Procedural Update: LAW AND ORDER CI - “Courtship”

November 9, 2007

“Courtship” - Chris Noth as Detective Mike Logan in LAW & ORDER: CRIMINAL INTENT

So I just finished watching tonight’s episode of LAW AND ORDER CI “Courtship” and here are my thoughts:

Story - This episode was a tale of intrigue that starts with a judge’s wife getting gunned down and suspects lining up to take the rap. Nothing fancy here, just a straight up story of seemingly complex intrigue that kind of fizzles in the end. I don’t want to give away too much but the payoff is kinda disappointing with no OMG moment.

Characters - So breaking with the traditional Law and Order CI, the two detectives Logan (Chris Noth) and Falacci (Alicia Witt) are in reverse roles with Logan as the wise one and Falacci as the hot head. Funny considering that Logan was usually the impetuous one. Also, “Courtship” features the guest appearance of none other than Steve Guttenberg, Mahoney from Police Academy 1,2,3,4,5,6…etc. I like him as a self centered actor that is in a lot of trouble.

Favorite Moment - Steve Guttenberg in a prison jump suit.

Overall, a cool episode. Worth watching!

Eric - #7 LAW & ORDER CI

Law & Order CI

Law and Order CI is as smart as it gets.
I don’t care what story lines is on each week because I know that more often than not, it will be some twisted “I can’t believe they did that” plot. However, the essence of this show lies in the ability that the detectives, especially Vincent D’Onofrio, have to get into the suspects’ heads and bring out the truth.
I have to admit that I sometimes wonder why the suspects don’t just shut up, but who could resist the compelling arguments that Goren lays out? Apparently, no one.

Cast: Eric Bogosian, Vincent D’Onofrio, Kathryn Erbe, Julianne Nicholson, Chris Noth, and Alicia Witt.

Plot: “Law & Order: Criminal Intent,” takes viewers into the minds of its criminals while following the psychological approaches the Major Case Squad uses to solve the crimes.

On Tonight, Thursday 10/4: SUPERNATURAL, THE OFFICE, and more…

Daemon's Choice

Smallville

SMALLVILLE “Kara” - 8pm the CW
Tonight we finally meet Kara a.k.a Supergirl. That girl will have to work it because I am very protective of Smallville and take some time to warm up to newcomers. Look at some pictures from the episode here.

My Name Is Earl

MY NAME IS EARL “The Gangs of Camden County” - 8pm NBC
I am so ashamed because I haven’t even watched last week’s episode yet. This is bad, I can’t keep up anymore and this is a show I really enjoy watching. Homework: Watch both episode of My Name Is Earl for next week.

Ugly Betty

UGLY BETTY “Family/Affair” - 8pm ABC
After getting such a sad episode last week I need some laughs this week. Plus Henry is back so that’s exciting. Oh and I have to mention this because I recently watched the two seasons of Extras, I look at Christina (Ashley Jensen) in a whole new way now. If you haven’t seen Extras, watch it and you’ll know what I mean. I love that character by the way.

30 Rock

30 ROCK “SeinfeldVision” - 8pm NBC
I felt obligated to mention this show as one of our choices because it has been getting so many good reviews and my friends swear by it. I personally never really watched 30 Rock (I know, shame on me) but I’m thinking of giving it a shot when things come down a bit, because right now that’s pretty much impossible.

The Office

THE OFFICE “Dunder-Mifflin Infinity” - 9pm NBC
Dear Office, why must you only come on TV once a week? Why can’t everyday be Office day? After a great premiere last week, we get another hour long episode this week. I think this one-hour thing should become a regular thing. I mean after the one-hour episode I still want more, what am I going to do when it goes back to the 30 minutes format?

Grey's Anatomy

GREY’S ANATOMY “Love/Addition” - 9pm ABC
Yes, George finally confessed his love for Izzie, unfortunately it might not turn out the way I was hoping for. I hope this episode doesn’t leave me crying, I really can’t take it anymore.

Supernatural

SUPERNATURAL “The Magnificent Seven” - 9pm the CW
Supernatural is back tonight. I would be excited but since I’m still catching up on season one, at this point I’m just trying to stay away from spoilers. Check out some picture from the season premiere here.

Law & Order: CI

LAW & ORDER: CI “Amends” - 10pm USA
The truth is I never watched any Law & Order show on a regular basis, but I do enjoy the occasional episode. I decided to mention the premiere of Law & Order: CI because 1) it’s starting on a new network, USA, that has shows I love 2) I have been a fan of Vincent D’Onofrio for a while (ever since I saw him in this interesting film called “Guy”).

ER

ER “In A Different Life” - 10pm NBC
I know lots of people are wondering if people are still watching this show, turns out I am. It’s not on my top list, but I do enjoy some of the storylines and some of the characters.

Mad Men

MAD MEN “Indian Summer” - 10pm AMC
I just caught up on the show today and I still adore it. It’s just so smart, well-written, and well-acted. Just for the record though, I would probably have killed myself if I was living then as a woman. The saddest thing is that one of my friends made me realize things haven’t really changed that much in offices…

It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia

IT’S ALWAYS SUNNY IN PHILADELPHIA “The Gang Sells The Bar” & “Frank Sets Sweet Dee On Fire” - 10pm & 10:30pm FX
I had never gotten that interested in It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia for the first two seasons, but after watching the first few episodes of season 3, the show is now officially on my schedule. I think the thing that sealed the deal for me is this guy.

Daemon’s TV Quick Updates

July 16, 2007

“IT’S ALWAYS SUNNY IN PHILADELPHIA” IS BACK IN SEPTEMBER

If you like IT’S ALWAYS SUNNY IN PHILADELPHIA, get ready because the show is back on FX September 13th. The third season will include 15 episodes.
I have watched it once or twice and it has some very funny moments.

ONE-HOUR “EXTRAS” EPISODE

EXTRAS will be back with a one-hour special episode to conclude the series (does that remind you of The Office Special? That was one of the best episodes).

Ricky Gervais is also in talks with HBO for stand-up special. This guy is brilliant, I think he is the only actor who made me hate him so much (in The Office).

ALICIA WITT JOINS “LAW AND ORDER:CI”

Alicia Witt is joining the cast of LAW AND ORDER: CRIMINAL INTENT this fall as it moves to USA Network. She will be playing Detective Mike Logan’s (Chris Noth) new partner, Detective Nola Falacci.
The seventh season will start on October 4th at 10pm on USA.

LAW & ORDER - One for NBC and one for USA

May 13, 2007

Law & Order

According to The Hollywood Reporter, I am glad to announce that all three “Law & Order” have been renewed. Law & Order: SVU had already been renewed at an earlier time, but the renewal of Law & Order and Law & Order: CI makes a full circle. The shows will both get 22 new episodes.
Here is the thing though, although there will be no change to Law & Order, it will be back on NBC. Law & Order: CI, however, will move to USA (with apparently an encore presentation on NBC).

This is what NBC Universal president and CEO Jeff Zucker had to say about the move of Law & Order: CI:

“Adding such a bona fide established, successful show to USA’s already powerful lineup would make the network’s No. 1 position on cable even more dominant and would enable it to emerge as the fifth television network along with ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox.”
