immediately.

Episode Synopsis: THE CLOSER "Identity Theft" Season 5 Episode 9 - Brenda must reopen the case of a murdered psychiatrist when the man claiming to have committed the crime givess a statement that doesn't quite match the actual events. Based on evidence of the man's acquaintance with the doctor, Brenda believes there is a cover-up and sets out to unearth the truth. Willie Rae throws a roadblock in her path when she pops in for a visit, which actually appears to be an attempt to dump Brenda's handful of a niece onto the newlyweds during for the duration of summer break.

Episode Synopsis: THE CLOSER "Elysian Fields" Season 5 Episode 8 - The squad investigates the murder of a man who, 10 years ago, was the lead suspect in the murder of two girls. The state of the body indicates he was dragged behind a truck or SUV a full day before being shot twice in the head and dumped in Elysian Park. A detective comes out of retirement to help with the investigation, but his obsession with closing his decade-old case threatens Brenda’s own inquiry.

THE CLOSER Season 5 Episode 6 "Tapped Out" Review

I just saw an advance copy of the new THE CLOSER "Tapped Out" (Season 5 Episode 6) airing Monday, July 13 at 9/8c on TNT. In "Tapped Out", the team investigates the death of a reality show “pick-up artist” about to roll out a new TV show. Things go downhill when a police impersonator steals the evidence in the case and conducts his own investigation. **SPOILER ALERT** The funny part is that he steals the evidence from none other than Chief Pope, Provenza and Flynn.
It was a funny episode as it revolves mostly around the team trying to undo the mess caused by the impersonator. This leads to some pretty funny moments with Brenda and her team always finding themselves a step behind the impostor. Imagine being a cop arriving to inform the family of the deceased, only to find out that another "cop" has beat you to the punch. Now imagine that this happens at every stage of the investigation. Welcome to the world of police impersonation.
Overall this is an entertaining episode with a classic killer ending. Man, I love this show.

Episode Synopsis: THE CLOSER Season 5 Episode 6 "Tapped Out"- Brenda’s team investigates the shooting death of a popular online “hook-up king” who was in the process of putting together a television pilot for a men’s cable network. The case goes awry when a police impersonator enters the picture. Meanwhile, Pope does a rotation as a regular member of Brenda’s squad to get a firsthand look at how the team works, but his experience isn’t exactly what he expected it would be.
