Procedural Update: CSI: NY Recap - “The Thing About Heroes” (4×10)
November 29, 2007
So what to say about the latest CBS’ CSI NY episode “The Thing About Heroes”? Warning, if you haven’t watched the episode there will be spoilers.
Well, the story started with Mac Taylor (Gary Sinise) following the trail of the 333 stalker. He finds an old decomposed body in the Chicago Tribune building.
Meanwhile, the team in NY is investigating the murder of a Subway Train conductor in an empty subway. What starts as a typical murder investigation devolves into a trap by the 333 dude which hurls the train full blast with the team in it. Without Danny’s (Carmine Giovinazzo) quick thinking, they would have met their demise.
I am going to skip over the investigation and jump to the meat of the story. Here’s the payoff of the 333 storyline: it turns out Mac had a childhood friend called Bobby Toole who was being beaten by a mob guy. Young Mac witnessed the beating but was too scared to do anything about it; Bobby’s older brother Jimmie Toole stepped up and shot the mob guy but unfortunately it was too late for Bobby. The 333 stalker was trying to remind Mac of that day by sending him Bobby’s bloody tee-shirt and digging up the decomposed body of none other than the mob guy. [Read more]

Procedural Update: Weekly Review - NCIS, BONES, and CSI NY
November 25, 2007
Fun week for procedural shows! Let’s discuss some of the highlights:
NCIS “Lost and Found”
This week’s episode was OK. I liked the character of the kid as a young DiNozzo. Also it was kind of fun to see each character play babysitter all throughout the show, except DiNozzo. What does that mean? Hmmm. Maybe I am overthinking it.
BONES “The Knight on the Grid”
Ok, what the hell? This was actually quite a compelling episode where we almost catch the Gormogon Killer (or like Booth would say the Gorgonzola Killer). But the last scene did not make sense at all. If you free a victim of a serial killer and fail to apprehend the suspect, doesn’t crime show logic dictate that you post a squad car to protect the would be victim?
CSI NY “One Wedding and A Funeral”
Finally, we are getting close to resolving the “333” Mystery on the show. I always hate it when procedurals resort to cheap story arcs that always end in a sad whimper. I can only guess that next week will reveal that this was all because some dude didn’t get justice as a kid and grew up to be a stalker/murderer. Wow, how original!

CSI: NY - Pictures and Comments for “Buzzkill” (4×8)
November 12, 2007
I am a big fan of Mac Taylor (Gary Sinise) in CSI: NY. I always admire his cool demeanor, even in the most emotional scenes. Sometimes, I wish they gave him better lines to say but this is still a CSI franchise so I know what to expect. I really just watch the show to see Mac be Mac.
I am not really interested in the Danny-Lindsay romance (Carmine Giovinazzo and Anna Belknap), nor am I interested in Stella’s (Melina Kanakaredes) budding romance with creepy stalker dude Drew Bedford (Kerr Smith). I really hope the show stays on point and focuses on crime solving.
Anyway, check out the pictures of this week’s CSI: NY’s episode “Buzzkill” and don’t forget to watch CSI: NY on Wednesday at 10pm on CBS.
